Malzahar changes on PBE are going to gut him

Speaking as a malzahar main, voidlings are what makes malzahar good. Voidling management is what separates a good malzahar from a bad or average one. If you remove the effect that voidlings target whoever is being ulted or has malefic vision, there will be no coming back for this champion. He will not be able to recover from this change. You can buff the cooldown, the damage, whatever. It won't matter. Malzahar's entire champion relies on this mechanic, and if you do away with it, you're basically doing away with malzahar.

Voidlings are still attracted to visioned or ulted targets. We just removed it from the tooltip because it was leading to a lot of clutter.

no upvote farming for you, friendo

I thought I read through it well enough but I guess not. This makes me very happy, thank you for this.

It is so sad to see what Malzahar, my favorite champ with over 500K mastery points, has become after the rework. Since then I have only played him a handful of times but I don't feel like a mage anymore since all his spells are garbage. 90% of the damage is controlled by the AI and lack of choices. Voidlings that die to AoE, get smited, can't reach their target, are derping around or killing minions when you would like them to do other stuff and they can't tank turrets anymore. When you reach 6 you also have no kill potential in lane anymore. He just sits there and farms. He can't roam/invade because he dies 1 vs 1. All this has made him unfun to play. There is zero excitement in his kit. I really miss the thrill of playing him. I hardly know any Malz main who likes the rework, hence all my fellow Malz mains in my friendlist have either quit the game or switched to Syndra.

Not to mention the fact that if we even dare mention that new Malz is actually weaker than old Malz, the community will drown us in downvotes because they believe he is op cause pro scene means everything apparently.

not sad about him.

The majority of Malzahar players I see, don't even max their spells correctly, and that's how I know they aren't even mains, or are just nincompoops who never practiced enough. To this day I still see people maxing E instead of his W, which he is supposed to use together with his W to farm now, only relying on your Q to reset your E so you can ensure a clean farming process. I also follow the old recommended item path - starting Rod of Ages instead of morellonomicon because Malzahar frankly doesn't need cooldown all that much due to his E's ability to reset itself, and this is ontop of the fact that Malzahar is a zone-controlling battle mage, meaning if he wants to do his job he has to accept the fact that he might end up taking a blow to the face here or there, which is fine because he has AP and catalyst allows him to get that hp back.

Secondly, if you're not using the rejuvenation mastery to ensure he doesn't run out of mana in the early game, then this a mistake I suggest you remedy immediately as executioner is really only necessary on assassins and even then, not always.

Thirdly, if you don't want your damage to suck early game, and actually want your voidlings to have a consistent impact, then hybrid penetration marks are going to be necessary due to the fact that your voidlings deal hybrid damage to your enemies.

As a Malzahar main all I can say is, whatever you do... do NOT listen to this bronze 5 advice. This is literally the worst advice I have ever seen. This guy has absolutely no idea how to play Malzahar.

would you care to elaborate on that giant pile of nothing you just wrote

I don't think he needs to elaborate. If you don't understand how bad those things are to do on him, then there's probably no convincing you otherwise.

If you can't provide context to your thoughts and just resort to saying something is bad then all it does is paint you as a man who just blows out hot air.
