Currently on a 8 win streak in ranked and was wondering if I will skip? I didn't skip gold 1 when I had plat 4 mmr so I'm not sure.

This^ You can only go from Gold 1 to Plat V. It is possible to skip the promo games, but not Division V.
Sammander2 votesI had an MMR that was around plat 3 - plat 2 upon completing my gold 1 promos. I did not skip plat 5, but I did skip gold 4 twice (once this season, once last season).
jaymc11301 votesDepends. The lower the total number of games played the more likely it would be. I would guess not given what you've said, but if you stay in the streak and win out the promo series without a loss it's certainly a possibility to skip a division.
