I hate Draven's passive, it's either going to make me a massive monster, or It'll have no impact.

I get that he's supposed to be high risk high reward, but his passive is extremely unsatisfying unless you manage to cash in a huge reward.

He's the only ADC that is so heavily reliant on snowballing to the point if he doesn't snowball, he's sort of just there.

Now don't get me wrong, Draven isn't weak by ANY means, but his passive is just not cutting it right now.

His old passive wasn't better as it made him a monster lane bully that nobody wanted to play against, auto with Q then back off and let them tick.

Let's be honest, that's who Draven is.

Matezoide21 votes

One time our bot lane was so bad, Draven was full build in 20 minutes.

God i still have nightmares.

Yes yes, i know he was fed out of his ass and any ADC would carry hard in that scenario and etc, but i will be damned if that shit wasnt scary as fuck.

Champion Skin2 votes

Well the good part is that he won't be getting much stronger

windwolf7773 votes

The only way it could be worse is if he had scaling AD runes instead of flat

A Miss Fortune9 votes

I still like how he's a high risk-high reward ADC.

If he gets fed, he'll oneshot your mid laner.

If he doesn't get fed, he'll still do damage but not be as strong as he could of been.

His laning phase effects his game very hard and I think it's still kind of cool, but I think they should give him a better window of oppertunity to get back into the game.

3TWarrior1 votes

I think they already compensated XD his E can displace katarina, something a lot of supports have trouble doing because only stun and displacement stop her ult unless she hasn't cast it yet, then silence works

SpecterVonBaren7 votes

I really don't see why people think this. Many people consider Zyra's passive to be useless but that doesn't make the rest of her kit rubbish because of it. Many Galio players say that just because Galio's passive makes MR items good on him, it doesn't mean you want to buy every MR item in the game.

Look at it this way, Draven doesn't get less gold from minion kills because of his passive, lots of champions have passives like Diana's where she gets some bonus attackspeed but her base attack speed is below average.

I rank Draven as being the strongest ADC when played to full potential, a good Draven is way more terrifying than a good -insert ADC here-. The only thing that holds a Draven back is his ability to micromanage his axes.

The Bardic Gay3 votes

Zyra's (and by extension, Kog'maw) have a different situation here. They are actually punished for playing optimally by having no passive at all. It's a pretty shitty feeling. At least Draven is rewarded for being good juggling axes, if Zyra or Kogmaw go deathless then they basically went the entire game playing without a passive. It's not like Karthus who is rewarded for his on death positioning and alters he play patterns because the passive is so unreliable it's not even funny. Zyra's plant takes nine million years to aim and is one of the thinnest skillshots in the game, and kogmaw's slight run is worthless as more and more champions have mobility. Both of them deserve something different, honestly.

SpecterVonBaren3 votes

I honestly feel that Kog'Maw's passive is fine. Yes, optimally you wouldn't want to have to use it, but I think it serves a good purpose of giving you one last way to harm your enemies if they manage to get to you. Zyra's on the other hand, is just unsatisfying and feels weak. At least Kog'Maw's passive CAN catch a mobile champ, Zyra's passive struggles to hit someone like Malzahar, I'd rather they get rid of the true damage and make it so she can apply some sort of long lasting snare to someone, whether it be to let her plants finish them off or her adc (If she's support).

I hope you realise that Draven is literally meant to be a feast or famine ADC, which is exactly what his passive allows him to do. One of two scenarios will happen: A: He gets kills and makes bulk cash and hits end game at 30 minutes B: He dies and loses stacks and essentially only has a passive of "+50g per champ kill" meaning he is actually behind is passive worth compared to other ADCs

This is exactly what riot wanted him to be and his old passive was too oppressive I suppose in Riot's eyes.

Noraver6 votes

Draven's passive could have EASILY been fixed.

It used to have a dot that stacked. They removed it because it had too much "hidden power". Well no shit Riot, so why couldn't you just make it REFRESH instead of STACK like the balance geniuses that you are?

They removed the blood from the blood brothers and make Draven one of the most worthless carries if you mess up in lane even once.

The Y2J Problem4 votes

I honestly miss his old passive. It did take his power over the edge, but it was at least something that wouldn't make him as Feast/Famine as he is now.

Wicked Blades was pretty bad in its old form, but it should've been at least tweaked in terms of damage, not just immediately Release LeBlanc (aka Hotfixed immediately). I do think that thematically his present passive is better, but it's less interesting to me. Gaining more money for killing makes sense, since he's an executioner, but making people bleed with his axes is pretty cool in terms of theme.

Either way, I still think I like the old passive better, but I'm not going to say whether or not it is better or worse than the present passive (Probably considerably worse in terms of balance) - I still think his current passive is boring and sort of Feast/Famine

LaserDeathBlade3 votes

I agree Draven's passive is pretty stupid for both sides

JFRANKSTA2 votes

if draven still had his old passive he would always be a monster regardless, you did so much undeserved dmg and never lost trades

Decrous1 votes

I still miss the old passive, even if you had to tweak it, give it the twitch treatment to where it wouldn't do a lot of extra damage just like 18 physical over 3 seconds or something and in reality that would be like 10 damage because of armor.

SlampieceHawke2 votes

I love Draven. Shit on a jinx so well early game. needless to say jinx broken ass came back mid game since she's broken af.

