What do you guys think about the Runeglaive nerf?

So what do you guys think about the Runeglaive nerf? Do you think it was the right direction to keep the aoe damage on monsters only? Will this kill off Ezreal mid? Does this now make Lich Bane rightfully more expensive than Runeglaive?

I want to hear some thoughts on this item change!

A quick question however... If you are in the jungle fighting with an enemy in a monster camp... oh let's say Dragon, if the enemy has a Runeglaive, and hits the dragon, and Runeglaive procs, does the aoe damage still hit you, even though the initial damage point was the monster?

I think it's horrible. Cinderhulk's Immolate affects champions when in combat, Sated Devourer applies the double on-hit affect on champions, why can't Runeglaive have the AoE magic damage? Runeglaive fails to help junglers in combat.

On the topic of the changes themselves: while this certainly reduces Runeglaive's PvP combat power, our decision to push its damage onto monster camps also highlights an important place for Mage junglers to exist: clearing their camps quickly so they can be scrapping on the map. In other words, this RG should unlock more map presence for mage junglers, not so much just being a raw damage power spike.

Why do Runeglaive junglers have to focus on clearing while other junglers get clear PvP advantages?

True, so would you be saying that Riot is reacting to more of the in-lane use of Runeglaive rather than the item itself? But to counter-argue what you said, Rune-glaive is pretty much a mini-Lich Bane that does comparable damage while being much more affordable.

I will miss AP midlane Runeglaive Malphite, AP midlane Runeglaive Alistar after this...

Giving people options to use items is what made the game more fun. And AP Runeglaive Ezreal isn't an unstoppable force of nature. Still wondering how this enchant benefits Fiddlesticks...Extra mana? Meh...They've taken an enchant that can work in both PvP and PvE, and made it a PvE enchant. Devourer, Cinderhulk, Warrior all can be brought anywhere on the map. Runeglaive? Maybe if you wanna give it to a Poacher's Knife Nunu...

They need to hit it harder

And also ban literally anyone that has ever bought it

I think they are just temporarily gutting it to get Ezreal out of the mid lane while they completely rework it again. After this nerf it is literally shit tier.

I actually agree with what you said. The fact that they targetted the aoe effect of the item shows that they wanted to get it out of the mid-lane. While it's my own personal opinion that Ezreal unfairly benefitted from Runeglaive more than any other champion, I feel like this was the wrong way to do it. The new jungle items and changed really threw the game in champions in places where they probably shouldn't be. I'm actually also surprised that they didn't do anything with Devourer's. Devourer's on champions like Shyvana and Xin Zhao actually make it very hard to play against them, as well as with them.

This is what happens when Ezreal and to a lesser extent Diana Malphite abuse a jungle item, you know like how most top laners abused the hell out of cinderhulk and it's now nerfed to the ground. It was to be expected and midlaners who abused it get no sympathy from me

I think there will be a few more AP Ezreal players after this than there were before. Some people will say "that was fun while it lasted" and walk away, but others will fall in love with the ranged damage and mobility and find their own way to make it work.

As far as if AP Ezreal will take Runeglaive or Lich Bane going forward, I can honestly see that coming down to the individual player. As far as damage related stats, it's 20% more AP vs 10% CDR and 25% more base AD. Players who think their early game us the weakest, or who like having Smite to secure objectives, will likely continue to use Runeglaive.

As someone who played AP Ezreal for a year before this whole Runeglaive popularity thing, I'm not sure what I'll do. Ezreal didn't get nerfed, so I could go back to my old build, but I like the CDR and Smite that go with Runeglaive.

I dont play jungle so I dont really know how it'll affect those who do, but what i do know is that it was a nuisance in mid lane and was starting to be abused by practically anyone that could possibly take advantage of it. Frankly, super irritating to see Ezreal every damn match with that stupid ass item and throwing q's every which way while he barely gave a shit where the thing landed. Glad this happened.

I jungle mages only and this change completely destroyed any viability for me besides fiddle who didn't need anything anyways. the RG gave what riot wanted so bad. diversity. sure it spilled into the other lanes but what do you expect when you copy such a good effect. your item pool sucks riot...I personally hate the changes. the item wasn't broken, if you were a middle lane mage and you did a lot of dmg good for you that's what youre supposed to do. why not let the teams decide how to deal with "high damage dealers" instead of nerfing the only item that made elise any good in the jungle and out of it as well. the reason ezreal was so broken with it was because of his ability set...its not the item that's broke its how his abilities work. maybe instead of nerfing the item you should rework the champion, because if they NEED RG then obviously you need to rework them. you totally gimped jungle mages and I am freaking pissed.
