Well, the point is you have to suck. Your enemies into the dark star.

Well, the point is you have to suck.

*Opens mouth*..........you know what? Nah, not today. I can make an immature joke another day.

TheStoneThinker13 votes

Not sure if it was intentional, but in the time it took me to get from Opens mouth to "nah," I had already decided it was going to be a dirty joke.

Then I was like, "oh, ok, it's not, he was just opening his mouth to speak" until I realized that might have deliberately had a double-meaning. Then I thought, "but he said it wasn't a joke like that." Still can't decide.

Mind is now a little sore, but thanks for workout.

I enjoy the mode, though right now it's polluted between "people who have a clue" and "people that don't'", which makes matches supremely lopsided. My major grips is no "total points gained" score on the end screen.

junglerboy163 votes

yup

I have had so many games where teammates just run around trying to hook the gravity orbs and nothing else, or have no idea how to use the lanterns to save teammates.

I would appreciate some clarity in the rules of how far your flay knocks them. It doesn't seem very consistent even taking into account how low someone's health is, the distance can vary considerably. Someone with half hp will sometimes be flayed a very short distance and sometimes from the edge to the centre. Also it seems as if you get flayed twice in quick succession (i.e. by two people) the distance is multiplied meaning if a team groups together they always win. Not sure if this is intended but I think makes the game a lot less fun/skill based.

WhiperSnapers2 votes

I think the inconsistency you are experiencing is due to where the thresh that is being flaying is standing relative to the direction of your flay.

I've noticed that to get the most distance out of your flay (assuming target is full health so that the HP multiplication does not impact distance), you want the target to be standing in the "front half" of the flay. The flay will be much weaker if it has to throw the target over you, almost as if the extra strength is being spent throwing the target upward rather than forward.

Sffc1 votes

It doesn't work like that. What happens is that the flay distance increases the lower hp you have. If 3 people flay you, youonly go further because you'll be at a lower hp

Voidzilla6 votes

I concur.

Some games I'm like the harbinger of the Dark Star, feeding all three of the imposters to the Singularity with a perfect hook into flay.

Other games I can't aim, or even hit, anything even if my life depended on it.

It's a mix of frustrating and fun for me.

I thought I would enjoy it as a pretty frequent Thresh player (3rd highest mastery) but after 3 games I quit playing it. If they had modeled it off a new champ with similar abilities I would probably have loved it, but they changed core interactions with how Thresh hooks/flay work when they interact with each other. If two Thresh's hook each other I have certain expectations about how they will interact and plan around that. This gamemode changes that, two Thresh's can't hook each other, if you get hooked your hook goes away.

Suddenly all the time I put into Thresh screws me over, I feel punished for mastering a champion. Every single game I played I did horribly, simply because my expectations of how the champion I have 70,000 mastery points on are incorrect. It has nothing to do with hook distance, or knockback distance, or even the lantern changes, I can't enjoy the mode because the way two Thresh's interact with each other is fundamentally different than on the rift.

The gamemode is awesome though and I am really glad that so many other have been enjoying it.

Hellpyre8 votes

Really, it's so you don't always meet up in the middle both unable to act. You can still hook a different Thresh than the one that hooked you. Try doing the three way hooks. Those are epic.

Fondling Gems2 votes

So? How would that be bad? That is exactly how Thresh hooks work in League. In any case I was just saying why I can't stand the mode, and I am not complaining about it being released. I think it is a great game mode, my issue is that I have expectations built around champs from experience and having those expectations broken ruins the game mode for me.

Hellpyre5 votes

Oh, I meant the problem is you would literally meet up in the matter-sucking vortex in the middle. It would end up in mutual kills way too often if people were paying any attention. It's a reasonable complaint, I was just offering what I saw as the most likely reason for it being different.

I hardly play thresh but damn, this is making me want to play him again, but braum will always be the best support <3

Another in a long line of '1 and done' game modes. Throw it on the turd heap with Nexus Siege, Dominon, and Poros. How long before we can just rotate between URF. Hexakill, and All For One, and put the garbage game modes to bed?

I'm glad you enjoy it!

Here, because you love it so much, have three more months of poro king and all random summoner's rift! :D

Had 3 pentakills being stolen literally just to piss me off (One dude even spammed the mastery emote after that shit).

Also, teammates that keep saving the enemy team. I pull someone into the star, the fucker on top of the star flays him away

yea, you get a free icon for winning a game while in a premade with 2 other people, and you get another icon for getting 33 kills across all games played in the mode.

I didn't get my free icon when I won with apremade.

Nothing is more satisfying than watching a thresh 1v3 a triple kill with a single flay. This game mode is awesome.

You can actually get past this glitch by setting your game to windowed mode and then back to fullscreen every time you first spawn in. Test it in sandbox first though to avoid throwing any games.

I hope that helps.

I didnt find it fun at all. To each their own I guess.

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

You're supposed to grab them from across the Dark Star in the middle. You should only use your E on them if they're at low health or you're both close enough that health won't matter. Make sure to use your W on an ally that has 2 or more enemies with them, or is at low health against any number. Your W can be launched pretty much anywhere walkable, so even if you're on the other side of the circle you can use it for an ally on the other side. You can also use your W from the minimap.

Just give up trying to hook the enemy Threshes and farm the Scuttle Crabs instead. That's what I do when I get angry at the crabs.

It's bugged as fuck. I use E before the enemy, then they use theirs and I get pushed into the black hole while my E does nothing. Typical Riot's spaghetti code.

The flay distance depends on missing health.

I honestly think Singularity is not fun for a lot of reasons

  1. It's a Thresh game mode with too many twisted rules and completely subverted mechanics. Beyond the gravity rule, the flail distance and the hook mechanic, that despite having Pudge range has the same distance of sliding. That, combined with Gravity Orbs, the Star itself and the the fact two hooks cannot collide, makes the experience extremely environment-based

2 Because it's Thresh the one you're using, because there are no requirements to play the mode and there are icons to be won, every bit of hatred is completely justified considering some will be deluded by the mechanic swap, some will be spend IMMENSE time trying to even get a grip on something that is far miles away from Rift's Thresh and the remaining, which I think it's the majority, know nothing of Thresh, wouldn't give a damn about his mechanics alone and only come for the icons, making the entire experience a huge pain, especially themselves.

3 Thresh, like Zed, Yasuo, Vayne and Lee Sin, requires so many mechanical skills, map knowledge and kit experience: a.k.a. NOT HEALTHY by League's standards: as such this mode creates a lot of elitism, flame, pressure and tilt worse than the other modes for the simple fact, the pace is so fast that the toxicity derived from every mistake is 200 times worse than any meta.

4 Taking into account all the variables I wrote and the aforementioned hook buff, the mode has also an immense luck factor, worsened by the immense core at the center and the general narrowness of the map.

5 Because of all the problems of the above, the toxicity originating from it, the heart-bursting pace of the mode and the greed for the icons,I would be surprised if people weren't angered this mode has been chosen instead of more favoured ones.

I have yet to decide if this is the worst mode but sure it's not something that must be proposed ever again.
