Glad Ryze got buffs he totally needed

because the first thing a ranged, toplane, AOE hypercarry with a fucking urf mode passive needs is early game buffs

tell me why he needed buffs after you lane against a competent ryze

Totally agree. Just because someone repeatedly says a champ is OP doesn't change the fact he's got a lower than average win rate and is barely ever picked or banned.

Except that is totally incorrect, he is seeing plenty of pro play lol

Considering he was sitting at ~40% even in Platinum+, he definitely did need them. That isn't even debatable . His pick rate wasn't high (suggesting it's mostly people that main him or pick him in good matchups/comps.) and yet his results were the worst in the game for every position he played. This was still the case a month after his rework.

Now, he still has a tiny pick-rate and seems to have the most success top. However, his winrate is merely solid and not overbearing. For a 1.7% pick-rate in Platinum+, 52% for his best position is nothing to write home about. Are we going to say Heimerdinger is OP too because he does well for the small group of dedicated fans he has? Heimerdinger's sitting at 56% for mid in Platinum+.

Ryze has moments of ridiculous power (supercharged + ult.) but they are just that, moments. You can see how many stacks he has so you know when to stay away. Moreover, you burn through nearly your entire mana bar in seconds. In fact, I think the mana costs coupled with his range really keep him in check. He's a bit like a single target focused DPS version of Annie.

You shouldn't expect to duel a Ryze if he's near supercharged and you don't really have to in order to win lane. I'm not a Ryze main but there are so many games where I got very fed in lane and couldn't convert to the win because the Maoki, Irelia, Hecarim etc. had the CC and disruption to turn around teamfights.

Ryze brings a lot of damage but low utility/engage potential for a top laner. He is tankier than the average AP but still quite squishy. There are many comps. where he isn't a good pick even if he can do well in lane. I learned this lesson the hard way trying Tristana mid. I was constantly winning lane but in teamfights, some massive Zyra ult. etc would be far more relevant than my single target damage output.

I lost it at "he burns through his mana in seconds" and "single target"

Then you haven't played him. It definitely is the case for both points. His spells will deal splash damage for half the value when ulting. but that doesn't suddenly make him an AoE mage. His bread and butter is still single target damage. The AoE is mediocre compared to champions that specialize in it like Vel'Koz or Zyra. He's more akin to Cassiopeia than any of those.

It definitely doesn't match my experience. Anyway, you don't even have a positive winrate after 21 games so I'm not sure what you're crying about exactly.

half of them were old inferior ryze

You just decided to focus on two words I said and ignored everything else. It seems like you want to impose your opinion rather than debate with an open mind. Even in Diamond,+ his winrate doesn't exceed 52%. There are many strong points to Ryze but also many weaknesses (especially for the team comp.). Once he's pick/ban in LCS, you may have some credibility. Right now, there is no indication that he is overbearing outside of what you feel.

The one I struggle a lot versus (even as Ryze) but isn't banned much is actually Vladimir. A full build Vladimir 1vs1d my full build Ryze with passive and ult. up. The problem is that AP naturally makes Vlad tankier, his pool can dodge some stuff/stall during my ult. while doing damage, his sustain gets crazy high and his ult. greatly amplifies the damage on top of it. He has way more AoE and utility than Ryze in teamfights too. A Vlad ult. on multiple people is a huge buff to the other carries. The slow while being untargettable, dealing damage and capable of moving is very frustrating. Unlike Ryze, he can actually dive the enemy team and zone carries without dying quickly.

Laning vs him isn't particularly hard but I can't kill him since he just pools away. I end-up blowing half my mana bar attempting to bully him out and he just passively sustains back up.

Am I wrong or does Vlad just outscale Ryze? I figured Ryze late game was really strong for dueling purposes but he gives me even more trouble than a full build Nasus, Hecarim or Tryndamere. I'm not really sure how to beat Vlad assuming my team isn't camping him or some other extreme adjustment.

BTW: I also can't deal with Anivia top as Ryze if anyone has tips beyond dodging Q.

The guy is posting that he's frustrated his main is going to be ban material again which will end up being nerfed later... then everyone rushes in to trash talk him.

I give it a handful of LCS wins before everyone starts demanding Ryze gets nerfed. One crushing win down, let's see how many to go.
