Like the title says, I saw a reddit post over at r/brandMains and decided to test it so if you have

and you land an ability, the blaze DoT does not proc cheap shot even though the target is slowed. You need to follow up with another attack in order to proc cheap shot. Seems very misleading to brand players since you would expect that DoT + rylai's slow would proc cheap shot.
It's League of Exceptions, not Leauge of Legends. Every single thing is on a case by case basis. Why does Trundle Q not affect towers but Jax W does? Why does Heimer turrets hit towers and inhibitors but not Zyra plants? Just because lol Maybe it's a bug, but with the turnaround time on 90% of bug fixes, might as well just treat it as a feature until they decide to fix it 3 years from now.
Some other champion's DoTs don't proc it as well. Some do however.

heres why you need a seperate ability/attack afterword not a damage over time attack its the same attack in that session. now if you autoed or used w ult as a example you will activate cheap shot because of its a separate attack.
Spegatti code. Either it needs too work for every one or no one.
Let me copy paste what cheap shot does :
PASSIVE: Basic attacks and damaging abilities deal 8 − 40 (based on level) bonus true damage to Slow icon slowed or Stun icon immobilized enemy champions. Note that attacks or abilities that impair the target will not trigger that bonus damage themselves, unless the target is already slowed or immobilized
Notice the text in bold ? hitting your target the first time with your spell won't trigger cheap shot. The DoT is considered within your ability. You need to hit them a second time before triggering cheap shot.
