Yasuo counterplay

Trick1F··1 votes·1,073 views

What is it? I've tried tanky, damage, just about everything I can think of top lane. Is the answer just a hard cc champ? Like, I know that's the only counter play for him atm but as soon as it wears off I still get bursted down insanely fast.

Any tips besides "ban him" would be greatly appreciated.

I love Jayce top against Yasuo. Anyone with a powerful early game kills him well enough, Jayce just has that feeling of being every bit as technical as Yasuo, and it makes outplaying him satisfying. You can also go with Renekton.

Or, if you're against him in the mid lane, just never get his by his Q whirlwind. Avoid getting hit in general, but harass him for getting close, and don't let him hit you with his easily-avoided knockup.

If you're in the top lane, this could work.

It's a very detailed guide by a very experienced player who notes that Jayce and Urgot are very similar. Even if you don't use Urgot, I'd still read what he has to say about fighting Yasuo, just for overall help.

I've beaten him as Nidalee before. That was mid, but it shouldn't be too different. Take advantage of your range and heal to harass and out-trade him. You should be able to force him out of lane, or finish him off in cougar form.

Is this pre or post rework Nidalee that you're talking about? I believe that Yasuo was considered a counter pick to the old AP Nidalee, although I confess I'm not really familiar with the 1v1 dynamic on this patch.

The counters to yasuo include:

Hard control champions. Usually these are also tanks, like leona.

Burst mages. No questions there, ones like xerath do the best as he has a lot of damage yasuo can't block.

And finally, early game bullies. Pantheon and Renekton should do well, not saying always.

Vladimir also does well against Yasuo. As does Jayce. You'd think with his wind-wall, putting him against a ranged champ would give him the advantage, but sure, he can block a few attacks, but he can't block either of the above champion's ultimates, and in the case of Vlad, his Q still damages through the windwall, he just can't regain health from it if the 'projectiles' don't get through on their way back to him. Jayce gets most of his powers off cooldown much quicker than Yasuo's windwall, and if Yasuo closes the distance, he can just transform hammer, and match or even exceed Yasuo's damage that way. Also both champs are pretty decent at avoiding the tornado. I've also had alot of success countering Yasuo with Wukong.
