Skill in different tiers

It's funny because people always argue with my posts usually gold league players some are silver and so forth. It's funny how they say I'm wrong with my posts using the argument usually I've been gold for since season 2, 3 whatever, and you are just a bronzie what's funny about this is this is my first season I've never done rank before this season, you've been stucked in the same tier for how long now? If I really was wrong, and you were right why am I steadily improving and your ass has been stuck for how many years now? Obviously you are doing something wrong or you would of moved up right? Now I won't argue if you are in gold obviously you are better skilled at the champions you use then the champions I use. But if you are stuck and aren't moving up maybe you need to do more research and try learning what you are doing wrong. That's what I do and slowly but surely I'm starting to move up, and I have no doubt that I will get into plat which is what I want I will start making videos and I will make money off of it while you will be stuck in gold for the rest of the time you play League of Legends never moving up because you have zero desire to change and adapt.

This is too salty for me, I don't give a fuck about ranks in the forums.

I got to mid-gold last season (which was also my first season), and I have a theory that despite us skipping bronze/silver, we should still listen to them.

Hear me out: These players in silver/bronze can be categorized into two groups.

  1. Contains the people who have mechanical skill, but lacks knowledge.
  2. Contains the people who have knowledge, but lacks mechanical skill.

That's why I believe that a silver MAY have advice to a gold that is actually relevant. I've seen people know perfectly well what to do and how to place themselves, without being able to actually go through with it.

I played a game with a diamond friend who was at his mid-gold smurf at the time, playing a normal. I don't give a rat's ass about normal mmr and use it primarily to practice new champions, and as such my mmr brought us down to a silver/bronze level with 2-3 bronze players (2 on ours, 1 on theirs). My diamond friend was surprised by how mechanically well the enemy bronze player played, but said that they went in at random, didn't push turrets/advantages and overall didn't do too well.

Obviously someone who isn't very mechanically skilled won't climb too high, and probably won't have a chance to display their understanding of the game unless they somehow win lane and get to actually push their advantages. Honestly, I've seen platinum players get lost if they don't win lane, never to have an impact throughout the game. Understanding+mechanical skill is what makes a player great.

That's why I think it's important to listen to some of the silver players at least, since they've proven they're not of the bottom-most rank and they do have something going for them.

Well most noobs in bronze are just that noobs thinking everything is op, me on the otherhand I have the mechanics and the knowledge but I lack the skill of my champion to succeed in otherwards I play 9 different champions 5 top 4 bot as an adc and I do good but sometimes I get caught or bad position when a fight begins or miss some cs early on with like jax and teemo. Sometimes I forget that I can hit my e then hit it again to stun them so they have no chance of escape it took me awhile to figure that one out or miss my ult on ashe because I got too anxious. Stuff like that is skill and that's the area I'm lacking right now. I know when to leave a fight I know how to ward I know how to prioritize targets and objectives. It's just the skill of the individual champion that I'm lacking like right now Miss Fortune double up and hitting it at the right time to harrass or my ult blowing it too early in a team fight. Or completely blowing it done that a few times still getting used to attack move and quick cast.

My man, you just contradicted yourself by stating you have the mechanics but not skill. Those two are essentially the same in LoL. x)

Don't want to start a lesson in the comments, I wish you luck in overcoming your weaknesses!

No those 2 are completely different it doesn't take skill to know where to ward it doesn't take skill to not die, it doesn't take skill to go after objectives rather than the kill. Those are mechanics those I understand the skill comes in to learn about every champion in this game and how to beat them that takes skill. To know everything your champion can do is skill. Anyone can aa but knowing when Ashe should use her ult or shoot her vision off or use her q and w combo takes skill. Practice is the only way to can improve your skill while mechanics you learn. Skill you can't teach that comes with time mechanics is something you can learn. Do I ward here or do I ward there no skill required just simply understand of mechanics. You should really learn the difference buddy. Skill and mechanics are completely different my mechanics are way above average for a bronze level player but my skill is right around where I am now maybe a little higher maybe a little lower.

