It is no longer excusable not having a ping check in client

Just got dropped into a game with +1000 ping.

You better fucking believe me when I say that is my last high ping game.

I will leave every game over 500 ping from now on. There's no excuse not to have a ping utility in the client, that a way you'd know that it isn't a good time to queue up.

YEAH, riot should DEFINITELY implement it. So that people who are gonna have 500 ping through the entire game can dodge if the ping spike started when they entered champ select

i mean. its a small feature. they really could have added this straight away when they designed the new client. people have asked for this before. i think i made a thread once too.

no, its not neccessary from riots side and not their responsibility, but it would help getting a warning in a lot of cases and takes practically no efford to implement on their part.

the player benefit/cost ratio here is gigantic.

Because that's not how ping works. Your ping in the client could read fine because it's only tossing back and forth a few packets of data but when you get into a game it could be drastically different because it's trying to send a lot more data over the same connection

Your ping isn't going to spike to 1400 just from entering a game. At least in the client you would be as to see if it were stable.

Ummmm yeah it can. You obviously are unaware of how ping works. You could have 30ms pin just sending a few packets back and forth in the client. The amount of data getting passsed back in forth is drastically higher when in a game whch could mean you have 500 ms ping using the same exact connection

I fucking understand how ping works, but you OBVIOUSLY don't understand that you're referencing an incredibly specific scenario in which the client is so less demanding (lol) than the game relative to your internet service that you get a spike.

That clearly

ISN'T WHAT'S HAPPENING

My ping is already unstable. It's my shitty ISP, who has a monopoly on the internet where I live, and no incentive to fix it.

BUT

I understand that it comes in waves. So, if LoL had this ping utility, I could say "Hey, AT&T is buttfucking my service for no fucking reason its almost like hijacking copperlines was a poor fucking idea I better not queue up right now"

TLDR: My ping is high when I enter the client. My ping is high when I enter queue. My ping is high when I enter the game. Fucking show me that beforehand.
