i think triforce is better on Darius than cleaver

and i don't really buy into the Cleaver hype that much. it really doesn't strike me as a 'powerful' first buy item on him. i can't really figure out why but every time i buy it i feel like i've made a mistake

whereas Triforce as a first buy gives you a lot of things you like. the phage passive and health/AD are all incredibly useful for obvious reasons, Sheen gives you more mana as well as the very powerful proc which makes your W chunk very hard, and the Zeal attack speed helps you stack more quickly and the movespeed helps you stick. It's more expensive which delays your power-spike a lot, but every time I buy it I feel ready to start wrecking shop.

I don't see enough people building Ghostblade in general (I'm a big fan of it) but this item is nuts on him. The stats are good, 20 armor pen offers incredibly synergy with your passive % ignore, the CDR makes up partly for what you lose by not buying Cleaver ( item 3065 / item 3110 are good picks for this, too ) and the active gives you more sticking power and more stacking power. When I finish these two items, I definitely start ramping up in power. Not to mention the decent chunk of crit % combined with Sheen procs makes your W hurt like a mother, I've legitimately 100-50'd a few squishies with it.

I haven't really been criticized for it because I've generally done very well with it, but it honestly irks me that every Darius I go up against, mirror or not, is usually rushing Cleaver; and honestly, most of them do really badly. Whenever I've rushed it, I feel like it's.. not a power spike item. When I buy it, I feel like I need a second item to grab before I can really make use of it. Whereas the mid-game strength that I get just from Trinity lets me group and carry a lot sooner.

Thoughts? I'd like to hear what other Darius players are succeeding with.

Cleaver is better. The fact that your bleed stacks its armor shred and grands you the Rage movement speed is too good to pass up.

why? when you get all 5 stacks you're gonna be smashing people for true damage; i find it much better to aim to get those stacks off as quickly as possible and then build to chase down fleeing targets while you still have your passive activated

the bleed should still grant you the rage passive if that's what you're saying it does, Trinity force does include Phage in its build

Trinity only gives Rage on basic attacks

i just checked; that does seem pretty handy

still, i haven't had success with the 2-3 games that i built it over trinity, so i'll probably stick to what works

The 20% CDR gives him a ton of defensive statistics as well due to being able to Q more often. The consistent movespeed is really strong, and the armor shred combined with his built in shred is really useful, not only for yourself but also for your team since almost everyone auto attacks.

If you are only worried about the flat damage increase just build a Hydra first, it gives you more flat damage than triforce and it will give you sustain and an AOE proc that is useful for trading. After that just get the cleaver since it is easily the best item for him. I would probably just rush Cleaver in most cases though.

the passives are too good to give up the movespeed boost practically makes up for losing the 5% from your passive also you NEED the armor shred to make your bleed have any damage anymore

item 3142 and your E passive has been enough to make my bleeds hurt, actually

if you hadn't already, i'd definitely recommend trying it

I see your point regarding attack speed and sheen proc, but I think Youmuu's Ghostblade is enough attack speed. Trinity force is probably a waste of an item slot, since he needs to build tanky.

you can get pretty tanky with it

dead man's, sterak's, visage is a good start, you can sub them with frozen heart or randuin's or banshee as needed

20% CDR and the much cheaper costs are all the reasons I need for getting it over Tri