RisenDarkKnight2 votes

Yeah his passive is very thematic but horribly unhealthy for gameplay. He's the only champ in the game who is right to rage at allies for ksing him, every other champ works with kill or assist (except darius ult reset). I used to play a lot of support sona and I always felt terrible if i accidentally took a kill with q because it coudl cost us the lane whereas another adc would jsut get like 100 less gold.

smakta1 votes

I agree, 400 +games Draven last season, reached dia 3. Draven's old passive was much better

Champion Skin1 votes

Well of course it was.... It was darn OP and it was always good be it you got kills or not (though with that OP passive getting kills would be easier)

Fadedpf1 votes

This is true. But you get a really good feeling when playing him. Hes one of the cockiest guys out there. Beating him feels good and winning as him feels good. Either way I just like his Character

FluxBound1 votes

But that's what makes him special. He's not just another lane bully

femmé1 votes

eh draven is meant to be strong enough to the point were getting a kill after ten minutes of farming can win you a game. When he's behind it's not bad, I mean he's not as good as say jinx who just needs to win one teamfight to be stronger than everyone in the game but he's still solid as long as he's getting farm. My point is, draven will one shot your adc or mid laner if he gets super far ahead. When he's behind he's still dealing a lot of damage but his passive wont be getting him 500 gold...more like 100. I have been against someone who was 3/0 and I was 0/2 and I was able to farm for 5 minutes and get a kill allowing me to have an equal build as the guy who was 2 kills ahead of me.

Big Bang Bob1 votes

If there's one reason to complain about ksing, it's being Draven.

Assists are worthless. Only kills can snowball you to your ultimate form:

best passive in the game deal with it.

BlackSunNocturne1 votes

Why not have Draven get his old passive back on top of his gold generation passive, but with a slightly less strong bleed? That way, he'll still be relevant, just not an absolute monster.

Lugg7 votes

Not only no, but HELL NO.

Dunkrius2g2 votes

Why not put Draven's passve on top of Darius's passive and let it have the scaling of Lee sin's ult? (I love using other people's logic =D)

Will never happen. Unless you reduce its effectiveness of both passives by 50% and i still wouldn't even let that change go live/PBE.

terkmc1 votes

But what is weird is that to best utilize it, you would wanna kill a guy, farm for sometime to get stack up and then kill another guy, as it give little incentive to perform multikills because then he has no stack the subsequent cashing makes nothing

Champion Skin1 votes

Draven's passive always give at least 50 bonus gold on each kill So you do gain a little even when you get multiple kills in a row

Ethereal Sun1 votes

Not Draven, Draaaaaaaayven

Earl Eulrich1 votes

absolutly agree, the passive really is toxic by design - making him one of the most binary champs there are.

I Main Swain1 votes

technically speaking, I wouldn't say that he isn't weak by any means. his axe catching system, imo, is poorly done. it's basically a glowing sign telling the enemy team "THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE IM GOING TO BE IN EXACTLY THIS MUCH TIME IF I WANT TO CONTINUE DOING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE!!! AIM YOUR SKILL SHOTS HERE!!!" I think that on top of giving him a better passive, they should make it so his axes either have a larger radius to catch them or a window in which he can catch them rather than an instant.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

i think it´s really good design (although a little annoying to play soemtimes), it really makes him relay on his team to get the freedom to catck axes and wreck havoc. Currently CW still forces Draven bans in the Eu LCS not only because just Freeze is damn strong on Draven, but because they can use him so well as a team.

I Main Swain1 votes

im not saying that it's a bad design, im just saying that the way it currently is makes him just way too easy to play against. all of his damage is tied to an ability that makes him ridiculously vulnerable. im not saying they should make it harder for them to aim for the hitbox or anything like that, i just want to be able to catch my axes without always tanking a blitz grab or making an ally tank it for me. more often than not if someone fails to hit you with a skill shot when you go to grab your axe, then they either screwed up at hitting you or successfully stopped you from catching 3/4 of your damage.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

this game is not supposed to be played 1v5, and some champs reflect it better than others. If you don´t want to be as dependant on your team to be willing to do everything it needs for their carry to suceed, even throwing themselves into blitz hooks, then there´s always Caitlyn...

I Main Swain1 votes

you're still missing the point. his axes make it so that there will be 1 of 5 scenarios (under the assumption there are enemies around)

  1. they just let him go to town for whatever reason

  2. they somehow miss their skill shot despite the large target

  3. they successfully stop draven from catching his axe

  4. they hit draven and, depending on what he was hit with, probably either kill him or do a pretty good amount of damage straight off

  5. his team has to tank it and the damage or cc that comes with it

essentially, it makes it so that against a good team, you or your team are almost guaranteed to be punished. all my suggestion would do is give draven a means of dealing with said problems he faces.

windwolf7771 votes

Meh. Or remove the indicator for enemies

FooDang1 votes

His passive is boring. The End.

YossarianSensei1 votes

I hate his passive, it bothers me so much when Jungler/Support takes a kill when they know I'm sitting on 400 stacks. It causes too much stress to get a kill and it honestly makes me play worse and be more toxic to my teammates because I have to try so hard to cash his passive before I die.

He's an immobile ADC with a weak early game, his passive really makes no sense.

LaserDeathBlade1 votes

Same here.

I don't usually rage at my support, but when I do, it's because I have a ton of stacks on Draven and my Thresh can't land a hook to save his life.

3TWarrior1 votes

his passive is still one of the best because he scales like any ADC either way. he gets 2-3 gold per stack and gains a stack for A killing a minion/monster or B, catching a spinning axe. if you manage to get your kill, you gain a ton of bonus gold that few have such a luxury

LaserDeathBlade1 votes

Well most of those other ADCs have a passive so you can't really say he 'scales like any ADC either way'

His passive is just lame; Feast or Famine is a bad design principle.
