jungle quinn

Critmaster Garen··1 votes·1,050 views

ive experimented with it, but its difficult to make work. does anyone have any experiences to share?

overall her kit seems really nice when it comes to jungling. especially with her w in invades and her ult and e when it comes to ganks. its really rough early on through that first clear. some things that ive gathered.

  • first point in q gets you more damage on camps and less damage taken than to put it into the e for the second passive proc and slow
  • rude dudes over gromp start
  • warrior is better on her than devourer
  • people will bitch at you for trying it in normals and when youre doing fine.

any suggestions when it comes to runes? ad reds and quints, flat armor yellow worked the best it seems.

since quinn farms relatively slow and, from the jungle, has a relatively weak early AND cant abuse her greatest power, her range, at all, there is actually no upside to playing quinn jungle.

in this game there are champions who benefit from going into the jungle more than from going into lanes, or they benefit from it in a different way that enables them to be played differently. quinn doesnt benefit from jungling in any single way.

neither does it allow her to skip her weak phases nor does it allow her for better buildpaths. it actually makes her lose alot of her powerspikes and forces her into a much worse buildpath compared to her laning.

she simply doesnt benefit from jungle. nice try but its just not viable.

she is able to abuse her range to a degree to kite around jungle camps.

i agree however, that farming isnt very safe with her. you can end up with a good amount of hp after your first clear, but its very difficult. you have to have perfect timing on how to rotate the stun from the krugs, the blind from the q, and the slow and auto attack disruption on vault.

its much easier with other champs.

the upside is, that her ganks in general can be pretty nasty especially at 6, when you can fly into bot lane and assassinate the adc. spotting out the enemy jungler in invades or counterinvades is relatively easy due to her w.

it may not be competitive, but still fun to make work consistently in normals.

almost every champion in the game is able to clear the jungle with the proper setup. be it mages, be it marksmen, be it supports. all of them can be fun to make work "in normals".

also, you can go midlane with nami and toplane with braum. you can go double bruiser botlane like renekton+jarvan. you can do whatever you want.

for example, a while ago i thought about who is the fastest jungler in the game so i can mega-powerfarm and outlevel everyone. the answer is: karthus. nobody jungles as fast as him except maybe ad-malzahar after one item. anyways, karthus clears mega good, tho he is susceptible to invades and cant even breathe without bluebuff. also, even tho these weaknesses dont shut him down comlpetely, there is simply no advantage you get from jungling him. he doesnt super-benefit from smite, he doesnt benefit from the jungle-items at all, he has bad mapcontrol as a jungler and he loses his strong laning power.

last but not least, he loses his flexibility because his first item kinda needs to be a jungle item. sure karthus can jungle, pretty fast even. sure he outlevels and outfarms most champs from the jungle, but none of that gives him any advantage over a lane-karthus, so there is simply no valid reason to jungle him.

this is what makes him not a viable jungler and the same applies to quinn. sure if its fun for you to jungle her i wont stop you. im just teaching you some basics about the game here. your call to learn from them or not.

If Quinn had what Karthus has, while still keeping what she has. She'd be the perfect jungler.... Super fast clears, great champ killing. :( Sad.

  1. Quinn jungle has a faster first clear than Nunu, Warwick, Kha'Zix, and Malphite (albeit at the cost of being vulnerable to counterjungling during that clear).

  2. Quinn is tied for the second lowest range of the Marksman class at 525 (unless you count Urgot) http://i.imgur.com/1YjjNeh.png .

  3. Taking into account that she is a very strong duelist who benefits greatly from Challenging Smite, that her range makes her a liability in bot lane, that her crit build makes her more of a teamfighter than a duelist/splitpusher, and that blinds wreck autoattack reliant champions (which in turn makes her good against nearly every jungler, especially when devourer junglers make an appearance), there are many benefits to taking Quinn into the jungle over other positions.

  1. maybe her first clear is faster by a few seconds, but her clearspeed doesnt scale heavily on levels unlike the champions you called. sure, malphite clears pretty slow and ineffective, but hes like at the bottom of the scale. almost any popular champion clears much, much faster. you can try this by farming to level 7 and check the timer in customgames. also, most champions clearspeed accelerates heavily as they level up and grows exponentially. not so quinns. she always clears at a similar speed until she finishes her jungle item and then again until she finishes her second item (most likely botrk).

