Why are people not picking Stormraider's that often?

I think it's an amazing mastery and it can be used on a LOT more champions than it currently is. Like people only really know it on Ryze Nasus and maybe Riven but I think there are some other champions who alo can make tremendous use of it but you just never see it on them.

For example, what is Gangplank known for? Dealing a ton of burst damage every few seconds or so with his barrels. When do you want to pick Stormraider's? When you have burst damage available to you every 10 seconds! It's just perfect for him, I can't see why you would use it over Thunderlord's, especially since Thunderlord's is so hard to proc because you have to get into melee range for it.

Then there's Veigar , another champion on which people primarily use Thunderlord's even though he has enough burst already and since he has 0 mobility and really shitty base stats he really almost kind of needs the extra movement speed for Stormraider's, it's a perfect match.

And these are just the two examples that really stick out to me personally, there are a lot of other champions on which it should be really good on: Ahri Akali Anivia Annie Chogath Diana Draven Ekko Elise Evelynn Galio Graves Hecarim Illaoi JarvanIV Jayce Jhin Kassadin Katarina Kennen Khazix Leblanc LeeSin Lissandra Lux Mordekaiser Orianna Pantheon Rengar Shaco Syndra Talon TwistedFate Velkoz Viktor Xerath Zed Ziggs

I used it on veigar. Thunderlords is better on Ahri (already mobile) Akali (Mobile) Anivia can a ton of cc so she doesent need it might be good on Annie Cho has cc Diana is mobile Draven Deals a ton so youll be dead before the speed boost kicks in. (and he has a speed boost) Ekko already has a speed boost and 1 slow and 1 slow/stun Elise has her rappel Eve has a speed boost Galio has a speed boost Graves has his dashes Hec it might be good on Illoai doesent need it I'm tired of writing these so ill sum It up Most champs either already have dashes or speedboosts, or Cc to lock down enemies

Generally, they prefer having more damage for trading or bursting targets.

TBH, the description makes it feel like a trap. Its not but when i see:

"Deal 30% of enemies max health within 2.5 sec ... "

I wonder, if i can deal 30% of my enemies max hp with 2.5 seconds, why dont i just pick a stronger mastery, ie thunderlorde's., and just do a couple of rotations of what i would have done to proc stormraiders in the 1st place.

Hope that made sense.

If they ever change Jhin's interaction with Deathfire Touch I'll probably run it. Can't really ever go wrong with more movespeed and slow resist.

You run thunderlords on GP nowadays for the extra burst on your ult. Can be hard to execute enemies without it since it has been nerfed quite a bit.

The reason I wouldn't really run stormraiders on GP is that you shouldn't hypothetically be in that frontline position where stormraiders is most beneficial (whereas on someone like Ryze you have to get a little more up-close). The tenacity is nice, but you shouldn't be hitting a barrel combo and charging in ignoring slows anyway since you have to space yourself carefully from your enemy as GP. Ryze and champs like Aurelion Sol build a lot more tank stats so they can get in a more vulnerable position with the speedboost/tenacity

Not only that, but the speed boost isn't really used as well by GP as it is by other champs. Aurelion sol or Ryze for example really have to stick to their targets and do dps over time, whereas even with the speedboost you are unlikely to get a second barrel combo on the same enemy unless it's a 1v1. GP is a lot more 1-and-done in a teamfight in that sense as opposed to champs that normally run SS. Not saying that it's the most garbage thing ever, in fact there isn't really anything wrong with a speed-boost and slow resist in any situation, but I just think thunderlords is better.

I do believe Moves speed is good but the other champions that you pointed out could use it but the other key stones are just a better option compared Stormraider's

Some champions doesnt really need the movement to repossession and some champions already have so much mobility that Stormraider's is basically useless.

So yeah, Stormraider's is ok but some dont really need that keystone.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

I used to take it all the time on Akali, but now that her damage has been gutted taking Thunderlord's is a must on her.
