I'm wondering if Riot is planning something for mages/AP champions soon
Looking at the Mundo changes on PBE got me thinking about how many counters to mages and magic damage threats we've gotten recently.
You have the
rework, who is meant to be a strong counterpick to AP threats
And
who thrives in fights against spammy champions, a lot of whom are mages
There's
which is being buffed again, it's a counter purchase to DoTs and spammy mages
And now we have
, a juggernaut who gives himself as much as 30% extra MR for taking magic damage, and his W now deals magic damage to himself, which basically becomes a permanent MR buff late game. He may become THE hard counter to mages while being a considerable damage threat himself
All of these changes meant to counter magic threats was a little confusing at first, because heavy-AP comps haven't really been a thing for a while now due to the raw effectiveness AD champions have, and the fact that 90% of the fighter roster has armor shred built into their kit. Maybe this is just a preemptive measure before Riot decides to tinker with APs again? Maybe they want to see the return of magic-heavy teams?
just a thought, maybe I'm looking into it too much
being the like 90% best starting item for the vast majority of mages, or the lack of actual itemization, and real choice.
for example feels weaker than it should as the prime late game, scaling item. I really hate the actual need for this item as well
