Something is really wrong with they way being assigned a role in dynamic queue works.

I keep hearing about all these people who say that putting support as secondary is basically a guarantee that you will be support. Meanwhile I put support as my primary and mid as my secondary and sometimes I'll instantly find a match only to find that the system decided to put me mid.

It's pretty clear to me that primary/secondary doesn't actually mean anything at all. The only reason they are even given those labels is to trick people into thinking that there is any system in place that takes your most preferred role into account.

I've gotten my primary roll probably around 9/10. People who don't just like to complain, even though there is no system that will do that and get people in games within a reasonable amount of time

There is a lot of variables in play allowing you to get your primary role most of the time, so you can't say people "just like to complain". I put my roles as primary ADC and secondary MID, at my low elo I tend to get ADC around 80%-ish of the time, due to mid lane being more popular I assume. However regardless of where I put support, I get thrown into support 95% of the time. Even when i've queued with friends that have support as their primary and it's either my secondary or even FILL is my secondary, it STILL gives support to me instead sometimes lol. Like the time I queue'd with 3 friends and me and one other did bot-support and support-bot as our roles, i've still gotten support over him a few times even though we're 100% guaranteed to go bot lane together and it's my secondary lol. Luckily we just trade roles, so it works out in that situation.

So it really comes down to what times people play, what elo they are at can factor in as well due to role popularity, and then the luck factor I guess. I just think there's too many factors involved for anyone to say these people are just complaining. They all have a right to complain because something does need to be done, this many people wouldn't be upset if it wasn't a constant occurrence. It doesn't even technically effect me in most situations since I tend to get my main role more often when support or fill isn't one of my choices, but I can still see that there is an issue that needs work.

When I say people just like to complain, I mean that the people that don't get their primary roll (and the rate is most likely exaggerated) come onto the boards to complain about it, whereas the people who do get it have no reason to do anything, so you never see them.

That's true, there may definitely be some exaggerations. Just due to the fact that i've experienced it quite a lot myself, when it comes to support at least, I have an easy time believing the people who complain about it. It really is quite crazy how it works, not even the fact that it's easy to get because many aren't playing it, but due to the reasons i mentioned above.

Getting it when i'm playing with friends and it's their primary but I get it as my fill, getting it when i'm guaranteed bot with a friend and it's their primary but my secondary, etc etc. Those don't happen all the time though, but there is still every once in a while where all of us are like "wait, what?".

I've gotta admit that this much is true. I can't tell how much of my extended queue times are either due to the system trying to find games for either of my roles or due to the system working as most of us "think" it does. I've around 70% preferred roles and 30% secondary roles but theres no indicator as whether this may be due to my preferred role being less populated at my elo (marksman) or perhaps I'm getting lucky. I do believe the ideal solution players are seeking are longer queue times (this is the ultimate consequence) as a tradeoff for having the system check longer for your preferred role.

One time I put my primary as jungle and my buddy put in secondary jungle, guess who got the role.
