What is everyone's opinions on Kassadin so far?

I'm kind of curious whats everyone experience with Kassadin so far this patch. I've only seen him in 3 games since the patch and I don't feel that's enough to make assumptions about him. In those 3 games, he did extremely well in 2 of them. He becomes uncatchable when he hits level 16 with even just 25% CDR (20% CDR item, 5% masteries). The third game didn't do poorly, but he wasn't carrying his team like the other 2 games. It is noticeable that he still takes time to ramp up. His early game is mediocre until he gets some items. So there is a trade off between early and late game power, as has always been the case with Kass

So what has everyone's experience been like so far with him? I refuse to make assumptions based on just 3 games so I would like other people's feedback. Still weak? Balanced? Strong?

Had a game where I was against a kassadin, won lane easy. Then mid game comes around and he has a few kills under his belt and he just snowballed from there.

People complained about too much mobility in league and when Riot tightens the reins on a champ the community goes mad. I'm probably just feeling bitter about it. But he just got to the point of being unkillable.

I've been having similar experiences. If he can actually make it to late game he becomes extremely strong

This is true , til u get rank 2 of his ult he feels kind of weak , after that (lvl 11) it all gets better , u just need to hold til he gets his mobility going ( 6 sec cd for that small blink isnt that good when it is ur ultimate)...

Still , after u get to lvl 11 he feels kinda weak , after that he feels "a bit on the strong side".

I had a game with a Kass who got a few kills under his belt. He was facing Kat (RIP) and I think he's finally in a good place. He couldn't just ignore Nautilus and go straight into the back (and kill Kat), could actually lock him down with CC, and overall despite him getting fed, stalling till late game pulled us through.

Overall, Kassadin may finally be in a good place.

Never thought I'd get to hear someone say that...

After all the buffs and nerfs, it comes down to this: Q-Slight dmg nerf R-Big Range nerf small CD buff R-Mana cost buff

To me its an overall nerf, I've tried skipping out on RoA/Tear (passive early game items) and getting more damage oriented items early to see if I could get away with it since the mana cost was lowered, and I wasn't very satisfied. Overall still fun to play.. but I wouldn't say he's stronger by any means.

Eedat1 votes

Yes but now the option of going Tear into Seraphs and building a frozen heart for the CDR, added mana pool and damage, and the armor is quite appealing on him as well. The 20% CDR really helps him a ton at level 16

Dreadlocks1 votes

I 100% agree friend, I just don't think its much different than before... Like I said his range was hugely nerfed his Q got a small nerf for slightly lower CD on ulti and a lower mana cost. After all this You still need RoA or Tear (tear for shield) Or you will get blown up.

The few that I saw do really well built item 3070 -> item 3027 -> item 3020 -> item 3040 -> item 3157 -> item 3110 or item 3089. I dont remember if he built Deathcap or Frozen Heart first tbh

Dreadlocks1 votes

Thats a pretty standard build even before the recent changes to kassadin.

Eedat1 votes

I dont really recall seeing a ton of item 3110 on Kass before. Also remember a item 3135 being in there somewhere before

Dreadlocks1 votes

Forsure, like i said its PRETTY standard not 100%.. I would say

item 3027 item 3020 item 3157 item 3089 item 3135 item 3100 Was or Is the most common build for kassadin

Eedat1 votes

Yeah I remember seeing that more frequently. I think item 3110 is more popular mostly for the CDR as it was kinda hard to find room for CDR in his old "standard" build. The extra damage and mana is more of a bonus :p

Dreadlocks1 votes

Kassadin's burst is still strong just not nearly as strong, hes kind of turned into a "mage" rather than an "assassin" In a way you could say item 3110 is like item 3102 to an extent.. the (1 defensive item) thing.

Reazale1 votes

Actually , the 20% CDR would help more pre 16 as it would reduce his more ( 20% of 4 >20% of 2 :D).

Truthteller2 votes

He is definitely strong after the changes. Every Kassadin I've seen went positive and there was basically nothing the enemy laner could do once he hits level 6 to stop him from roaming.

Ban worthy? Maybe.

Eedat1 votes

To be honest I was considering him ban worthy as well. It seems that once he gets going, there's little you can do to stop him outside of him making a mistake. I didn't want to make generalizations about him just from 3 games though

Wheatloaf1 votes

Late-game or snowball-reliant champions tend to be strong in soloqueue, especially at lower ranks, because of how hard they carry when ahead. So, yeah, kass is probably a good ranked ban.

Now that Riftwalk is being tuned to be a bit healthier, maybe they can give him a little damage back.

This patch, he is currently sitting at a 42% winrate, so he is still garbage, but the changes were an ok start.

i like him tho

42% is pretty average, if it goes over 50 theres something wrong and if its under 40% then theres an issue.

With old Kassadin, even if you bullied him out of lane he would just use his mobility to roam bot and get fed anyways.

My friend has been using him as AD Kassadin and so far has been doing pretty good.

BubbaDuke1 votes

I feel like he's in a really good place right now.

I played against one who went top lane and rushed RoA. He was strong, but not overwhelmingly.

Beoridas1 votes

to me. hes still very subpar to leblanc, and zed in both dmg and mobility (outclasses zed when late game) his risks and dmg is HIGHLY subpar to both of them. im satisfied with his late game dmg tho. i do think they should make him like other assassins. cause he cant do jack shit early. and thats untrue for any late game carries.

edit: the issue is also that there is a lot of variable in the game. what if sej is fed? or leblanc? it gets really really hard from there. i think maybe add a 25-50 to his ult? (25 better) , mana cost on his ult is PERFECT. base dmg needs to be toned up imo.

edit2: he was supposed also to be an anti mage. and i dont feel his passive is making it to be like it besides the laning phase. they could make his void stone empower as the game passes, then he would even become niche. hiw shield on his Q is frankly laughable. i miss his silence. kept overbearing champs in line likeL Ahri Annie Fiddlesticks Fizz Katarina Leblanc Nidalee Taric (for the lulz)

still weak because leblanc/katarina/ahri/nidalee

Well, Riftwalk's been cut down, nice start to buffing him a bit

But until they buff up the rest of his kit's damage, I will still see AD/Mana Bruiser Kass as the better option. Why? Same early game, stronger mid-game, almost equally powerful lategame, and much less snowball reliant because it's easier to farm and splitpush

Kass is weak early-game no matter what build, but with an AD/Mana build he's already stronger mid-game with a Hydra, Manamune, and Sheen already as opposed to ROA/Zhonyas and with FH and Banshees/GA + Muramana Active you're a 40% CDR tanky mofo who can dive the backline and still deal enough damage to take out the ADC with Q+W

End-game, AD Kass is basically the same as AP Kass. You jump in and take out the squishies, difference though is your E is only for the slow, your Q/W do close to the same damage, but your sustained damage is much stronger. Also, he's really damn good at splitpushing towers and dueling the enemy ADC or escaping when the good squad comes to chase him down

Hell, I could even go full balls deep and replace Banshees/GA with a LW for even more damage vs an all AD team

The last patch just buffed AD Kassadin a bunch and was meh for AP

KaisadiIIa1 votes

Overnerved champion. But people will still complain because "omg free flash", even if he deals no damage.

RIP Tahm Kench1 votes

Still pathetically weak, and one of his hardest counters chogath can both silence him to stop his shenanigans and push the lane extremely hard to make him lose farm under tower while denying him roam. I honestly laugh when I see one the enemy team and dodge when he's on mine.
