When he kills you in lane. From there its pretty easy to carry a lead, since few laners can 1v2 a fed Yorick.

The experiences of a bad player playing against bad players are not evidence of champion balance my friend. Anecdotal evidence is never valid. I have never once in my entire life lost lane to a Jayce as Tryndamere. In fact, I dumpster every Jayce I play against as any champion. I genuinely don't believe I've ever lost lane to a Jayce. Is Jayce bad?

Illaoi is actually worse than the majority of champions in the game. Yorick, by contrast, is all right.

Hard to say. Perception of power? Generally considered less fun? Not a big musclegirl waifu? Somewhat awkward kit with a steep learning curve (he is the highest skillcap juggernaut and has the most awkward kit, by contrast Illaoi is pretty intuitive and immediately satisfying).

Doesn't really matter though. Aurelion Sol is picked even less than Yorick is, and that champion is incredibly strong. Pick rate does not necessarily indicate champion strength. Lucian has like a 12% pick rate and that dude is actual hot garbage.

The mechanical design of Yorick is a tank/bruiser that has the capacity to kill other tanks while offering split pushing and literal AFK pushing options. In team fights his zoning potential is extraordinary while his damage is lack luster. He is the very essence of a tank that's supposed to get in the way of the other team.

Black cleaver's better. Yorick does has massive base ad, but he can't proc spellblade near as often as possible with his cd's and he doesnt stick to targets that well himself. Also he doesn't synergise with attack speed, partly because the slow q animation and he applies 5 stacks of cleaver almost instantly.

This guy gets it.

I'm a Yorick player (L6 Champ Mastery with L7 in the works) and I ALWAYS take item 3071 on my favorite Shepherd. Funny you should mention his lack of synergy with AS, I just tested some ideas in the Practice Tool, and confirmed it for myself. In regards of lack of sticking to targets, I get item 3022 and that can help quite a bit.

Yoricks pets count as aoe for the purposes of deaths dance and hextech gunblade but they do apply lifesteal so they are both bad choices. Sit on a vampiric sceptor if you want sustain and complete a bloodthirster if the game drags on till you are full build. Or build full tank with a Warmogs for out of combat sustain.

I don't find capping cdr to be neccessary, lategame i feel that 30% is good enough. Warmogs or spirit visage (only with lifesteal|) give 30% with cleaver. Against a ad laner take 10% cdr runes. If you feel a physcological ~~nuerosis~~ need for 40% you could build item 3158 or item 3060 . I dont think i've built banner on Yorick so I cant vouch for it.

My general build with Yorick goes as follows:

item 3071 item 3065 item 3143 item 3111 and the last two are variable depending on the situation.

The Runes and Masteries I take depend on who I'm facing in-lane.

EDIT: The same idea applies (Regarding Runes and Masteries) with my SS's.

He is strong af , hes a split pusher your just playing him wrong , if you know what your doing you can solo rift Harold and push your lead further , can also strave out the enemies jg top side so they have nothing to farm, hes also mechanically very reliant you need to know when your kiting with ult and when your going ham in , you also NEVER EVER LEAVE YOUR FUCKIN ULT TO SPLIT PUSH YOU PUSH WITH THE ULT. The ult by itself is basically a super minion that will just push the wave for you casually , if u push with it he clears towers faster than anyone in the entire fkin game from mid - late game.

Yorick is only good if he can stack enough burst damage onto his Q to hit the enemy carry hard. His E is one of the most ridiculous skills in the game and can usually only be landed if he gets someone stuck with his W. I think Yorick really has an advantage against non-Yorick players because most people do not know they can break through the W and usually flash out of it or just stand there with thumb in butt. His ult is pretty overpowered too if it's properly used.
