But i do know that i just got a loss because my adc afk’d at 10 minutes and you bet thats gonna somehow negatively impact my rank.

TheUrbanKitsune1 votesFrom what I've seen so far it appears Riot has a set baseline rank for you no matter whether you win or lose your first game. So if after losing you were given "X" rank, your rank was going to start at "X" no matter what. Whether you win or lose determines if you get the bonus 40-50ish LP.
So probably don't worry too much about the L and hope for the best in the rest of your placements.
