Cassio doesnt feel very fair to fight

Shes a late-game carry, but yet if she lands a single Q on you during laning, she can easily take 80% of your health and then zone you away from the cs for the rest of the laning phase.

Bonus points if she takes ignite and all-ins you at level 2.

Renekton can all in you at level 2 as well.

The tip is to not fight reptiles when they are level 2 and wait til you are level 3 if you want to go HAM.

Except that's a terrible comparison, because Renekton falls off while Cassio scales up.

I think its a joke.

It's funny because irl Cass would drop her scales down while Rene wouldn't - irony item 2138

but wait at level 3 his all in is even more terrifying

WalkingInACircle23 votes

80%? Really? Are you hitting back at all?

Lauchmelder29 votes

If she can land a second Q she can straight up kill you on the lvl 2 powerspike. It's not that easy to land a Q on a decent enemy though.

WalkingInACircle14 votes

What defensive abilities does your champion have and how are you applying them?

As Ahri I have zero problems using Q and backing away, Cassio's can't touch you before 6. Admittedly this is a good answer to her, but most any mage should be shoving cc in her face if she lands the q. Her follow up to it is very predictable.

Outside of my ult and the slow on W none. I AM the Cassiopeia

Ben SwoIo25 votes

Of course you're able to back off as Ahri, she gets a speed boost from her Q. I wouldn't think that it's hard at all to disengage with her.

Daunt3 votes

She probably can't kill you with her base mana on lvl 2. And if she goes for an aggressive trade and doesn't kill you, she will be left with literally no mana to cs or do anything at all.

Lauchmelder4 votes

She can kill you with her base mana, been there, done that.

It's with exactly the risk you mentioned. If she goes all in on level 2 after hitting a Q she will have no mana. Either she got a kill, a summoner spell or is in a horrible spot. That means no mana either way (not even enough to E a minion).

maplecat2112 votes

Primarily playing Ahri and Anivia, I've never had a problem fighting against Cassio. Both of these champions can hit back for over half her health with hard CC, meaning that Cassio can't retaliate during the 2-3 hundred base damage combo which procs Thunderlords. Plus, her Q is really easy to dodge, especially on champions that have a decent movement speed, and is short range enough that she needs to walk towards you to hit most mages with it during laning phase, opening her up to a stun+burst combo.

Syndra Diana andKatarina also absolutely make her life hell.

Pale Pirate5 votes

Diana ?? How do you plan to survive pre lvl 6?

Succubús GF1 votes

W?

BeatzBoyFTW2 votes

That shield amount is a lot squishier than Sion's. It's not going to protect her from 3 to 4 of Cass's E.

Succubús GF1 votes

If cass e's you 4 times, she will be so oom itll be a free farm lane

Witch of Babylon1 votes

Do you even know the mana cost of her E

Succubús GF1 votes

Mastery 6 with her, id assume so? 40 at rank 1, so assuming you are lv 2 with about 350~ mana if you hit it 4 times that would be 160 mana, that is HALF her mana pool. And if you didn't hit q first it wouldn't do any damage which is 60 mana assuming you hit q twice and hit e 4 times. You would be out of mana

Witch of Babylon1 votes

Whenever I play against Cass they only use one Q to spam E

Daunt3 votes

Cassio can kinda bully all 3 of those champs until they spike up a bit. Katarina and Diana are pretty screwed till level 6 (altho Kat can probably trade with her a bit earlier if she plays it out right) and Syndra will just get zoned as her main damage tool is her Q which can be missed while Cass can spam E's on you.

Succubús GF2 votes

Kat will never get bullied by cassio unless kat walks into her w, syndra you just have to be able to position properly. And Diana can just farm safely

Daunt1 votes

You're underestimating Cassiopeia's zoning potential on level 1, she can deny you the entire wave if she wants. Katarina has no way of getting near the minions while Cass is freely spamming E on her.

Succubús GF1 votes

No I am not, as someone who plays both champions and knows the matchup like the back of my hand, her e costs 40 mana, out of a 320 pool at lv 1. if she spams e she will go oom, not to mention how garbage that damage is at lv 1

Daunt1 votes

I mean, whatever. I'm just saying what happens in high elo. You won't have a free pass on the minions in the first wave when versing a Cass. And you can pray that she allows you to stay in the xp range.

Noxious Blastt8 votes

You forgot to mention that she gets oom while fighting even with a item 3070 , that she is extremly sensible to ganks as Her passive and Base e dmg scale with lvls and she will have a low movement speed for a while bc no boots buyable . And you can easily outplay her Q ( she deal no dmg without poison ) and her R , two very easy to side step .

