Azir

Alright, here goes. I'm a Silver 3, Azir main. I've played him fairly religiously for the past year and a half, and I've gathered over 200k mastery points on him. Simply put I've gained my experience on him.

My thoughts on the rework:

  • I like it, they put him in a state where he can easily be balanced without him either being completely over powered, or absolute garbage like he was before.

  • With his shortened range, it allows other mid laners to be able to compete with his range.

  • Damage early feels rather big, especially with his ability to easily get 3 soldiers out once he's purchased his nomicon.

  • I like that I can still use shurima shuffle to either engage or disengage. Also that the shield procs immediately, but only lasts for 1.5s now. IT ALSO HAS A WORKING SCALING NOW.

I'm not calling for Riot to make any changes to Azir yet. I want them to wait until after 1 or 2 patches of preseason in order to find out where he falls with the massive amounts of changes that are coming. Azir might stay the exact same, he might get worse, or he might become unbearable. We won't know until we've had time to play him on preseason.

I think that the reason that a majority of people are complaining about Azir being "Overpowered" is because he's been out of the spotlight for over a year. People haven't really had to play against him until now, and they've forgotten how to. Also, if you see the other team pick an Azir, why on Earth would you think you could counter-pick against him with someone with low mobility and range?

TL:DR

  • I like the new Azir rework because it puts him in a better place for the balance team to work with him.
  • I want any changes for him to wait until 1 or 2 patches into preseason in order to see where it places him due to the massive amount of changes that preseason is bringing.
  • Majority of people complaining about Azir are people who get destroyed by him because they've forgotten how to play against him in the past year and half he hasn't been in the spotlight.
