Arizona and the new server

I play in Arizona and I was able to play a match on the new Chicago server. I have 2 connections to choose from and I tested them both during the game; my CableOne connection went from 55 ping to 95 ping and my CenturyLink connection went from 67 ping to 105 ping. Both felt quite awful and I've seen numerous other post by other Arizonans expressing a far greater ping increase that what was expected. Can anyone at Riot possibly look into if there is an Arizona specific networking issue that is causing this abnormally high ping?

Hi, Jack,

Its simple, actually: Distance = Time. Washington was closer, so the signal didn't have to travel as far as it does now to Chicago. Hence the higher ping. Can't change the laws of physics over copper wires. Even with fiber optics, although the ping change probably wouldn't be that significant.

People on the East Coast were complaining about very high pings because of the distance to the servers, which is why they moved them.

Hope this explains it.

It's actually Cox, they're taking a while to sign an agreement with LoL or something like that to assist in the issue with ping. Since Cox is the only good ISP in Arizona, this is most likely the case. I'm in Arizona as well, and I've spent about $600 on League in the last 4 years or so, and I have the same issue, in Phoenix, AZ. Give it some time. Pick up another game while you wait for them to solve the issue.

I'm actually down to 70 now once they actually moved the servers, and I've been getting low 60's since I started using WtFast. I know Cox users are still fucked though.
