Supports almost have to be easier to play, in the sense of champions like
or
. They don't have too much damage, except Sona when she builds a damn
. In this sense, they need to be easy to play so they don't have to make too many other choices.
As for
, I have to disagree and say that he is a bit more difficult to play. My problem is that while he is tanky and has good CC, I find him to do plenty of damage on his own.
and
are supports that are actually good examples of what you're trying to explain. They are very easy and have incredibly high rewards for it. Annie can get a targeted stun and still supplies her own damage, while Leona has LOTS of CC and a very long range Ultimate, so it makes it easy for her to engage.
Besides anything I have said, I can say for certain that support is a role that is just as difficult as jungling sometimes, and it here's why.
- Do you buy one item or another? You have a very limited gold income.
- When and where do you place wards and trinkets? In solo que, people will practically depend on you to ward the whole map, as they don't tend to want to invest even the slightest gold in a simple ward. I've done it too, but supports are practically vision machines.
- Where's you ADC? Is he/she behind you? In front of you? What condition are they in? (Mana, Health, Ultimate CD) These things pretty much determine what you do with your own stuff, which sucks sometimes because unless they're in the fountain buying, you don't really have the chance to do something. Although this does mean you can tag in with your mid or top laner as well.
Overall, support can be tricky to play. It has a lot choices that are meant to be made, taking sacrifices and risks to help your team in any way that they can.
