Problems that are years old that haven't been fixed

  • We still don't have any sort of disband option in Champion select to avoid trolls (people purposely feeding)

  • To add on to the point above, we don't have champion select reporting for being toxic

  • Urgot and Yorick still poop

  • (Probably going to get hate for this) CertinalyT has designed only controversial OP champions (Zyra pre nerf, Darius, Yasuo, Thresh, Kalista, correct me if wrong but Morde rework and I think some other reworks) and it seems someone higher up in the Rito office can't just pull him off and let him get some proper experience in balance.

  • Odd man loses (4v5, etc) still credited as normal loses with no forgiveness.

  • Runes and rune pages cost way to much and make getting champions for lvl 20s take much longer

  • IP farming for champions takes forever (then again its a free game, probably not much of a problem)

  • This game is worse than DOTA for new MOBA players.

And probably a bunch more that aren't that big..

  • Sona is still unplayable trash; over 13 months and counting
PerishSoftly1 votes

That's completely untrue by the way. If she was unplayable, her win rate and pick rate would be around 0%. Sona is one of my favorite champions thematically and as a Support in general. While she has the durability of wet tissue paper, her ability to support a team through a long engage or siege is very good, and her ultimate-Q-AA combo in a teamfight can stun and heavily chunk a key threat, allowing other members to finish them off.

She excels in quick skirmishes where her Q increases her team's damage noticeably and her W mitigates some of the damage in response. Her whole QW identity seems to be about creating effective HP discrepancies between her team and her opponents.

Sona currently has a 0% win rate in professional play with somewhere around 20 games played since patch 4.13 went live.

Aka, Nami's W in a single spell, but Nami has higher bases and scalings.

I'm not here to discuss what you like, I joined League to be a Sona main, she's my favorite champion in the game. All the more reason why I'm so enraged they turned her into unplayable trash.

Since the fact she's garbage now doesn't bother you, apparently your feelings for her are either indifference or hate. Either way, it's plainly obvious that you DON'T like her.

Mostly agree. I disagree though that LoL is worse than DOTA. I tried DOTA and I found it overwhelming (and that was after I played LoL). It doesn't have the same system of direct scaling and the lack of a consistent meta actually makes it very difficult to deal with, as does the fact the map is that much weirder with a lot more interactions with the environement.

Yeah, DOTA can get obscenely boring really fast. Stand back at tower and exp farm while waiting on passive gold to purchase items. No thank you.

So leave and stop playing, and tell Riot via their lower revenue that you want these problems fixed. If people start getting fed up in droves, they'll either fix it or go under.

Remember this is all they have.

A free dodge would causes more problems than it helps, especially in Ranked.

Urgot and Yorick still poop

They're on the rework list. They're massive efforts though, like Sion level. It's gonna take some time.

It's just perception. They're annoying at times, but they've rarely been full on OP. Hell, the most problematic champions to balance have been Annie, Ryze, Akali, Evelynn and Kassadin. 4 of whom were in the original 40.

Certainly not. The knowledge required to sucessfully played DoTA2 is MASSIVE. And unlike League, it throws it at you all at once. Sink or swim.

It isn't a free dodge. It will be a vote to disband the current party. Similar to a Surrender.

Zyra pre nerf, Darius, Yasuo, Thresh, Kalista are all still overpowered and strong picks in the game. Whenever he makes a champion they dominate until they are nerfed to a point where they aren't nearly as useful or they simply continue to destroy.

If it can be done at any time and without any penalty, then it amounts to the same thing.

Darius isn't CT's fault, all the Juggernauts came out ultrastrong. May as well blame Skarner's and Garen's creators too then. Kalista, Thresh, Yasuo are also fine, their winrates hover around or slightly below 50%. That doesn't scream even remotely overpowered to me. They'll always be strong picks, aye. But thats just the mark of a good creator. Otherwise, as I said, its just perception. People just don't like playing against them, and so they MUST be broken and overpowered.

I would argue that if no one likes playing against a champion, then it speaks of much larger design problems than the champion merely being under- or over-powered.

Narasimha1 votes

There will always be a champion most hated. If its not Yasuo, it's Riven. If its not Riven, its Vayne. If its not Vayne, its Nidalee. If its not Nidalee, its Annie. If its not Annie, its Blitzcrank. And so on, and so forth. It has nothing to do with balance. People just don't like playing against some champions, no matter their state.

Nameless Voice1 votes

That was my point, and it's a far bigger issue than the balance being a bit off.

What is more likely to put players off playing the game - constantly being against champions that they hate, or balance being a little off and some champions tending to win a little more than others?

Maybe I'm alone here, but I personally find that the amount of fun that I have playing this game is directly related to how many of the champions I hate that are in the game. When those champions aren't played that much, the game is much more fun (even if it's dominated by overpowered champions); meanwhile, when those champions are strong / FotM, then the game becomes much less appealing, and I feel like playing it less often.

Did you know that tier 1 and 2 runes cost 25ip each? (quints 100) so people can fiddle around with them and not lose too much IP. It was fixed almost a year ago http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-51-notes#patch-new-player-rune-changes

Champ select Reporting is silly, just report them after the game, it would just encourage split second reporting for no good reason "Oh he picked yorick, what a troll" when he may be some hyper crazy awesome yorick main.

The new player experience has some things that should be worked on and I really think Riot should have a team put together that specifically works on that. However I wouldn't say it's any better or worse than Dota, if anything I'd put it on better because League designers have pushed Clarity as a major design point on everything they do so abilities and items don't contain hidden power as well as important things show up really well against the map. Even knowing nothing about the game you'll see what happened to you, you may not understand it but it's clear basically what's going on.

They really should have a 4v5 system and that's one of the few points I can wholly agree with you on. As for disband option, it seems like a nice idea to me but hardly anything critical.

I'll leave the other points as they've been pretty well addressed by Narasimha

The main issue i have with league of legends right now is 4 vs 5. It's stupid that it's considered a 'fair' match.
