"Katarina is soooooo easy to counter"

People think that countering a champion comes down to wrecking him on lane phase

It really does, if she's allowed to retain a decent amount of AP, stopping her ultimate is a lot harder.

You can also countr her by focussing her first and ccing her as soon as she shows up she can counter this by positioning save

  1. Wreck her during lane phase.
  2. Watch how she recovers herself with those 2 kills that she got from your bot lane
  3. You don't have hard CC to interrupt her ult
  4. Her ult has Griveous Wounds, which wreck you due to your ult
  5. She will destroy your team because Swain falls off and Katarina scales incredibly well

She doesn't scale that well actually, do to it being more difficult to get resets late in the game because everyone is tankier and has more magic resist. Also, champions have lower CD's on their CC making it more difficult for Katarina to find an opening to try to get off her ult.

Yep, tanks get tanky, Ap carries get Zhonyas, Ad carries get GA.

Katarina is probably the least helpful assassin late game after maybe akali. Most other ones have defensive backups if they can't secure the kill. Kat needs to get the kill before she can use her skills defensively.

Katarina doesn't scale particularly well. She is a mid game champ reliant on snowballing to win. A bruiser or tank can easily face tank her entire ult if they aren't behind in my experience.

preety accurate

but katarina isnt bound to midlane ... in fact she is made in a way that actualy encourages her to chase kills instead of farming ... so good luck preventing her from getting fed

if you masnage ... she will be weak ... but most of the time you will get rekt

No she is soooooo easy to counter because any form of CC destroys her damage output.

Let me give you some champs that counter her hard: Amumu Annie Azir Chogath Alistar Diana Fiddlesticks Galio Gragas Hecarim Lissandra Leona Lulu Malphite Malzahar Maokai Nautilus Nami Janna Pantheon Renekton Riven Shen Soraka Thresh Udyr MonkeyKing

That's just a list of what can counter her very easily by just saving an ability for when she ults so she basically does no damage.

amumu ult doesnt stop kats

Ahri charm stops her ult too :D

Dedrius1 votes

Yeah I got tired of doing it haha, I counted at least 20 more after I finished the list that stop her ult.

can't blame you it's a pretty long list often makes it not worth playing her mid, at least not for me

Counter picks do not mean a champion is balanced, and not everyone has strong reliable CC, and some champions have no CC at all.

I think the best way to make sure she's less of a problem is to pressure her as hard as you can early game so she has less of an effect until you can build item 3157 or item 3026 because positioning is everything to a Katarina. She's not the most problematic champion you can play against at the moment, but I still hate when people pick her because she epitomizes how out of control and unreliable assassins can be.

When there is a Kat on enemy's team, the first thing I ask to my team is to pick tanky champions with a lot of CC. My best bet against Kat is Cho'Gath, but unfortunately, he is banned a lot. But he is tanky, he has a very reliable and instant silence to counter Kat, and has more than enough damage to burst her down.

She is problematic on SoloQ because you need to coordinate with your team to counter her, but this isn't always possible. A proof of that is because I tried to do what I explained above on a past battle. Instead of picking tanky champions with hard CC, my team picked squishy champions with little to no CC, such as Ezreal, Graves, and Tryndamere. Knowing that this battle would be a loss just from our team composition, I had to quit the game (during the champion select, of course, I wouldn't quit if the game already started). Fortunately it was just a normal game, so I didn't lost any LP.

Still, on my opinion, Kat is a must-ban until you are at least a Diamond II or you are on LCS.

I suppose that's fair, but on the other hand the same is true of champions like Yi, Tryndamere, Fiora, or Nasus. If a team sees some of these guys and chooses a bunch of squishies with no hard CC then yeah. They deserve to lose, lol.

No.

It comes down to remember that you got CCs also outside of lane phase.

Seeing your whines you fell for that trick... again...

When it comes to Katarina, making her laning phase a living hell is shutting her down.

The problem is that one person alone counter-playing her doesn't account for the rest of your team. Assassins are roamers, so they're going to find someplace else to get kills if their lane is a problem. Path of Least Resistance and all that.

And, sometimes, you can't deal with that. Oh, sure, you can ping and call MIA, but you probably can't afford to place wards for top and bottom lanes so they see her coming, and you might not be able to keep up with her roaming. So, someone else on your team lets her snowball, and suddenly she's a problem again (especially if she only jumps into fights when she's guaranteed to kill or she knows CC is on cooldown).

That's kind of how most assassins function, though. They disrupt fights with well-timed burst damage, and they own the mid-game, and your whole team needs to be careful as to how they deal with them. Really, ideally, your whole team needs to be wary of the entire enemy team. But that's hard to get in blind queues.