PePsiLemoNN5 votes

and her R , two very easy to side step .

''Side step Cassio R'' - I heard it all

Daunt2 votes

Or you can just turn around, pretty telegraphed ability.

Noxious Blastt2 votes

Was talking about the stun . Cass has a cast delay on her R she stops and moves her head before casting it , just side step to the opposite of her sight so u don't get stunned .

Shes still mobile tho

she is not mobile. no dashes and her movement speed is shit until later levels

mobile= dash and she has none.

koshkyra4 votes

Quinn is mobile and her only dash is tiny and slow.

Daunt7 votes

First of all, there are changes aimed at her on PBE where they are lowering the bonus E damage from a poisoned target which will effect her oppressiveness in lane.

With that out of the way, she has high damage exchanged for being very immobile and positioning is super important when playing with and against her. She has amazing zoning potential early but has to mind getting ganked more than any other midlaner. You should just not try to trade with her early or simply dodge her Q which is her only source of meaningful damage.

If she takes ignite and not a protective summoner spell she's pretty screwed. She's squishy and has a hard time escaping ganks.

Sinlaire1 votes

Not to mention the immobility passive on her W is horrid and people, flash, dash, and boogie right through that thing so often you almost forgets that it's supposed to stop that. Generally meaning if you're playing a champion with a mobility spell she becomes much easier due to her jank W and how telegraphed her Q is.

Daunt4 votes

I disagree on the W part, it's a really strong ability.

Sinlaire1 votes

as a whole yes, but i consider it far too unreliable. My brother plays a lot of cass and in the games i watch he has people constantly using mobility spells through and around it.

you can use them; over it, into it, and if done within .5 seconds of being within the w before the silence locks you out.

sometimes it catches people, and it's strong when it does. The only problem is there hasn't been a single game that i have EVER seen cass and not called out "wtf" from seeing an enemy just waltz on through it somehow because it didn't lock them out for some reason. Great spell, just jank and unreliable.

Daunt2 votes

It's a zoning ability and just by that it's extremely powerful. I'm pretty sure that as soon as you enter the poison with any dash it will cancel it. It's not designed to be used in laning phase as much as in team fights where Cassio actually shines the most.

AnnieTheSupport5 votes

Cassiopeia? Oh no. Blame Janna for it. She is the sole reason anyone else sucks at the moment. Yeh let's nerf Janna.

Janna is the new Irelia. Oh how zero skill lethality/duskblade Assassins love to cry on the boards.

Because pressing E while you jerk off your ADC is skillful in any way.

TheHappyReaperz4 votes

That's pretty much what any mage does. Lux hits you with a Q? Auto E auto, and poof your health bar melts.

The Trent1 votes

Cass is supposed to be a laning bully last time I checked. Playing a burst mage like Syndra or Annie means an easy win in lane once you hit 6. If you're playing assassins or mages like Ahri, no duh you're going to lose lane. You have to pick straight up burst vs Cass. Sometimes the champion you pick is a part of winning the game.

Automated Riven3 votes

No she is not. She was actually reworked because she was too big of a lane bully. That and she did to much damage with poison and not enough was too reliant on it. (glad to see that got fixed)

Um? I think you have it wrong. I remember the mega thread about the Cass mains complaining about her rework ruining who she was and Riot made her into a lane bully. You can probably still find it on the boards if u do some digging it had like 2k upvotes or something I think so it shouldn't be too hard.

Automated Riven4 votes

The rework changed her from being a dot mage and turning her into a "break your finger and e button spamming" champion. That is what cassio mains complained about. I know. I was one of them. I played a ton of cassio before her rework. She was a complete and total lane bully. Her q used to do like 100+ damage level 1 on a 3 second cooldown. and it costed 10% mana less on each successive cast so you could litterally spam it with minimal cost cause it scaled down from 50 mana to 25. If you landed 1 of them then you litterally dropped them by 1/4th health. And it just got worse. Not to mention she outranged every other mage level 1 except for lux and xerath. She used to be the biggest lane bully in all of midlane.

Stratavotis2 votes

I miss this version of Cassie... the poisons mattered more and E was a way to speed things up. The counter play was having regen/healing/shields/magic resist. facing a sustain champion was a standstill, and burst took her out first... but if you were good they dropped after a second or two after you died.

she also was a great zoning mage because of the casting bit because if you didn't go where she tried to do things... then you wouldn't get hurt (you could wait her out).
