Why is this still being allowed to be reasonably feasible?

mind you the yi did get fed (but between yi, yasuo, and trist, you've got to expect at least 1 to not be negative). Although the question is about the fact that a full team of physical damage is so commonly successful. The massive over performance of pure AD vs pure AP comps clearly isn't balanced for a multitude of reasons, but why is it that despite having almost completely AD champions, they did almost 70% physical damage (as a team), and despite a team with a total of almost 700 bonus armor, fights rarely last more than about 10 seconds?

I get that riot wants to have a fast exciting game, but at this point they've sacrificed too much of the game's quality in that attempt. I'm sorry, but the qualities of a good game, don't align to the qualities of good television. They've really got to slow the game down some, because getting one use out of an ability before dying in a team fight despite having excessive resistance against almost all of the enemies damage isn't a good state for the game.

Why is what still allowed?

All i see is a typical low-elo game where nobody warded and mid/bot fed yi. The easy way to counter yi is to not feed him. This is achieved through using your wards and having map awareness.

You made a really good argument and is failing to reply to this. This is the /endconversation post right here.

So because full AP wouldn't be successful then full AD can't be? Based on what?

Are you asking what the point of AP is or did you want to skip the next logical steps and cry about AD?

deadlychuck4 votes

No, i'm not asking what the point of AP is, what i'm wondering and as i stated in the OP. Why is it that AD is allowed to be disproportionately strong compared to AP, and have such a high success rate despite it's regular occurrence as the primary damage type of a team?

Even in the case that the enemy team accounts for the damage type and build pure armor and has tanks, they still get rolled over with little effort.

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

why is a reason needed?

But looking at the chart it looks like you yourself had no AP champ of significance. How do you know it was not your lack of AP that made the difference? AD synergizes with AD perhaps, but AP tends to do better with AD.

Enemy team had very little armor, and cho/shyv do a significant amount of magic damage.

Outside of Camille's Tabi, Blitz was the only one with armor.

deadlychuck1 votes

Even with what WoonStruck said, our total damage output that game was only 57% physical. With only 6% of our damage being true damage, so the remaining 37% of our damage was magic.

Though i guess i should point out, that these enemies did do about 13% true damage, but then again the yi did manage to do about 1900 true damage to me in one of the team fights and walk away with full health, so....

Yeah, that's where I say you're bullshitting us.

i wish they nerfed maw -_-

that's about improving the performance of ap mages

thornmail is a bad item btw

deadlychuck1 votes

I wish they'd take all the damage numbers in the game and cut them i half, then adjust from there, improve the performance of any champion who has no abilities with CDs longer than 3 seconds, in the late game (so probably like 80-90% of the champion pool).

what in the world was the defeated team doing in the so called "team fight"

Aptest1 votes

that.

The defeated team should have been able to utterly demolish the winning team.

but talon sucked and cho didn't pull enough weight.

(although to be fair cho is a bad pick here)

zacktootall1 votes

hmm sounds more like the teams own fault then the set of champs on the other team

Aptest1 votes

that is my take on things. The enemy team is loaded with squishy high damage melees. So theoretically you can just burst them. question is, who can do the bursting? Talon and Cho. So they have to pull their weights.

Existential Bard1 votes

I would give advice, but I can't even see anything

deadlychuck1 votes

Advice? I'm really not in need of advice. There wasn't anything else that really could've been done itemization wise.

They had almost total physical damage, i built armor, and got very tanky, it was worth literally nothing.

first things first, league is a game that clearly favors AD champs .

why ?

1- AD champs can easily have Burst + DPS + Survivability with little to no pay-offs . 2- Raneged auto-attacks nature .

now looking at your match :

ALL of your team ( and i mean ALL, even your tanks and supports ) should have had Ninja Tabi + PD + ( HP/DMG item ) .

the remaining 3 items depends on each champ's type and role .

HeresyHorus1 votes

PD ALONE can :

1- Completely nullify all the % Dmg boosts they get from Ferocity and Cunning trees . 2- Reduces LDR % Dmg boost to just %3 . 3- Greatly improves your DPS and sustain if you have LS . 4- improves your mobility .

deadlychuck1 votes

Yes, league is clearly a game which favors AD champions. What i'm saying is cut the crap, this shit needs to be fixed because it's killing the game and making it impossible to balance.

Just my opinion...but the whole AD-AP team comp thing really only helps make a difference in a close game. With the gold lead the AD team had, it requires both teams to be full build to even out (which wasn't the case). You could give that team five tanks or five carries or five anythings and that type of gold and they would win most every fight barring misplays. That's just the nature of gold leads.

Never mind the fact that Trist, Yasuo and Yi are three of the hardest scaling champs in the game so even when the gold lead does effectively even out, those three champs just do so much better with full build than most team comps.

Further, Yi and Camille offer a decent of true damage, which offers a different kind of damage spectrum than physical damage which can avoid the armor stack. I saw the thornmail on somebody which was the best combat it (at least for Yi). Full AP comps can work if you snowball them hard enough (especially considering that there are less mr tank options then AD). There Banshee's Veil and Spirit Visage for AP and Randuin's, Sunfire Cape and Deadman's Plate for AD. Meaning tanks would have to combat it be building an item like Abyssal Septer or Maw of Maltorius (based on damage type) to get another worthwhile MR only game.

Ultimately, it wasn't the fact they were all AD but it was the fact that they snowballed harder than your team did. In the early game when tank stats really haven't been build, you can get away with it long enough to snowball.

Dracocrash1 votes

maybe you just got played like a fiddle

deadlychuck1 votes

Or in reality they just built their items and won despite having what should probably be a crippling weakness of no damage diversity.

350 armor and 4k health isn't enough to survive a yi for more than 3-4 seconds. I don't care how fed the yi is, there is only so much power you can buy on a champion, and when that power is enough to go clean through their direct counter (in terms of items) then you've got fucked game balance.

Mind you this isn't saying that Yi is OP, every single one of them did this.
