What do you think of the new triforce changes are they good or are they bad?

Daxanater··7 votes·2,038 views

Like I'm thinking to myself how am I supposed to build now with people like Gangplank or Hecarim.

But this isn't hating on the changes just what are we supposed to build now and is this a good change?

Edit: Heres some more champions that I thought of, Corki, Trundle (kinda, not sure if it really affects him), Nasus (Maybe I guess, probably not so much and maybe better because of the cdr.) but corki is my biggest concern.

It will do more benefit than harm. As it is, it only affects Corki and Gangplank, and the 4 people in the world who build it on Ezreal. Do people really not remember how people complained when they were turning TF into an adc item? This is the change we've been needing

It is also no longer a viable item for Yasuo. Yes, some Yasuo players used to build Triforce instead of Inifinity Edge. Back to the IE + Shiv/PD builds I guess.

Also, it is a double-edged sword for Nasus. On other hand, this item became cheaper. On other, he will overcap CDR if he decides to go for the traditional Triforce + Frozen Heart + Spirit Visage route. Also, the extra attack speed is not useful for Nasus since he is not attack speed reliant.

Hecarim is also on the same situation as Nasus. Attack speed buff not needed, risk of overcapping CDR if he decides to go Triforce + FH + SV, but the lower price is welcome. Also, neither of them really care for the lack of crit chance.

Jax Irelia Vi Skarner and a few champions who sometimes build Triforce like Trundle and AD Fizz actually like those Triforce changes. None of them need the crit chance and they really like the extra attack speed since they are very attack speed reliant (however, some of them like the Triforce + FH + SV combination, and like Nasus/Hecarim, this might be troublesome). I am actually worried if Jax and Irelia would become too powerful with the Triforce changes.

Oh, and with the attack speed and CDR buffs, I can see Mordekaiser building Triforce again. He never needed the crit, and the extra attack speed (you hit better with Q) and extra CDR (he is a caster) are a boon for Morde.

Welp, time to go Juggernaut Morde again. Imma go build Sterak's Gage again...

The changes are good. Trinity force was never meant to be an ADC item, ever, it was always meant to be a fighter item. So fighters are going to be very happy at the changes.

As a Jax main the trinity force changes are good cause they solidify it as a bruiser item, but AD crit caster champs like GP and Corki do need a new item, like sheen+agility cloak+bf sword

Except Yasuo will hate these changes A lot

Most people building triforce like attack speed and CDR over the crit. That's typically because you want to use the spellblade passive as much as possible which is used through your abilities and typically do not crit (exceptions exist of course).

Corki should be fine with it, hecarim will be fine, irelia, jax, ezreal and others will see it as more of a benefit. The only two that will suffer from it are Yasuo and Gangplank really. You could argue Corki liked to crit but the bulk of his damage doesn't come from it.

he still has other choices to get 70% crit. I mean his usual route is ER, IE and an AS item. thats 70% crit right there. its just lame that a bruiser item gets turned into an adc item in the first place. adcs don't need the sheen proc when they have crit. corki was just using it to two shot people. he can still get it but not completely double dip on it and use all its stats more efficiently than champs that are meant to use it in the first place.

No body even built trinity for the cdr before or after the first trinity change now maybe for the cdr change but the ad is still too low not to mention they nerfed phages passive at some point

personally. IBG is better on nasus. even after the nerfs. so IBG +SV and most nasus players. if not all of them. run at least 10% cdr runes. if not you can opt into something like death dance which lifesteal isn't bad on nasus at all or warmogs.

anyway i think SV needs another 10% cdr because while it lost MR. it didn't gain much else and stayed at the same cost while banshees lost health and is a lot cheaper.

Fun fact: SV used to have 20% cooldown reduction

Irelia's going to love it straight into a necessary nerf bat.

i have to agree, having 45% cdr with iceborn creates some nice BS permaslow shenanigans

Triforce's mishmash of different stats hasn't aged all that well at a time where items have become more specialized and better-defined, so it's good that it's getting its power concentrated into fewer things. I'd have preferred it if Riot had picked Caulfield's Warhammer as part of its recipe instead, but as it stands the item's going to become more attractive on autoattack-heavy fighters looking for more DPS and sticking power, something that's been kinda missing from it since it got changed during preseason.

With this change, though, I think it might be the time to reexamine Essence Reaver's 30% CDR: in preseason, it was useful because it let caster marksmen pick either Triforce or Lucidity boots on top of it, and then go for a normal ADC build and easily max out on everything they wanted, but now Corki or Ezreal won't be able to pick Triforce and ER at the same time without wasting stats. At this point, the item could stand to lose 10% CDR and have that power carried elsewhere if needed (perhaps into crit chance), which might even give caster marksmen more options overall (getting Youmuu's or Death's Dance together or with Lucidity boots wouldn't be wasteful anymore).

i like the changes and i think GP would appreciate the extra cdr. they've added a new crit items so trinity wouldn't be missed.

Daxanater1 votes

Oh they did?

He's referring to Essence reaver and RFC, neither of which were that great for GP. These changes were a straight up nerf for him

ohhh ok, thanks

i was referring to the adc update adding a couple. before that i saw adcs build trinity semi frequently.

im just sad they nerfed item 3115 's main part, their users are really scarce as it is.

less adc orientated but still not good for the fighters that used to predominantly build it

As a Vi main i am extremely excited about the new changes and feel that It will be easier to do more damage. The crit was something i never needed but the increased AS will help greatly same with the CDR

As a GP main I am really really sad about the changes, but I understand that more champs will benefit from it, but it is a pretty harsh nerf to GPs most optimal builds. But its ok, GP can be a bad-ish pick for awhile, he has been a decent pick for a long while now. Every champ gets to go through phases of - Busted - Decent - Bad-ish -

Time to go for ER + Shiv/PD builds I guess? After all, this is the only way that GP is going to compensate for the loss of CDR and mana from Triforce. Even though attack speed is not the most optimal stat for GP.

Its an overall buff, sure he loses some RNG bonus damage but the CDR is great and after the item 3025 hecarim literally can't use that item anymore

Evelynn is happy about this.

They favor bruisers to be honest. A lot of them rely on on-hit damage and low cool down-high base damage abilities to provide enough damage. I think the true way to buff them would be to increase the BoRK attack speed, on-hit damage, and flat AD.

I7A6X2v21 votes

They should increase the AD, from 25 to 35-40.
