We need a champion who is really resistant to magic since they don't believe it exists

thinking man··43 votes·3,800 views

They just think really really hard that magic couldn't possibly be real and the damage they take from it is reduced.

Sometimes ignoring something can make it seem to go away.

They'll recognize the physical qualities of spells like water hitting them or Swain's birds but they refuse to believe that it's magical in origin.

I once got Galio against a team that had 5 AP champions. It was glorious. One of the funniest things I remember from that game was the enemy Veigar. He wasn't very good and made a lot of bad mistakes over and over. After he ulted me for the third time in a row I actually tried to help him and gave him suggestions in [All] chat. I told him what my shield did and how I had built nothing but Magic Resist. I also explained that he should be saving his ult for some of my team's more damage-based members. My Ahri even said that she was a much better target. I don't think he took us seriously, since he ulted me again a little later. That time it actually healed me... >_>

lol That does sound glorious, I know the feeling, I main Galio, never faced 5 ap champs, but if they have 3 ap champs or even an AD team that lacks cc (like all assassins) Galio wrecks. I like to use him against Zed, people think I am countered but don't realise how effective a TANK is against an ASSASSIN, abyscal sceptor gives almost as much AP to him as Hourglass, combine the two and he is already a high damage tank, the rest is situational.

My absolute favourite is Malz, anticipating his ultimate and just drinking HP from it. I once went from 50% hp to max because he Ulti'd me (I was really far ahead at this point) same applies to ww just not so strong :D

Not entirely related but probably my favorite League moment out of all 5 years was getting Galio mirror mode. I was so happy I even bought the battle boost. Everyone was stacking spirit vissage, it was glorious. Eventually my team just ignored the enemy team and took out the Nexus.

No one went item 3074 ?

It worked wonders in the 5 Braum game I once played.

Actually, a friend of mine did it and he told me that in the end the team with the most AD bruiser galios would win.

Never forget about 5 mundos vs 5 mundos, if you played it.

Space Bum1 votes

Never tried it. I'd probably go full magic pen sense Mundo kind of counters himself instead of canceling out like Galio.

Diananmen Square1 votes

It was really long, it took me about an hour to finish it :D we all rushed morello's so that we could actually die.

MutantClaw3 votes

once saw a galio vs singed and galio was outhealing the poison lol

Space Bum1 votes

That's just normal Galio. If an enemy has dot damage you gravitate towards them. As long as you have spirit vissage most dots can get you at least 50% health back. My favorite is probably stepping on a teemo shroom with no health and going up to 50% when almost everyone else would die.

I found him. Or do we need a Fedora Galio?

Wow, is Galio really this unpopular....?

Why do they need to be a Flat Earth Atheist, especially in a universe where certain animals speak and have sentience, the dead walk the earth and magic damage comes in multiple forms (like shouting Sion)? Then you're calling into question what counts as normal and what counts as supernatural. What is Brand, Zac or Xerath? Hell, what are the Void creatures or Bard?

It can cross a very defined line into being completely delusional and in denial about the universe. It doesn't work as cleanly in this as Final Fantasy Tactics, and the logic of that universe in regards to what counted as magic was goofy. For those playing the home game, in Tactics your magic power was defined by your Faith stat. The higher your faith, the more attuned you are to magic, and the more you are affected by it. Having zero faith gives you the "Innocent" or "Atheist" stat was it was known as in the PSP rerelease, where you can't cast magic and magic doesn't affect you at all. That being said, this only applied to straight up magic; other abilities like Monk skills (including a death-point strike, recovering through use of chi, and literally shouting at a dead body to bring them back to life), Samurai powers (Manifesting the inner power/spirit of a sword to damage enemies/heal allies with an aura), Geomancy (Attacking with the power of the terrain), the "magic" powers that the netherseer has (throwing lightning down among other things) and the Holy/Dark sword skills (which are ranged attacks and also include status effects like stop, death sentence, silence, and instant death) are NOT affected by Faith.

The Earth is flat. Haven't you seen that video with the weather balloon? The horizon is flat. Everything is flat. Summoners rift is flat. The universe is flat within a .02% margin of error.

Disbelieving something doesn't make it untrue.

Also, something like this would imply magic is faith oriented in Runeterra, which I don't really feel fits the game universe. Magic is simply a natural force here. It's not tied to a deity or a faith.

There would be a very comical element to their disbelief of magic.

I think it definitely wouldn't be something human either, and I wouldn't be surprised if the game had some other reasoning for them being resistant to magic, such as just naturally being resistant to magic, but the champion in question would mistake their innate resistance for the nonexistence of magic.

Oh, so it would be like trying to explain drowning to a fish.

"So, you suck this stuff into your gills, and it KILLS you? That's dumb, I suck this stuff into my gills all the time and I'm fine. Stop making shit up."

Even though just straight-up disbelief working for this particular being would be kind of funny, I think there would probably need to be a more realistic reason for it, so yeah.

This is a much better idea - resistance to magic causing disbelief, and not disbelief of magic causing resistance.

