So the MMR reset for season 7...

Does it mean that if I go 9-1 I have a chance at silver 1/gold? Or does it mean I get my old rank and get bronze/low silver?

I say this because way too many people's MMRs are jacked and they boosted

You're in low silver right now, so it's not likely even a 10-0 would pull you into gold. Though you might have a shot as S1 or S2 with that.

Yeah yeah im just wondering if the mmr reset is like a semi reset in where you would just get a similar rank as last season because I know many people who went 9-1 and got bronze 5 even though they were bronze 3/4/5 last season.

I was silver last season, went 9-1 in promos, got placed in b5. You will get placed in a lower rank than what you have now.

It's all dependent on MMR. If your MMR is low enough going in, even 9-1 might not raise you enough to have an MMR that'll result in you being placed above B5. On the other hand, if you're S3 but your MMR is actually closer to S1/G5, after the soft reset, going 9-1 in placements could still feasibly drop you into high silver.

I've also had a bit of a running theory that due to the measures Riot puts in place to slow down demotions, there's a bit of a 'ranked inflation' over the course of a season. At the start of the season, Riot might assign, let's say, 1300 MMR as the expected MMR for S1. So you'd have to get yourself to 1300 after your placements to be placed in S1. This would mean at the very start of the season, in a hypothetical where everybody has only played their placements and no additional games, the average MMR in S1 would be 1300. But by the end of the season, the actual average MMR in S1 might only be 1200.

So now you've got a player at 1200 MMR in S1 end of season. Soft reset happens, and their MMR is lowered slightly still. Suddenly they're starting out with the expected MMR for S3, despite ending the season at S1.

Generally with the MMR reset you will get a lower rank than you previously had.

you will Always end up lower, regardless of going 10-0 or 0-10 Generally it's an entire league below you (went from G2 to S1 with 9-1 last season)

The only difference between going 10-0 or 0-10 is maybe 1 or 2 division
