You probably shouldn't judge a champion's power by how they can farm a bot match solo for max items to take out Baron at its weakest. Or by their PBE state.

its still a really really stupid idea. theyre buffing mages kits all around to deal a shitton more damage. theyre giving them hp/ap items with mobility and kiting actives.

why would they at the same time nerf banshees and spirit visage? theyre clearly overdoing it just like with the marksmen update.

i get tht mages are in a bad spot atm. and i agree that they need help. but overpowering them cant be the answer.

they could ease into the whole thing and let the mr items be for the moment. if the mages still turn out too weak, they can still nerf the mr and help them with subsequent buffs over the next couple patches.

a couple of broken champions running around for the next few month is worse than mages only getting "slightly" buffed on the first patch.

i promise you even if zyra and malzahar cant solo baron anymore, theyre still going to be way too strong as it currently looks.

Meh too much of a kneejerk reaction imo they're changing the properly with base damage, ratios and ap nerfs to justify it all it's not gonna break the game aside from water dragon.

MR itemization has never been good, only Maw is and it's not even because it gives MR but because it gives a fuck load of stats.

Most of the mages involved are getting nerfed.

Way to go, OP.

i dont think that the ability to literally solo baron counts as a nerf.

from what ive seen on the pbe, theyre REALLY strong. id say vlad > malzahar, zyra currently.

zyra can absolutely wreck an entire team with a bunch of enraged plants.

3 champions are getting buffed. 20+ champions are getting nerfed.

Yep just like the juggernauts. You people on the boards are great at these class reworks, especially before they have hit live.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Yep, just like the juggernauts, when Riot took people's feedback in their usual twisted way and when people like you blamed it on those, that spoke up.

Not to mention you are also a part of the Boards, which ironically makes your remarks just as baseless as my opinion on PBE changes.

YCitizenSnipsY2 votes

Because every one of them was broken on release, which is becasue of people like you who complained they were too weak. But hey these boards are also responsible for Fiora, GP, Poppy, and Tham Kench who were also too weak.

I can't wait for the mages to come out and be busted because crybabies like you said they are too weak. Gonna be great for the game

Vistha Kai1 votes

Broken? Why obviously they were and still would, even if the community didn't say a word.

Imbalanced? Again, half of them were barely changed and exactly not where people wanted them to be changed.

Also, I never said "they are too weak". You are just blindly putting words in my mouth. It's like you think "nerf" equals to "unplayable".

I love how you talk shit like, "These boards are also responsible for Fiora". It's like your anti-Boards bias is out of my League. She had exactly 0 gameplay changes while on PBE and only had minor base stat buffs, plus 2 seconds lower cooldown on Riposte at level 1 in a hotfix.

Meddler's exact quote: "We're with you that Fiora seems to be pretty underpowered and are working on a set of buffs for her at the moment. One of those will increase her mobility, overall though at least for a first set of changes we're looking more to add baseline effectiveness to her. From the look of it we ended up being significantly too cautious about her balance overall."

To condense it for your little brain: "We looked at Fiora again and we're gonna buff her, because she's weak".

YCitizenSnipsY2 votes

Those juggernauts were not going to be broken if the community hadn't cried. Everyone of them were buffed before coming to live since all the experts on the boards said they were too weak.

How would I know you didn't call the juggernauts too weak, you are calling mages weak. Even thought they haven't been to live yet, and the only play testing is being done on the PBE where diamonds are matched against silver and bronze players regularly.

You said it your self, "hotfixed," as in immediately buffed after only being available for a shot period of time. And the need for this came from people crying on the boards that she was too weak. Same with GP, same with Tham, same with Bard, the list goes on.

You out of your mind if you thin k Meddler is here making that statement if people aren't crying about her. Or even having to buff her if people had waited more than a week to call her underpowered.

But no I'm sure the boards are right this time, I mean between the juggernaut patch supposed to be making them weaker over all. And the ADC patch supposedly making Quinn weaker while also breaking Vayne. The boards and people such as your self are really spot on with these predictions.

Vistha Kai1 votes

It really shows how much you know.

The Fiora hotfix happened, because they ran out of time to roll it out with the actual patch and if it wasn't a pressing matter, it wouldn't happen, but instead become a part of the next patch instead.

Guess what? It was a hotfix, which means it was deemed more important than "Let's buff her so those crybabies shut up" by Riot. They even said somewhere around that time, that a hotfix only ever happens if something needs immediate fixing, because there's a much higher chance of breaking stuff (like server stability) making hotfix.

Something similar happened to Darius, except he was actually buffed while on PBE, but the follow-up nerfs that happened the next patch or so and then many patches later, weren't actually related to the buff caused by the community, which by extension means it was Riot's own doing, not the community's.

YCitizenSnipsY2 votes

The hot fix didn't happen the day she was released. The last hot fix they did was Graves and it took them a week to hot fix him. They waited until after she had been live and got all these post whining about how weak she was before the hot fix.

This tbh.

The dumb subhuman motherfuckers on these boards are terrible at predicting what updates are gonna entail.

"Pre-season is gonna make Mundo unplayable" top kek.

wat lol, this mage update is an across the board nerf to mages... look at their options for mana regen.

short sighted.

blue buff grants bonus ap, and mages items grant large amounts of mana insead of mana regen. better cdr options, and mages are safer due to higher health pools.

and the kit buffs themselves are pretty crazy. have you seen veigars new passive? holy shit.

otherwise, there are still mana sustain mechanics with item 3010 , item 3028 and the meditation mastery. they may not be as great as before (except for meditation which is much better with the larger mana pools). but together with the overall increased mana its gonna be enough.

high mana pools have been proven insufficient time and time again. with each new season riot tries to force mages into low mana regeneration for some reason, and all it does is bring about the rise of Zed, Akali, Katarina, etc. in soloqueue, because without meaningful mana regeneration in the midgame a mage has to choose between fighting and farming, and whats the point of either if you can't do the other?

early game item 1056 will do well for mana sustain. im not entirely sure right now, but will item 2033 still exist?

otherwise, the meditation mastery will be really strong lategame. if you have a manapool of 2k to 3k , it will restore a ton. if im not mistaken this didnt exist in the past seasons. (id have to check back).

the thing with the mana sustain will not be as terrible as people make it out to be.

Sure, you're correct. If mages follow everything you've listed they'll have mana. But its not a solution... think about how much it gimps mages who are already balanced if you expect all mages to:

build extra doran rings (keep in mind most already build 2 even with current mana generation items like Morellonomicon) give up merciless (5% damage below 40% health) for a mana mastery invest in mana items early game, many of which have literally zero damage until the item is finished (catalyst, tear) possibly even consider buying an upgraded potion despite investing in biscuits which are essentially necessary for lane phase on most mana mages

thats not a buff. its a huge nerf for any champion that isn't being reworked specifically for this patch.

Brand literally kills your whole team in three spells.

Not that he didn't already do that, but it's worse now.

Vistha Kai1 votes

An exception from the rule.

There is about 5 times as many mages than those immediately changed in the MYMU.

Nearly all of them are getting item nerfs, without any follow-ups.

AsphodelNext1 votes

They better keep things fair and do the same for AD and buff all the AD items while nerfing all the armor items.... oh wait, that happened months ago...
