What do we think of Chat Restriction system?

I'd just like to gather some varying thoughts on the chat restriction system. I'm probably not going to play anymore because it seems like I'm stuck in a never ending cycle of restrictions, which alone aren't a huge deal, but putting up with toxic players while not being able to respond, even with a completely polite answer or defense is just not fun. Not that it matters and I don't expect anything but "ok bye noob" "we won't miss you", but regardless I just want some closure on this subject.

My first chat restriction was well deserved. I was under the impression that I could basically say whatever I wanted as long as it wasn't something like a slur (which I don't say regardless of what I'm playing). I had played for over a month before receiving the warning. I got the 1st restriction, played through the restricted chat games, and cleaned up my act.

After this I was extremely cautious with what I said. The worst I ever did was respond to someone with a bad attitude blaming us with something along the lines of "maybe we'd have a chance if you didn't let your laner roam". I thought this was a fair response to give to someone who had very negatively impacted a game, without coming off as too mean. I don't blame someone no matter how bad they are if they at least seem like they care and aren't toxic players.

Regardless, I got chat restricted very shortly after my first restriction passed. When this happened I was even more conservative with what I said. I said almost absolutely nothing, and had many toxic games where I was blamed and verbally abused without saying anything negative in return. Anyone who plays this game and is not a terrible person themself should know that we have a disgustingly cruel community. It was anti-fun to have to put up with that without giving them what they deserved in return, simply because I didn't want to lose chat.

Again, I got chat restricted. With my current chat restriction at 38, I just plain don't plan on playing anymore. If I did ever play, I'd mute everyone at the start of the game and never say a word. I feel like I've made my mistakes, and I've shaped up, but I'm being punished over and over and over again for either something extremely mild or nothing at all. I put up with abuse every few games as I'm in Silver 5. I don't understand why someone who is generally positive is in an endless loop of restrictions, while the majority of my games I face very negative people who have absolutely no filter. If this system worked, there would not be so many people talking like that.

tl;dr I deserved first chat restriction, started being much more cautious about what I said, didn't matter still got enormous restrictions.

The people that get them hate it, the people that don't love it.

I honestly don't understand how it works though. I completely accepted responsibility for my first offense, and assumed it was a necessary system. Thought it was probably for the best and might keep toxic players out. But.... I see toxic players in every game. I see toxic players who reached gold last season. I don't understand how they aren't chat restricted or muted or banned.

It should be noted that it's possible to still be toxic while chat restricted. Believe me, I do my best and still get reported all the time.

Some of the toxic players may have used only 5 lines or less but more often than not they pretty much spam the chat with hate and also use the all feature to either blame one of our laners in all chat or harass the enemies.

I'm wondering if I'm saying some word in a polite meaning but it's auto reporting me or something? I just cannot grasp how this keeps happening.

Wow, that's pretty sad. I personally never got a chat restriction, but it sounds terrible as you described your experience. As far as I know, you get informed if someone reported you, correct? If you didn't get any notifications that someone reported you, and yet your punishment keeps increasing, this makes no sense and I think you should be entitled to an inquiry as to how this system works.

So... This is kind of the point I'm making. People can say whatever they want and they seem to get away with it because they have been playing so long and somehow don't have 500+ chat restricted games. On the other hand I get chain restricted for no reason.

My recommendation to you would be that you get in a full pre-made, with people who aren't going to report you, get on a voice chat system, and try running through games to see if you'll continue getting chat restrictions. If you don't have enough people for a full pre-made, and you still want to try this out, I'd be willing to bring you along for some full pre-made games.

The chat restriction system is designed to track IMPROVEMENTS in chat.

If you have a chat restriction for 63 games, and you say nothing, and absolutely nothing for 63 games, you WILL get another chat restriction.
The only way to lift your chat restrictions is to say positive things continuously in chat.

Using short phrases are fine; just make sure to use all your chats to say things like "gj top" and "nice dragon take" or even things like "excellent csing, draven", and your chat restriction will be lifted, guaranteed, as long as you kiss up 100% and say nothing else.

Note that chat restrictions are being "reviewed". Whether that means a real Rioter skims through chats, I'm actually not completely sure. But if a Rioter does read them, I'm not surprised. The chat restriction system is a particularly unforgiving cycle. You will have to prove to Riot that you are capable of spewing nice things out of both ends of your body.

I've heard this before, and this is what bothers me more than anything. I'm very positive. I'm usually support, and I commend everyone for everything pretty much. I feel like I'm damned if I say anything at all, and damned if I don't.

I mean with most games being 30+ minutes, I'm looking at a 20-30 hour restriction placed on me with 0 evidence, and I know this will only continue to happen regardless of what I say. I just can't deal with it.
