@Riot, Why exclude solo players from Hextech Crafting?

I don't see the logic behind this:

If I bring one or more friends with better communication (increasing chances for one of us getting an S-rank) we have a high chance of getting rewards but...

If I earn an S rank by myself from 100% my own skill I have a significantly lower loot drop chance.

Why intentional punish players for independent skill?

Edit: I'm an idiot is forgot you have equal chance for Chests on S ranks but unequal chances for key fragment drops if you win. My point still stands that I feel as though that's a bit unfair

They were looking to reward playing with friends and less to punish solo players.

While that may be right, I still don't think it's fair or smart for riot to do that considering how they already favor qued players

They aren't.

I've managed to get most of my keys and chests playing solo thus far without any issue.

You are just more likely to get free stuff as a pre-made.

Your chances of getting key fragments decrease the more you've gotten throughout the month.

It feels unfair to know that people are being rewarded more for doing the same thing together even though I put more skill/work into it myself. I'd be 100% fine with having the same drop chance however

You have the same chance of getting a chest in a premade of 5 if you get an S rank as you do getting an S rank by yourself, namely 100% (provided you have a free chest slot and haven't already earned a chest on that champion), and the loot you get from that crate is entirely independent of the games played to earn the crate.

Key fragments on the other hand do have a better chance of dropping in a premade, but the grade(s) you get doesn't influence the drop chance at all. It's just a matter of if you win or not (you can only get fragments on wins), and how big your premade is.

In the former case your independent skill matters, but after 4-5 S ranks ceases to matter, and in the later case it only matters in so far as the more skilled you are the more likely you are to ultimately win the match. You're certainly not punished in either case though.

Ah, I mixed up chest rewards and key fragment rewards. I still feel as though it's stupid that a group that I'm playing with has a better chance of being rewarded when we win than I do despite playing the same exact match

The key fragment thing being better for premades is slightly annoying, but I suppose it's not that much worse than how we (solo players) typically get screwed out of bonus IP when those events are happening.

I'm still at around 10 fragments as a primarily solo player though, so they're earnable, slowly but surely. A little behind on what I need to unlock all the S rank chests, but it's not hopeless at least.

I'm in the same position, I think I've unlocked 4 chests so far (so 12 key fragments) but I haven't gotten on in like 10 wins and I just have that last box sitting there. It's frustrating and I feel excluded knowing there are premades out there being rewarded better for doing the same exact thing I do (win)
