Riot balance Ekko please

Yes, this is a tad salty, but anyone would be after this.

Just finished a game where my team dominated the first 22 minutes. We had about a 3k gold lead, 2 turrets to 1 lead, 1 and 0 dragon lead. Our mid and bot had totally shut down their lanes. Top had gone pretty even. Here is the stats at that point (estimation on assists):

Rumble 2/0/3 Ekko 0/1/0 Lee 1/3/6 Vi 1/2/1 Diana 9/1/2 Zed 3/6/1 Ashe 6/2/1 Ashe 3/6/2 Blitz 0/1/6 Leona 0/3/2

At this point the Ekko went on a 13/4 streak during the next 10 minutes and then went 12/1 the rest of the game. This despite the fact he lost lane and had zero kills. I wonder if it had something to do with him completing his second item Luden's Echo at that point. We had a fed Diana and a fed Ashe and we could barely kill him. So much for him being squishy.

It's ridiculous to have an assassin that will dominate mid/late game even if you beat them early. What happened to high risk/high reward?

It was probably the fact the Ekko's CC becomes highly relevant in team fights with the Q and W AOE's ontop of the fast-past nature of a fight that makes it harder to dodge Ekko's CC.

Ekko becomes ridiculous in team fights and ganks, not necessarily in a 1v1 lane (until late) unless you know how to duel well with him.

People thinking Ekko isn't broken need to remember that people said the same thing about Lee Sin and Elise who after being nerfed clearly in retrospect needed a big nerf because of hidden/subtle power they had in their heavily overloaded kit, just like ekko (oh, and Yasuo who probably got hit the hardest for having an overloaded kit).

Great post. I think that is why a lot of people think he isn't OP. They only look at the 1v1 lane. In a teamfight, good luck keeping track of where his W and R are going to be. Not to mention the amount of slows his passive and Q give. This game showed that perfectly, he didn't do anything in lane and then just went ham once we started to skirmish.

That's exactly right. That hidden power not only comes into effect when you get that massive AOE stun in a team fight, and that hard to keep track of ulti in a team fight, but the hidden power of his scaling on his subtle passive damage that he gets on his W and passive with the sustained AND burst damage on a highly mobile assassin which obviously already sounds wrong.

An assassin should not have high or hard CC almost ever, and the Leblanc and Talon nerfs told us that (which were completely warranted imo in terms of the silence removal). Also an assassin shouldn't ALSO have sustained damage, if they are meant to do burst damage. A champion should not fulfill so many roles like that. His overloaded kit becomes highlighted and clear in teamfights like I said earlier.

Let me get this straight, you were this far ahead, of your opponents, said opponents that had no wave clear mind you, and instead of smartly closing the game as soon as possible, you were like "Oh, let's fuck around, we got this." and it is Ekko's fault for taking advantage of it?

Lugg2 votes

That is the point I am making. We didn't screw around. He straight up just started farming champions and there literally wasn't anything we could do. We focused, we CCd, we did everything we could but it didn't matter.

I really REALLY don't believe that.

You know a champion is completely and utterly broken when a Diana who is up 9 kills can't 1v1 them.

Jamaree1 votes

Or maybe you fucked up, and you aren't giving us the full story?

Lugg2 votes

I can see if our team was bad, but you don't get that far ahead that early if you are bad. Honestly, watch some of the videos of Ekko that are out now. You have to have a plants IQ not to see he is broken.

Jamaree1 votes

What I want to see is the video of your game, because there is no excuse of you being ahead by THAT much and not ending the game immediately, broken or not, you guys were the problem. And yeah, I have seen videos of him doing crazy shit, and I have also seen videos of him sucking ass because all of his stuff is hella telegraphed, ohhh, an AoE stun, that is incredibly easy to predict and dodge for anyone with a brain, he can reset, yeah, and, pop him before hand, it isn't like he is all that tanky.

You say it take the IQ of a plant to see that he is broken, I say it takes the IQ of a rock to know how to push your advantage.

I wish I did have a video of it. It would have put all the "Ekkos not OP" crap to rest.

BTW, he is pretty damn tanky. When you don't die while being focused by a fed Diana, a fed Ashe, and CC'd by a Blitz, you are tanky.

Jamaree1 votes

OR, you guys are bad, and you don't know how to actually play this game, if you couldn't kill a single person with three fed characters.

Lugg2 votes

It's not like he 1v5'd our team, he still had 4 other guys helping him. It's just that it illustrates what is wrong with him. If you put him in certain team comps, he is literally unbeatable. Honestly, if you don't think he is OP, you don't understand this game at all.

DrNova1 votes

lol he isnt tanky. You just threw a game, and all the EKKO QQ was a safe excuse to pin the blame on. Get better.

so its like katarina, only with cc, shield, slow and higher mobility... oh, at least he has no restets :D

Lugg2 votes

Shhhh, don't give Riot ideas. LOL

i honestly havent had any issues fighting him, sure he may need a slight ratio nerf just because he does have a bit more damage than needed but its really not that bad, ive played some random weird off meta crap against them before and had no issues only thing that was really hard for my fighting one was when i tried to play ap nunu mid and spammed laugh for a good amount of the game causing their jungle vi to camp me(at least that my theory as to why she camped me)

Lugg1 votes

1v1 he isn't so bad but you can't kill him after he reaches 6. Once you get into skirmishes and teamfights, he pub stomps.

insaiyanbacca1 votes

yeah thats what people say but when your playing a fed a champ because you beat him 1v1 who can likely teamfight just as well or better you should win teamfights, and its not hard to dodge his cc in a teamfight unless its used as follow up

Lugg1 votes

I have seen DOZENS of champs who beat him lane and were fed as hell get completely demolished by Ekko late game. When you put him in a fight with any of his teammates, his power level goes up tenfold.
