How do you counter right clicking champions such as Jax?

You can't really outplay them in the microgame. You have to be able to counter their splitpush and beat them in the macrogame. That's why a lot of "point-and-click" champions are so strong in lower tiers of play (see: Nasus, Jax, Garen, Tryndamere). Lower tier players just simply don't have the skillset to effectively counter a good splitpusher. Buy lots of control wards to light up your jungle and deny the enemy team vision of your movements. Rotate across the map to kill the splitpusher while the rest of your team holds the other lane. Picking a good jungle and top lane with good catch potential is essential for warding off a splitpusher, while meanwhile the rest of your team should have strong disengage and waveclear to hold the tower 3v4. A good example of a team to counter splitpushing would be Jarvan top, Nocturne jungle, Lux mid, Tristana adc and Janna support.
Honestly, I would just ban them over a meta pick. I got to Plat playing Riven and I still cannot beat Jax or Trynd because they scale too hard and you have to have really great mechanics to beat them.
If you play a tank though I would suggest building
Easy. Don't let them right click you.
His Q doesn't make it easy to get away.
i would need more information as to what your problem is with jax besides saying hes just point and click
Dodge the AA.
But really, Rammus their faces in.
Thornmail, hard cc, shut them down before they scale up.