Sir Arthur, the Rationalist

Passive: Rested and Rational If Sir Arthur has spent y amount of time without taking damage, then his bonus Magic Resist will be boosted by x percent. If this effect is active for y amount of time, it will begin to gain stacks. When struck with more than one stack, rather than lose the effects of Rested and Rational he will instead lose 1 stack.

Q: An Object in Motion: Sir Arthur can activate this spell twice. On the first activation, Sir Arthur 'catches' the next ranged spell or skillshot to strike him within x seconds. He takes full damage, but begins to analyze the spell. All subsequent instances of that spell used against him deal reduced damage for the next y seconds or until Sir Arthur reactivates An Object in Motion, with the effect growing depending on how many times Sir Arthur is struck. Sir Arthur can reactive An Object in Motion any time within y seconds after catching a spell, in order to return the attack as a skillshot in a designated direction. The spell does 50%+(z% Arthur's HP) damage to the first enemy unit struck, and has the same speed and range as the original. However it loses all special effects the original spell may have had.

W: It's Elementary, Dear Vel'Koz! Sir Arthur fires his Mathulator-3000 gun, shooting forth an energy bolt. When the energy bolt reaches its maximum range, or strikes an enemy, it will split in two: One will pass through the target for a short distance, while the other will fire off at a right angle from the first. Sir Arthur can something control which of the two potential directions the second split takes with his own movement a la Draven's axes.

E: The Form of a Thing - Not the Thing Sir Arthur loudly and convincingly questions reality as we know it, projecting his voice into a mid-range skillshot. If it strikes an enemy, they will be temporarily feared for a short period of time as their mind is filled with doubt: If magic isn't real, how did they turn into a laser bird? Why is there a little boy dressed as a mummy running through the woods? Wtf are these towers and little blue and red dudes?

R: Old Man Jenkins?! Sir Arthur deduces the true secret of the spooky Summoner Rift magician's power. For a short period of time, all units in a short area around him are silenced as their identity is revealed. If Kog'Maw is on Sir Arthur's team, he gets a Kog'maw Snack. Someone says Jinkies. A laughtrack plays. Also, after the silence ends all effected units are given a debuff which causes them to lose a small amount of health whenever they cast a spell or use an ability for the next x seconds.

there is 3 anti mages in the game to my knowledge.

Kassadin : passive and silly Q shield. (hes complete garbage) Galio: get strength from MR (hes not bad, hes not good) Veigar: gets strong from enemy's ap. (used to be fun, now...)

And Mordekaiser. Deceptive power towards mages. =P Try it.

You, sir get a +1 for making the reference I was hoping for.

I actually made a character in GURPS once who was this very thing (From the Umineko universe). He was totally immune to magic because he didn't believe it existed. Which considering the setting we were playing in (A mega crossover universe), was stupidly powerful. So many people used magic, and I just laughed it off.

To slightly (mis)quote one of my favorite authors.

"There is a very fine reason why people no longer go to the top of the hills in stormy weather, wearing bronze armor, and shout 'I don't believe in the gods!' Because while it may certainly be true that a person does not believe in the gods, it is almost a given that the gods believe in the gods."

I honestly have no idea what this thread is trying to say.

Think of it similarly to Poppy's ult. She focuses so intently on one person that nothing else can touch her. Or, old cartoons. Wile E. Coyote runs off a cliff, but doesn't see that he is no longer on solid ground for a few seconds. Until he looks down, he doesn't fall.

This disbelief in magic would be a less potent version of those. Mind over matter.

It could work like this on a manaless champion;

Passive - Reduce magic damage taken by XX% + MR ratio. The reduced damage is added to "Ignorance" meter and slowly decreases over time, faster out of combat, instantly on the fountain. If the meter hits 100%, the champion immediately takes the stored damage. "Ignroance" meter is increased with MR and with levels.

I must say the only 1 champ stand for ultra MR monster , Galeo. This champion benefits the most for stacking MR and have a shield and runic skin passive so gain AP from the 50% of his MR. His shield is most broken shield in the game , it heals you when someone hit you and it give you 90 ARMOR and 90MR (wtf). Have taunt in large radius.

Overall , op champion.

Bad think i think from start of league of legends there i 2 champs that are forgotten by LoL community 1- urgot 2 -galeo .

PS. both galeo and urgot are overpovered , no one play them , so whats the use?

EDIT :Yes RIOT need to think that this game need ultra MR and magic resistent champ THAT ACTUALLY DEAL dmg back.(kassadin is nerfed)

DarthSpectrum1 votes

Galio only decent because he is forgotten by the community. His main damage source, Q, is ridiculously easy to dodge if you know the mechanics. On top of that, he has no real mobility to engage or escape fights.

His ult is only useful for melee champions, because no player remotely aware of what his ult does is going to stand near him unless they have to.

Urgot on the other hand, has much less pitfalls. However, he is still severely mana-gated. If he can't kill his opponent by level 4, he runs the risk of losing entire waves because he will have to back while his opponent pushes.
