The "Rotating Main" syndrome: am I the only one who has it?

Photos of Ghosts··6 votes·602 views

I just can't keep playing the champs I love because I BECOME BAD. I can't play Quinn and Swain anymore, and both are supposed to be on the strong side. What the heck. I already had to leave Kog'maw in early s5, Cho'gath before him, MF and Malzahar more recently, and now even my supports - I had to give up Janna.

Having a main isn't about who you are good with. Having a main is about what champions you find fun, whether they are OP, UP, and regardless of your own personal skill.

You can play any champion you own, but a main is something special.

You don't have fun when you consistently go 3/16/7. You're just CC'd during the whole game. That's why I lose my mains. I can't appreciate their gameplay anymore because it's not gameplay anymore.

If you lose a main perhaps they were never a main to begin with.

I spammed Quinn and Swain without interruption for months because I loved vaulting on people's face and healing up while dotting. And then I couldn't play them anymore from one day to the next.

I've played my main through buffs, nerfs, winning streaks, and slumps. I honestly cannot imagine something that would make him not fun to play, and this comes with around five full years of experience playing him.

Maybe the problem is what you find fun, rather than who you find fun.

I find fun doing anything except seeing no chance in impacting the game after 5 minutes. I had fun losing for months, but then I started losing while being massively underfed and nothing more than a minion, my opponent's very own training bot. I had to try another champ. It went better, despite having gotten a higher MMR on my main and now trying new champions there. But then the cycle started again.

You probably aren't adjusting to the changes in the game. Try changing your Masteries, Runes, builds or playstyle and see if that'll get any results. If you want to take it a step further, you can even adjust to your teammates and enemies and take notes on how to play in which case. But you'll have to update those notes as well then.

I did adjust: with preseason, I stopped taking Quinn top (last ear I did the one-item-wonder build with Botrk + full tank and CDR) and started going bot as an assassin. Then it recently stopped working, completely.

Meanwhile, I've played 3k Ahri games and I'm still spamming her.

Why is this downvoted, I'm pretty amazed.

While I do play games on different champs cause I get bored, all my fav champs still are good: Ekko, Fizz, Azir, Sol, Teemo, Shen, Soraka.
