PSA about Rito

rito is listening to the majority of the playerbase, not just the people on the boards. there are many people on the boards who like what rito does, but they are afraid to post about it since they get downvoted into oblivion.

half the people on reddit/the boards/etc are complete idiots when it comes to how the game works. rito does surveys and such to make sure they are doing their best to keep the playerbase happy. right now, there are a bunch of changes, so there will be some growing pains, but the majority of the changes are ultimately going to improve the game. if they had been here all along, nobody would be complaining because it would be new and shiny, not a change from the familiar.

i ask all of you upset with Riot to just keep your minds open. take a break if you need to. but League is not gonna die anytime soon. it's not the end of the world. the sky isn't falling.

besides, if you want a response from Riot, usually it helps to be specific and cooperative, instead of general and angry. Rioters are people too, and they get offended just the same as anyone else when their work is attacked for seemingly no reason. if there's something you want to see change, put in some constructive criticism. don't be vague and say that everything is terrible. say something more specific, like "the queue times in dynamic q are too long right now. are there intentions to fix them or revert back to solo q?". that is a direct question that rito can answer. if you can, even offer some suggestions on how to fix it. maybe it's something rito hasn't thought of yet, and some part of it might help improve the game.

the boards are here to encourage communication between rito and the players. that isn't something one-sided. rito made the boards and responds to a lot of posts. if you doubt me, go check the red tracker section. if you want a response, go and facilitate communcation. it's a two way street.

anyways, thank you for reading and have a wonderful day

Edit: I was kind of surprised when I started with positive upvotes, but now the community has done a wonderful job and downvoted me because I dared to say Rito was a good company and they were trying.

I agree with everything you said. People start flaming riot and making conspiracy theories because of 2 things.

  1. Some of those people don't read the news and update notes.
  2. Riot while doing an ok job is not as transparent as community would like.

But the only change that is not good for the game IMHO is the DQ, or at least the way it works for solo players. Even all the LCS players are putting their hate into it. Now they said they are going to fix that and i'm glad, but untill then all the solo players are crippled in climbing the ranks.

i wish rito would be more transparent as well, but they have certainly made significant improvements already.

the whole dynamic q problem right now i think is largely due to it being a new system. it has a bunch of problems in it, but rito has said they're working on improving them, and they've already been pushing out a ton of other content. improvements to q times, matchmaking, role selection, etc should ease a lot of people's complaints about it, but they might end up bringing solo q back as well. personally, i would like to see dynamic q and solo q coexist, with 4 man premades removed from dynamic q and solo players being put into solo instead of dynamic. rito will come up with a solution, and i trust they will eventually get it to work right, and then hopefully players will be happy. i personally like the dynamic q changes, but there are still a bunch of problems that need to be fixed before it is up to the quality bar that rito has set for itself

The saddest part was when i saw this:

But, we know a lot of things that can be solved with iterative improvements, and our current top three priorities are improving the solo player experience against premades, lowering queue times, and smoothing out role selection weight. In an ideal (and optimistic) world, getting these numbers right would make a second queue unnecessary, but it’s not something we’re dismissing as of yet.

Literally they said if we fix DQ then SQ is not coming back. If we don't fix it we maybe bring it back.

I don't see what part of that is sad unless you are 100% closeminded about learning to enjoy dynamic queue.

there are certain benefits to solo q that dynamic q doesn't have, but hopefully those will be minimized to the point at which they are irrelevant or people will have two very good options available depending on what aspect they want to focus on: individual skill, or the skill of a group of friends.

I don't see how you insulting me is contributing to the discussion...I enjoy DQ but it's harder for solo players...I like some changes but i don't like some others... So how about you stop insulting people and taking stuff out of context...

I didn't insult anyone. Tone is sometimes hard to read on the internet though.

I'm just calling it out I see it based on your statement: either they fix the problems people have with dynamic queue and... people have no problems with dynamic queue anymore, or they bring back solo queue.

The only way that is sad to hear is if literally nothing would ever please you aside from having solo q back.

The sad thing is that even if they don't fix it then MAYBE they might bring it back. So even if it's not fixed we might not get a solution that favours everyone relatively equally. Now i know some people are defending one queue and hating the other, but i am just waiting for a solution be it SQ or DQ.

You insulted me by saying i am closeminded based on nothing but you taking context from my words. I never stated i like it or disslike it. I said it needs to be fixed ( which even riot admited to be unbalanced ergo the fixes).

i personally think there's merit in both solo Q and dynamic Q. i think the best way to fix this would be to perfect dynamic q and then find a way to implement solo q without ruining d q. that being said, the "team" experience has a long way to go besides just having d q. there needs to be constant voice communication and a playerbase with very few toxic players. i don't think it's reasonable to expect the coordination necessary for a true team experience outside of professional play or very high level 5 man premades. that being said, they can certainly make strides towards it and further develop league as a team game, and i think that solo q should be a way to show that you are a good team member no matter who you play with.

Their poll regarding dynamic queue intentionally lead the answer >_>. Players also conflate champion select with dynamic queue, a distinction that should've been made clearer.

In other words, that poll isn't worth the pixels it's written on.

i like most changes except for dynamic queue

Don't hate me yet, and no its not a contradiction but i like dynamic queue

Except it punishes people for playing solo which is kind of dumb. As of now everyone can boost everyone and the ntire ranked ladder is skewed in all possible directions in otherwords its garbage and doesnt even remotely point out your skill level. So future balancing with solo's vs premades, in all their forms wether 4+1 v 5 or 2+3 vs 2 + 3xsolo. Any adjustment by using mmr will be pointless as by now that mmr is already a useless stat. So that boat has sailed already and isnt a way to fix the ladder anymore.

Only way now is to give solo players more mmr gain depending on how many more premade players the opposing team has.

Its bad enough we can't get extra hextech or lp rewards like the premades can. But most solo players would be content with having the communication advantage that premades have being offset with increased mmr gain when winning vs these guys.

Dynamic queue needs solo players to function after all so making sure solo players arent punished ''competetively'' for playing solo would be a good start to balance out dynamic ranked.

Just saying.

And lets not forget this complete wrecking of the ranked ladder and ostracising of solo players will not only hurt DQueue times but will in the near future also hurt the Competetive E-sports Pro scene like LCS. Because these teams will have difficulties finding the right new players since ranked ladders are completely innacurate and unreliable.

Current state of dynamic queue is one of the dumbest things i have seen Riot do ever, not just from a gameplay or comunity standpoint but also from a bussiness standpoint.

I really like the idea behind dynamic queue but currently its a hot mess.

Other then that they been doing a good job, except we also need more Sion buffs :D

My 2 cents

there are a bunch of dynamic q problems; hopefully rito will get them fixed soon. the matchmaking is supposed to be even on both sides for premades, so it shouldn't be much of an issue, but it often seems like its determined by who has the better premade. making it easier to climb in solo q isn't a bad idea, seeing as it would offset the difficulty in climbing when you're not part of a premade, since you personally have less impact. however, it should still have about 50/50 positive/negative impact since both sides should have even premades.

and sion is doing great right now, he just doesn't have a high playrate. he's like a sleeper op right now, like galio. i wouldn't be surprised if he becomes "meta" soon