  2. despite her range being lower than caitlyns, she still outranges melee champions and even yasuos Q and E, which is THE biggest advantage of a ranged champion in lane. in the jungle, this is a non-factor and goes to waste completely. ranged champions have lower base-stats on everything to make up for their range advantage.

  3. she is a very strong duelist but her dueling power only really accelerates later on when she can actually kill other auto-attacking types in a few seconds without them being able to retaliate much because of her blind. her true power doesnt come from her all-in potential that is much higher on other champions, it comes from her range and her power to engage freely on her own will in many situations, due to her gapclose and ultimate speed. similar to master yi, except that yi is forced to all-in since he is melee with no disengage and long cooldowns while she is ranged with nice disengage and short cooldowns. this enables her to poke and trade while being relatively safe and only all-in when she choses so.

this is her power and in jungle, that power also goes to waste. also, aside from maybe challenging smite, there is no upside of going into the jungle.

right now i feel she is a very strong toplaner and a very decent midlaner in alot of matchups while being a mediocre adc. jungling is, realisticly, not her thing. i wouldnt even rank her among the top 50 junglers and thats a pretty long list.

I can see her potential for ganks, like jinx jungle... but just like jinx she really doesnt shine INSIDE the jungle until they're actually strong.

whut?

i cant see jinx potential for ganks at all. quinns ult gives her enough mobility to swoop into a lane almost as fast as rammus. and she has a good bit of burst in her kit.

What really? How can you not see it?

Jinx has bonus range, splash damage, a slow, a root and a global... and for ALL of those, the only time she has to get into range to be attack by other ranged champions is if shes going for the root...

everything else lets her begin her gank before she could be counterattacked, usually.

Not to mention, if she uses her ult she can gank two lanes at once, and as long as she's not landing her ult on a full health target, it'll always be enough damage to help tip the balance of that battle to your team's side. OH and then theres her passive for if she uses this double lane gank method, she'll then EASILY outspeed most of the targets she may be trying to chase after. (provided the rocket leads to a kill/assist)

Either way, my best judgment on it all is that Quinn and Jinx simply don't overachieve within the actual jungle like they can in lane.

PLaying quin jungle is like playing Renekton Garen in the jungle. Can work but it's really sup-bar and u miss out on their fantastic lane bully potential.

So no.

My Jungle Quinn masteries, runes, items, and skill order:

21/9/0 going the AD path with Butcher and taking Double-Edged Sword instead of Frenzy. Flat AD marks, scaling armor seals (take flat armor if you don't know how to kite camps), scaling magic resist glyphs, flat AS quints.

item 3714 item 3006 item 3153 item 3361 item 3071 item 3072 item 3156

E, Q, W, max Q, max E, max W.

You are very weak on the first clear, so play safe and get to 810g for your upgraded machete and a long sword. After this point, you should be able to take next to no damage from camps if you autoattack move until the big monster gets in range, blind it, vault off it once the blind wears off, and go back to kiting around it. Once you have your enchanted machete, you can duel 90% of the meta junglers if you save your smite for until they have gap closed on you at least once. During ganks, flank directly behind the enemy laner so that once they get in melee range of you, you can vault off of them and into their escape path. When you have level 6, ult before showing your face and save your vault for use only once the enemy laner has burned their escape(s), since you will already have a huge movespeed buff while out of combat. The build above is intended to be a bit bruiser-y, since you will probably have an ADC bot and since a crit build usually takes more gold than a jungler gets in a game. Substitute more defense in as needed, trading lifesteal or attack speed for items like Frozen Mallet, Ninja Tabi, or Wit's End.

her kit has a lot of potential for a jungler. i just feel like with a couple small chnges related to monsters, she could make a healthier jungler than top laner. it would definitely be interesting.

you should try her jungle route in customs first though. like i said, the first clear is tough and you can almost make no mistakes if you want to be healthy enough after the first route.

Thanks for the additional advice. That also helped me remember to come back to the thread. Bard

I'll go for a custom later.

Quinn jungle is trash, it offers very slow clear speeds (that do not ramp up after initial clear) and sub-par to average ganks. Laning is just infinitely better.
