What if we changed Glacial Augment to also have a Rylai's-type effect?
While I'm trying not to join the "Mages are weak" bandwagon myself, I feel I have to say some SOMETHING considering my main man, Karthus just hit sub-50% Winrate for the first time in a couple years (give or take), which makes me concerned.
That being said, I propose a solution I came up for this; a change to Glacial Augment so that attacks and abilities give a 40-50% slow for 2 seconds (Ranged attacks and AoE spells give 20 - 40%, DoT slow is halved).
Now if this sounds familiar, that's because I based it off of
's passive. Why? Because it leads to the second part of the plan.
Get rid of Rylai's
This item has already shown that with its passive, it can't really be allowed to be a good item, hence why Riot had to gut it, So why buy an item for 2600G just for a 20% slow? Glacial Augment is already a free pseudo
passive , it could stand to have Rylai's passive as well.
Not only that, but this could help address some of the other problems that people complain about with mages:
-
Mage Itemization With my proposed change, mages would have a new path (albiet ballsier) to build, with
as a first/second item rush for both MPen and that extra spell burn. It's not exactly a perfect solution, but it helps -
Mobility There are just some champs that are just too darn quick to deal with, especially if you're an immobile mage. This certainly helps.
-
Former DFT champs. This would give former users of DFT a viable keystone, Something that they're suffering without right now.
Just a suggestion, but one that I think would definitely help balance preseason. I'd love to hear feedback if possible, so tell me what you think! :)
