Why the fuck are adcs starting relic shield?
It's like doran's shield all over again. I don't get why would you gimp yourself that way.

Its not a gimp they last hit anyways so they share the gold with the support so they cam rush an ardent as fast as they can
It is gimping, because they're sacrificing their early game to buy the relic shield, instead of damage output. What this will end up doing is getting Relic Shield nerfed into the ground because fucking ADCs can't keep their grubby hands off of shit. ADCs abusing items by using them inappropriately is how almost every item that isn't AP gets nerfed into oblivion.

Yeah, tank supports are going to get fucked because adcs are abusing their items.
And how they have been. The new changes removing the support quests and replacing them with dumpy sightstone quests is exactly the backlash we got because ADCs and top laners wouldn't stop abusing Relic Shield, among other things. Supports now have their diversity in item selection gutted because of Relic Shield being abused.
It ain't theres. It's a free item to buy for anyyyyone - - - what wins games?[katarina-love]
but why is it "gimping" if they might get it nerfed hehe
Has anyone mention nerfing it? Its not anywhere ive seen. I dont think its abuse. Theyre sacrifing a bit of damage to provide their support with some gold. Theyre trading a tad bit of early trading power for survivability and gold gen for the support. Its only taken on a few ADCs that are playing into tough matchups.
Sadly that's actually more the fault of ardent censer being an overpowered piece of shit, the ardent censer aura adcs get is worth more to them than the doran blade, hence they funnel the gold(albeit in a weird way) into their support to get it as fast as possible, to reach the censer spike as fast as possible.
Still not a gimp they are still getting full gold me and my duo did that a bit in silver and on his first back he would get a cull so he could get a little bonus gold the first 5-7 min of laning phase isnt a "lets just brawl and see who gets more kills before we start to roam" its more of a "im going to collect as much gold as i can so i can get an edge when we start to roam" the higher the elo the safer people play no one is gonna push into a tower against an adc with great waveclear and a thresh/blitz
you are completely retarded, ur saying that if an item works and gets you to win more games you shouldnt use it because it is not ment to be build in a specific role??? Go tell that to every single player who plays competitive, they ll smack your brains out
The item works, yes, but it's not being used as it is intended. When people break meta with items that grant advantages that were not supposed to be for them in the first place, this gets items nerfed into the ground. For instance, the reason
was garbage for MANY years was because ADCs abused it by rushing it as a lane buy to punish the enemy ADC for trying to trade with them.
was also abused by sustain tanks like Vladimir when they first added the heal/shield increase to it , and that ended up getting the items slapped with limitations and restrictions. When items are built by classes that are abusing them in unintended ways, it's detrimental to the classes who actually need the items to function, such as Support tanks who need
. Just because competitive players use these items inappropriately doesn't mean that it's healthy for the game.
The meta is based on analysis of what is currently strong and what could work as a counter to that. If it's strong it's part of the meta.

in order to fix this all, they would have to do make it a melee item only.... would not hurt the tanks that use them. the only one it would hurt is thresh. however if they want thresh to use it they can just make him melee again.
But I like my
on Thresh, keep him ranged
Most likely they watched a Phylol video about the exact start.
Because Korea.
Apparently boards won't be happy with adcs until they build the same items every game. Even when they build a support item, to help their support, they aren't happy.
I'm all about playing the game your way, but when I'm playing Thresh, I'm not buying Ardent Censer. I'm not trying to support you early game. I'm trying to make plays. I want to hook them, go in, and have them die. When I see my Ashe go first item relic shield, and then rush build into Targon's, I cry inside. Because now I can't go in. I can't make plays. My engage is worthless because my Attack Damage Carry is more concerned about me getting enough gold to get boots than they are about attacking, damaging, or carrying. By all means, play the game how you feel, but play the role you call. You don't see me rushing a Infinity Edge on Braum, don't rush Targon's on Quinn
Every time I look at builds in regards to most roles, the supposed builds with the highest win rates, typically start with an abnormal or potentially uncommon first item. The item either is stand alone in terms of its function, or is intended to build into something else that usually winds up being a core item for said champion. If it works, why the hell does it matter?
Support gets ardent faster + 3 pots
I'm scratching my head over how this works. I thought relic shield only procs off basic, melee attacks. So how does a ranged marksmen use Relic Shield?
Same way thresh does
The proc you're talking about is an execute, where a minion is killed by a basic auto once they fall below the hp threshold. This applies only to melee champions however, but ranged champions can still share the gold and health from last hitting a minion.
Don't forget that at a certain point of gold earned relic gives you a free shield passive. I use this start on twitch
League of Targon was a decent meta.
Not really gimping themselves when it is helping boost their support, who will help protect them later game(unless the support leaves and/or is rude). It's a risky tradeoff in hopes of having a support that can help them a ton by mid game instead of late game.
As for Doran's Shield, it provides sustain against poke so they can stay in lane longer than with Doran's Blade(not as useful if the enemy is only farming but that rarely happens in lower elos since they are all about kills)
Because ardent and support items are so overpowered that going relic + your support going gp10 runes is actually really good.
It is a very specific interaction with a rune in order to gain a large health shield that can impact trading early and mid game fairly effectively..... combine it with Overheal in the precision tree and you get a 20% max hp health shield.
I agree and was suprised, (i'm in my first year of league). BUT THIS IS WHAT MAKES LEAGUE SO FRESH AND EXCITING. I don't understand half of the shit and something is always changing slightly, there is nothing completely set. I hated starting out in league when people flamed me for "YOU DON'T DO THAT, YOU'RE A SUPPORT YOU IDIOT" or something other flamey, i'm like bruh....what if I find the magical solution. Which I really haven't but, anyways, it's all interesting and keeps me on my toes. No one says this role has to be the most damage or whatever...a win is a win is a win. And that's what we ALL want to do. [zombie-brand-clap]
I think its funny noones complaining about all the mid laner champs going support now.
Relic shield gives crazy sustain to both ADC and Support, so it doesn't really matter if you do more damage because they can definitely out sustain you.
I've been seeing relic shield on pretty much every adc now and I'm here like here we go again xD It's definitely interesting, but people aren't even taking the match up into consideration. It's just that "everyone else is doing it, let me do it too" mentality and that's what's really frustrating. Like please do some research before jumping off the cliff lmao
