Can someone from please explain what part of getting +100 armor +100% total armor along with +100 magic resist +100% total magic resist lingering for 3 seconds seemed balanced? She gets more armor than Malphite displacing heavy armor tanks, and more magic resist than Galio displacing heavy magic resist tanks.
Mainly because it only lasts for 3 seconds after hit so it doesn't last long in straight combat, forcing her to leave combat if she wants those stats again.
I'm not saying it's actually balanced (frankly I don't like Sejuani. I don't think her previous incarnation was a picture perfect example of balance either) but that's the logic behind the ability in terms of balancing it.
Because tanks don't function in the games current state without hilariously overtuned steroids. Riot decided it would be better to give them those steroids in very brief windows instead of actually balancing the relationship between damage and defence scaling. Hence things like Sej passive, new Malphite passive, Galio getting heavy DR on his W, and Gargoyle Stoneplate, the bane of my existence.
Sej excels in shorter fights, since her passive gives her time to proc her E, giving her pretty good burst. Alternatively, she is a good initiator with a long ranged stun and the innate durability to survive her own initiations.
This is made up for by being weak in longer fights, due to a lack of sustained damage and longer CD's than most tanks.
A Sejuani has the potential to be much stronger than, say, an Olaf at the very beginning of a fight, but she gets comparatively less effective the longer a fight goes on.
Also, her passive is easily disabled. Take potshots at her, disable her shield, and then engage in that window.
She needs to be nerfed tbh. Way out of line.
Well all that armor isn't just for decoration. Also I imagine her boar tanks the magic for a bit

It's basically her security to provide a strong engage that tanks usually need. IE - Malphite Ult cant be stopped, Mao ult, Sion Ult etc. Sej's ult engage is mostly single target lockdown unlike the other big engage tanks who have the AOE so she gets a bit of help w the passive
