New Gangplank is worse than the old gangplank.

He's not a tank, he has no engage, not really a reliable counter engage, no hard cc, his heal is weak in terms of the tradeoff he loses having it as a high cooldown skill. He can do more damage if he builds super squishy but he doesn't even have a speed steroid any more. It just feels very clunky at the moment and seems that even with decent farm he doesn't have a true identity. I know much of this resonates with pre-rework GP, but I was hoping there would be some changes.

Well... anyone can build tanky, so that's a moot point, imo. Being a tank is more about CC, which old GP wasn't either.

No engage, sure, but many champs don't. Especially fighters. MOST especially fighters with strong poke. It's fine. Also, old GP didn't have this either.

His R is great counter engage. It isn't Riot's fault if your team sucks and can't use it correctly, or if you aim it poorly. Not everything can be a skillshot. Again, neither did old GP.

Old GP; no hard CC.

His W is not primarily for healing. It's for removing CC. Old GP was similar. I didn't look at numbers before posting, but his old heal wasn't great either.

He may not have a speed steroid, but old GP's was clunky. It was a frequent, valid criticism, and the new barrel minigame is quite fun, and engaging.

I'm not sure what space you think he should occupy, but I seem to remember from the Riot stuff about it that he should be a good split pusher. Have you considered using R for global presence while you split? Using W and E to keep you safe while you do it, and Q to get even more gold as you approach late game? Seems to me that's where he would be successful. He doesn't need the tools you describe to be a good fighter.

Nah, the only thing that really changed alot is the E, and that is honestly better than a steroid. He is more a tanky utility pick than anything.

Literally all they changed is made his Q better, gave his E some nice touches, his R can be upgraded, and they changed his E THATS IT. He is better now so stop saying he was trash, when his old kit was worse.

I really hate his new passive, 15 sec per proc is that normally gets wasted on a minion is junk. The new E is ok, but I still prefer the old one which allowed for easier turrent pushing. Over all I'd rather have the old GP power set over the new.

Kind of wish that self speed buff from Raise Morale was on his W.

really don´t like the casks...i mean they are great waveclear and somehwat insane aoe-dmg lategame if you happen to crowd-cc everyone beforehand, but they just feel like somewhat pesky for everythign else. His passive doesn´t make up for pistoling a barrel if the barrel doesnßt reach the opponent - so you canßt fancily hide them and boost your duelling that way, it´s just somewhat weird. I really miss the old, straight forward GP.

GP was never a top-tier pick and i dont believe he ever will be. His kit doesn't allow it. However, i do believe there are some top-tier picks that will never fade out of the spotlight (Riven, Tryn, etc.) unless reworked.
