If you don't know how to use teleport properly you might as well take ignite or exhaust

No point in taking a Summoner Spell if you are just gonna waste it. 99% of the time all I see are people using it to get back to lane or doing fail tp ganks bot that never work out.

that's literally one of the biggest reasons why people take teleport.

That's also one of the biggest reasons the spell exists.

If I want to go back and shop and get back in time so my enemy can't get a lead out of it... I usually just go and kill them. Works like a charm ^^

Or you died and want to get back to lane quickly to minimize their advantage, or you TP back after killing and recalling to increase yours, or you recall back from losing a lane to pick up a quick item to turn it around and TP back before they gain an advantage.

It's got a pretty big list of possibilities and strats

I do not die in my main lane.

And if I do, I usually take the enemy laner with me. (Thanks to my favourite spell: summoner 14 )

Also, the TP advantage can be ruined really easily: usually when I am the jungle I gank top early, so they die o have to b and use their tp. But then I come AGAIN and suddenly they have to walk and my laner is massively head now ^^

Against players who ward, that strategy tends not to work out...

SaltyToplaneGoat1 votes

Actually it does. It just makes stuff a little more complicated with timings and rakkor buff/red trinket/own pink.

Come -> clear ward -> they go defensive.

Wait and clear a camp until they no longer suspect you coming.

-> get a kill ^^

I'd much rather get a kill on my lane opponent than just tp back to lane so I don't miss 10 farm.

10 farm is almost a kill. And TP allows an exp lead

Killing someone with ignite means you get to back with more gold which means an item lead. The farthest they can get ahead in exp because you had to walk back to lane is very little and the gold they got from the minions is in their bank instead of being spent like you did for the item lead. Use the item lead to snowball the lane and win. Kill them every time ignite is up and keep snowballing. Won't matter that they have teleport over you if they have to keep using it to get back to lane.

Killing someone is usually 300-400 gold lead. It can be a bit more if it was a FB, or minion wave you took for free after killing them is exceptionally big.

A single level-up easily equalizes that - i.e. a Darius will get 440 gold in HP and AD alone. With armor, MR, HP5 and AS it gets to about 570.

Taking a combat summoner works for bronze players like you and me( i take one too), because in bronze people tilt easily. In high-level play tho, it seems there is near 0 reason to ever take combat summoner on top.

That is entirely champion dependent. If you snowball hard, sure go ignite, but if you're a regular top laner that doesn't scale all that well with items, then you should always go tp. Theres a reason why you don't see nasus or shen go ignite

Dear bot lane. I'm not going to teleport to the middle of the creep wave because you have no wards down behind your enemies in a vain attempt to help save you from your visionless overextension.

Sincerely,

Your top laner.

Seems like you're the one who doesn't understand the purpose of teleport.

SaltyToplaneGoat3 votes

I always take ignite.

TPing into bot would require me to have trust into my teammates skill.

And if there is anything I have learned in five years of LoL: never expect anything from anybody. Unless proven otherwise they suck. So TP is a risk I am not willing to take.

I mean if im vs someone annoying in lane where I will get harrased so hard

I rather have tp to get back to lane to get my exp and gold

Teleporting back to lane is sweet! If I get an early kill against my top lane opponent, I can shove the wave, back, buy stuff, then TP back in and meet them with a nice advantage to continue bullying. All the sweeter if the enemy took exhaust or ignite, because now I'm like four waves of xp and gold ahead of them.

Dreadlocks2 votes

U realize that if sm1 takes ign/exh top and they get first blood, depending on the creep positioning, more often than not the guy with TP will come out with a XP lead and possibily even a CS lead which then fucks you even harder.

Akali is SO HOT3 votes

The person with ignite/exhaust got to back with a lot more gold and is in a position to kill you again because of the item advantage. After they come back they can bully out the lane opponent with the lead and snowball the game.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Def not always the case. Ive gotten first blood so many times only to lose lane after because the other guy took TP and gets the wave of minions i couldnt afford to stay and push.

How about enlighting us on some proper uses of the teleport spell. I am still learning the game. I try hard to use the spell to help other lanes and sometime I feel like I am wasting it. Can you offer some suggestions for improvement instead of just pointing out the flaws?

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

The problem with the spell is that it's only good in organized play. It's hard to trust your teammates down bot lane for a tp gank because people that play this game are terrible at communication. Anything below Diamond or high Plat there's really no such thing as organized play. If you are doing 3 mans in ranked or playing with your friends in normals then you can take teleport because it would be a lot better in that situation. Taking exhaust/ignite is much better because you can snowball your lane and then use that lead to snowball other lanes and carry the game. Try not to put your trust into your teammates hands. It's not so much a problem with whether or not the player uses it well, but rather how the game is setup outside of organized play.

If it's not for getting back to lane or ganks, what's it for then?
