Yasuo rework - Increasing rewards/fun for skilled Yasuos, and increasing counterplay for opponents

Instead of simply "nerf Yasuo", Ive attempted to isolate the frustrating aspects of playing vs Yasuo and make them more difficult for Yasuo to access. Some of these include his seemingly infinite mobility, his wall, his shield, and his ability to ult off of allied CC. Also a rise in "tank" Yasuo. This rework aims to increase counterplay and reduce frustration when facing Yasuo, while keeping (or even increasing) the aspects of Yasuo that make him fun for his players, and raising his skillcap to further allow skilled Yasuos to shine.

Yasuo Double crit chance passive now tied to his ultimate.

Would increase at level 6 - 1.5x, level 11 1.75x, level 16 2.0x crit chance.

Yasuo Passive shield now generated in a way similar to Renekton fury. Hitting enemies with Q, landing critical strikes, or casting E would generate charges toward a shield. Successfully landing your W knockup skill fully generates or refreshes shield. Shield strength scales off crit chance.

Now requires Yasuo to be active to gain his shield, and rewards skilled players who can land W on their own.

Yasuo Move his wall to his ultimate. Wall is now destroyed if Yasuo dies.

Fairly certain this ability is more powerful then many ultimates already. I wanted to add the ability to destroy the wall either by damaging it or Yasuo, but if its his ultimate skill its power is fine.

Yasuo Move his current ultimate to W, remove the armor pen and reduce the cc duration. Now only works on Yasuos own knockups. Landing W generates an E charge and refreshes his shield. This skill now has no cd, but would have a same-target cd similar to his current E.

Increases skillcap, and allows skilled Yasuo players to have more knockups, more fun.

Yasuo Give him 2 charges on his E. Allow him to use them on the same target. Critical strikes reduce the recharge cooldown.

Now he cant spam infinitely, but he can use them twice on the same opponent.

Feel free to comment or point out any flaws in this rework that I may have missed so we can work together to improve it.

So in a nutshell what you want to do is

  1. Lower his damage output till level 16

  2. Lower his in lane survivability

  3. Make his main defensive tool an ultimate

  4. Remove dueling potential against all but the squishiest champs and remove his team synergy.

  5. Reduce his mobility, which is his main form of outplay potential.

Honestly, I don't see how this could be a balanced rework. Either he is garbage due to a kit that has 0 leniency, or he has such bullshit numbers that he auto win every matchup as long as the player has a basic understanding.

The way I see it, people find playing against yasuo frustrating due to how he requires you to change your playstyle. Instead of just pushing waves and trading, playing against yasuo makes you need to pay attention to wave management, and positioning. But, since most players either cannot, or don't know how to do so, they find him to be OP.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he can't be reworked, just that reworking a champ is t just changing their abilities, it's about seeing why they need to be changed, along with the post change logistics

I feel like I was very fair in this rework when I hate Yasuo.

  1. Lower his damage output till level 16

He has two very powerful passives. I didnt even remove one of them, instead I made it scale up.

Also, he can now use his old ult in lane (more damage) and use his E multiple times on the same person (more damage).

  1. Lower his in lane survivability

He gains survivability for combat. That was the purpose of the shield changes. A skilled Yasuo who lands his old ult/new W on many targets will be constantly refreshing his shield in fights.

  1. Make his main defensive tool an ultimate

Just read the description of the skill. It is an ultimate-level skill that is really silly to exist outside of an ultimate.

  1. Remove dueling potential against all but the squishiest champs and remove his team synergy.

The armor pen? If its going to be move from an ult to a basic ability youre going to lose something. Yes his teamfight potential is decreased but his dueling potential is increased. See my response for 1.

And "team synergy"? Again, its now a basic ability with NO cooldown.

  1. Reduce his mobility, which is his main form of outplay potential.

His infinite mobility is reduced, because its extremely frustrating. In compensation, his mobility is substantially INCREASED vs a single target.

Fuffy says 'read please.' Hmm.

Ironically, for all your shitposting everywhere else, you had me at 'his crit is tied to his ult.'

Please. Make this a thing.

I don't know who ever decided 'double stat' is a valid mechanic.

Thanks for reading. I actually put effort into this one.

I think the only problem is the ult lacks a bit of reward as just the wall. The passive is nice, too, but there should be something... not damage or cc or anything, but some sort of extra benefit?

Ill have to agree. It offers nothing in a fight between melee champs. Maybe he gets boosted AD or something while its up? Or maybe he gets infinite E spams while its up so could blow his ult to escape.

These actually sound pretty sane.

Im not sure about the W if they copy paste the animation and speed it up. they would need to cut out the first two slashes and make it so he dashes up. And slams them down.

His W doesn't knockup, his Q3 does.

I moved his old ult to his W. Read.

But his old ult doesn't cause the knockup? Idk I'm having trouble figuring out what each ability does.

Well idk what its called. extended knockup? I guess it technically doesnt "knock up"

Ohhh he knocks them up, then it holds them in the air longer. That's what it says in game lol.

It's a suppression if I remember correctly.