They both are very important to have to move up through rank the more you understand about these 2 areas the more chances you have up moving up. To be really good at one but crappy at the other is contradictory to my goals because I can't have one and not the other, I need both to advance practice is the only way to get better I know where to ward when to fall back how not to die, what targets I should go after, those are mechanics something I'm very good at. But skill is me being able to outplay another person regardless of who they are playing example a Udyr killed me a couple times he got cocky used his speed increased and I baited him away from his team when he got too close to me I used my W to jump over him rather than away from him, drop e on him and activated my q and when he got closed ulted him to create distance then killed him all without taking 1 bit of damage. I could of instead used my w to get further away from him or I could of instead ulted him first but doing that would of moved him out of aa range, so I made a skillful play where if he just stunned me once I probably would of died. That's skill I have some but not enough to get into plat, it doesn't matter where I ward who I focus how safe or aggressive I play when to advance when to fall back which objectives to grab though very important it's only 1 part of this game, knowing your champion takes time and practice what I did to Udyr it was a skill play I outplayed him, that requires the skill to pull that off. Or ulting with ashe to create distance and aa him 4 times to activate my q and kiting my opponent while in between auto's using my volley to keep him away from me, that's skill.

I think you might be a bit deluded...

Alright, so. Knowing (note this verb) where to ward, when to push and otherwise is KNOWLEDGE. That's pretty self-explanatory. MECHANICS covers how well you've mastered the abilities of your champion. You can have good mechanics or your can have bad mechanics. SKILL is therefore the same as mechanics, because both represent how well/skilled you are mechanically (literally means how good you are at pushing buttons at the right time in the right direction) with a champion.

Ever watched a LCS game? The casters will often praise the players for mechanics. Following your logic that'd be the same as praising them for putting down a ward.

I will agree that skill does involve knowledge as well, but when people talk about skill they're mainly talking about mechanics.

You described mechanics beautifully, you just need to know what term is what. ;) Hopefully I managed to clarify that to you.

Yeah your right sorry my knowledge of the game is very high my skill for my champions it's there I make great plays from time to time like the tristana example or a miss fortune ult that kills 3 out their entire team, I just need to be more persistent.

some dont keep spamming ranked. my first season i ended gold 5 in season 3. Season 4 i ended plat 5 and didn't play ranked that much. season 5 i ended plat 1/2 almost diamond and played a decent amount near the end of season, hence my climb almost to diamond. This season i've played a lot and am sitting at plat 2 and i face diamonds on a regular it seems. So yeah some people may not be improving but that doesn't automatically make your points correct. This statement also wouldn't work on me due to as you can see, i am climbing, and i have never been below gold at the end of a season as of yet. I'll probably go check out the posts you have to even see what the arguments are over.

Warding, ban picks, mechanics junglers I talk about a lot of things usually they go over my last few matches I've had where this person did this or stuff I see where I watch these videos and then a paraphrase what is being said in a forum it's mostly rants than anything.

I enjoy the ambition but don't think just getting to plat is going to make you money. It will require a LOT and I mean A LOOOOOOOOOT of work to make money off platinum videos. That doesn't mean you can't do it you have the right attitude to but don't just think if I get plat I will make money.

creatureplex1 votes

No I need to get to plat though before anyone will listen to any advice I have to give. Right now I'm just a bronze player I tell people to ward next to the dragon pit instead of the side bush for more warning people argue no you'll miss one minion I'm like better that than my life. Why you building static shiv well I could use the extra crit bonus, or I need to clear lanes faster and I don't synergize well with runanns.

The funniest thing is how dumb some gold players are, bronze since s3, more than likely gonna make it out this season(more strategy, better champions, and I've learned the ADC role enough to be comfortable)

Thing is, a LOT of gold players have zero idea how to itemize or how to make good decisions on when to teamfight, when to splitpush, or when to back out of a fight.

creatureplex1 votes

They tend to be more stubborn and think they know everything.

SeekerofSilence1 votes

Gold is a middleground, you grasp the game better than a silver but you still lack knowledge/mechanics to be superior over your enemies.

Not stupid per say, just casual players that can't be bothered to educate themselves on the game.

Good dream to follow, please don't be disappointed when they 100 other League Youtubers are already producing the content you want to and getting the same people who would view yours :)

EDIT: What I'm really trying to say here is people watch videos for the person making them. Try to have something unique to your videos or you won't have reason to garner people's limited attention spans.

creatureplex1 votes

Yeah I figured what I plan on doing is a detail annalist of my gameplay then discussing to people situations and mistakes so people can try to find them in their own gameplay.
