Now that I've calmed down, let me properly explain why Malzahar disgusts me

I hate how I'm forced to buy QSS when I lane against him

I hate how he outdamages me on most of my favourite champions

I hate how I can't farm up properly because he does nothing but push, and I can't push harder

I hate how he deals so much damage in every stage of the game

I hate how he never runs OOM, and punishes me if I try to eat his E

I hate how him never going OOM leads towards him getting a cs/tower lead

I hate how every tool in his kit is annoying

But what I hate most about playing against him is that I can't have fun laning anymore

Malzahar literally makes playing the game unfun for me

Youre not forced to buy a QSS. Youre just not to supposed to try to 1v1 him. Remember why you dont 1v1 warwick, sugarcube?

What champions might those be? Syndra? Yasuo? Zed?

Ask your jungler for help; If you pick a champion without waveclear into a champion with stellar waveclear, thats quite literally your own fault. Otherwise you got counterpicked, which is part of the game buttercup.

He doesnt actually DO that much damage until he starts scaling. Malzahar is DoT - damage over time - rather than burst, like cass, zed, or leblanc. He does a ton of damage over 10 seconds, sure, but hes not that good a duelist unless he gets his full combo off on you. And if he ever ults you, your team mates should be nearby to save you (Because why were you trying to 1v1 someone with suppression?)

Malzahar goes OoM quite often. Stop feeding him minions and maybe he wont regain mana so much, yeah? Seriously. If malzahar is pushing to maintain his mana, HARASS HIM. Lob a skill shot his way, ignore minions until you have a ludens for waveclear.

Why arent you asking your jungler for help again? And if theres such a huge difference in his mana vs yours, maybe theres a problem in your mana managment skills.

Passive: As AP, a useless thing that only helps take towers. Q: A horizontal line silence that is VERY EASY TO DODGE W: A circular %HP zone that is VERY EASY TO DODGE E: A waveclear tool that refunds mana per kill THAT IS EASY TO DODGE R: A suppression

It's not necessarily about getting counterpicked, because Malzahar tends to stomp most of my mid champions. Someone could literally first-pick him and I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do because it's Malzahar. I'm platinum and I still don't know how to play against him.

Tanking Space AIDS early makes him go OOM really fast. You don't even need to tank it since he has no way to make it jump even once early.

His silence is very predictable and you can dodge it even without boots.

Do you hate buying AD/MR? Because that's what you are suppose to do. Otherwise, good luck taking true damage from everybody who isn't... actually from everybody.

I don't really play many AD mids, mostly mages. I dislike buying that early QSS because, come on, who doesn't. I could get an early chalice for 900 gold, and then spend the rest of my 1200+ gold on a QSS, but that puts me behind so, so much in terms of power. I feel really cheated upon.

You don't need QSS if you play for example Syndra and can stun and kill Malza before he gets a chance to get in range. It's no excuse to not get an get-out-of-jail-free card item, just because it builds only into an AD item. Even if you were to play AD you aren't going to upgrade QSS for like the whole match.

How hard is it to trade against a combo mage who literally depends on his ult to do 2/3 his damage?

Oh, I dislike Annie, but I don't feel cheated when I lose against her. I feel like Zed and Vlad are pure skill too. It's just Malzahar who makes me feel like I got broken champ-ed. Thing is, trading doesn't really happen with Malz, I just tend to safefarm and get zoned by him, and if I get too close I eat the full combo. He tends to 100-0 me when he has his ult up, even if he misses his W. (No joke, I ended with 20% health as a Lux at about level 7 I believe, he hit his Q E R on me and I had used W before he did his combo, he probably would've killed me if not for that, or if he had hit his W too)

But you realize malz isn't broken by virtue of teamfights being a thing now. Malz has literally 0 tools to mitigate any damage or dodge a thing, so he's quite easy to catch and kill.
