Surrendering shouldn't be a thing.

And if it is to be a thing, it needs to have ALL 10 PEOPLE VOTE, requiring a majority from both teams. 7/8 out of 10.

"But trolls-" Report the trolls, hope they get banned, move on with your life. If you surrender, you are the troll. You're among the worst kind of trolls.

Every time a team surrenders, be it mine or the enemies, I am seriously tempted to report them all for Leaver/AFK and Unsportsmanlike Conduct, not that I'd actually expect them to get the punishment they deserve. (Being the same punishment standard leavers/afks get.)

Truly, for all the people, trolling, hate, rage, salt, etc. I've seen playing this game, surrendering is by far the worst and most irritating thing I've had to put up with. Stop it.

/rant

Smite has a "Never Surrender" icon. LoL should have one too if it's going to keep the horrid practice.

If nothing else, does anybody know a game like LoL that doesn't have surrendering? As close to that being the only difference as possible. I've tried some other Isometric Moba's (Dota 2, Hots, Strife, others I don't remember the names of), but so far none were as fun as LoL, for whatever reason(s).

Do I want to sit with a tilted team and wait 20 more minutes while they bitch at each other about who's fault it is we're losing and how everyone should just uninstall cause they're awful at the game? Nah, got better things to do than to waste time playing with people who I don't want to play with and who are complete assholes especially when they have shown their skill level is far inferior to the enemy team.

If winning was literally everything in the world and my personal enjoyment had no value whatsoever to me, you might have a point. But that is not the case.

Mute button. Then you can play without dealing with the bitching.

Why would I want to? On the hopes that suddenly they decide to play as a team and get much better at mechanics and positioning? Players that are tilting and negative will continue to play poorly and spend time typing in chat instead of playing the game. Whether I mute them or not.

It's poor sportsmanship to continue playing a game that is obviously uneven. People who are obviously crushing the enemy team should want the game to be over as it's no longer competitive. Drawing it out so you can have fun at the expense of others is poor sportsmanship and violates the integrity of the game. There's a time and place for surrendering and knowing when to accept defeat graciously and move on to the next game.

Trolls don't get banned unless they are "toxic" in chat. If you suck, I don't want to play with you. I certainly don't want to carry you to victory. Quit being so sensitive.

Teh Song1 votes

I hate surrenders in both directions for any reason. This post has nothing to do with my nor anyone else's skill level.

We're losing and you surrender? I hate you. We're winning and they surrender? I hate them. I'm having a good game and playing like god? Still hate you/them. I'm having a bad gaming and playing like literal failure? Still hate you/them.

If you hate the surrender option then stop playing league and go back to smite

Smite has surrendering too. Also it's third person instead of Isometric, so I regard it separately.

Yeah the games no fun when it's 3v5, and the other team may want S ratings for whatever reason, giving you a vote of 5v3 against. So I'm sry you feel that way but sometimes I don't mind it. But with all 5 still in game I am against it, unless there is a lot of toxicity, then I'm inclined. Really it's to situational to have a blanket rule like that, leaving it to democracy is the best course of action.

Teh Song1 votes

Maybe, maybe not, but it's not left to democracy right now, as half the people can't even vote.

D3M4L1S1 votes

There you are wrong, the other team doesn't get to vote because they are not affected by the circumstances which led to the vote, 3v5. They do however get compensated for the decision by being awarded a win. Sorry if you don't see this.

Teh Song1 votes

It's not a win if the enemy surrenders, it's a buzzkill with an attempt at compensation, and with the low af IP gains it's not a good attempt.

They are absolutely affected by the circumstances. Being 5v3 is no more fun than being 3v5, and really that doesn't even matter. By being in the match they are affected by the circumstances, regardless of what those are. They have just as much right to vote on the match ending early or not.

D3M4L1S1 votes

That's funny my match history says differently.

"Trolls are funny creatures, they never give up."

Teh Song1 votes

That green "Victory" with +(minuscule number) IP next to it would be that failed compensation attempt I spoke of.

Actually looking at my own Match History the IP numbers feel higher than they did in the past. Still kinda small, but maybe they did increase it in some patch I didn't read the notes for a while ago.

mid goes afk after the remake mark, jg doesn't wanna cover mid, top walks right in the middle of nunu's ult, randomly sits in bushes and types while team fights are going on next to him, and backs with 2% hp in front of enemy just beggin em for a death, support sona misses all her ults, towers are going down, and the 20m mark cannot get there any faster. I never surrender, except in cases like this with 1 afk, 1 feeder and 1 troll support. This is what the surrender option is for.

Teh Song1 votes

That is what reporting is for. Report the afk for leaving, report the feeder for it's intentional aspect, report the troll for trolling, hope they've been reported enough to be caught, complete the match in it's entirety, ignore the salty post-game chat, move on to the next match.

There's reasons there's a max time on the remake feature, and most of them match why their shouldn't be surrendering.

AdeBug1 votes

I'm not gonna put up with that shit 1 extra unnecessary second if I'm in that situation. Yes I report, but til then? Endure? Why would I give the satisfaction to trolls? End and report asap.

Your last paragraph needs rephrasing.

DarkRitual1 votes

I would never let my enemies surrender. I need those S's to unlock more mastery 6/7 tokens.

Teh Song1 votes

Your reason is your own, you still have the right to vote no.

DarkRitual1 votes

"YOU CAN'T QUIT, YOU'RE FIRED" It's a terrible idea, honestly.

TheSingularity1 votes

If the game is blatantly unwinnable. That is, your team doesn't have superior scaling, the enemy is fed, have taken several towers where you've taken zero, and control the map and the neutral objectives. But there's also no logic behind stalling it out. The only way of winning being if the enemy team runs it down mid or surrenders their victory.

Why the hell should the majority who surrendered (4) or wish to (3), otherwise suffer through a boring, relentless, uninteresting and pointless snooze fest for 50 minutes that'd result in an inevitable loss. In the end, the majority won't be thinking "ah well, it was well fought but we'll get em next time". They'll be thinking "OMFG thank fuck that it's finally over, what a waste of time".

Even a winning team may not feel great after the game. What is fulfilling about slaughtering your opposition and dragging it out knowing they have no chance. You didn't win an evenly matched, back and forth action packed game where both teams deserved to win. You relentlessly trampled players way below your skill level, who had a game stalled out by a delusional bot lane who "never surrender"

The moment players vote yes, they are saying that they don't give a dam about the game, win or lose. They've already given up and are likely not in the mindset to even try coming back. What hope is there, when 3 players have already given up? They're likely not even thinking about the game, they're probably day dreaming, watching a movie or playing another game altogether to escape the depressing situation.

Why should they be forced to stall it out..... when they could ff, and start a new game which could possibly be far more competitive and enjoyable than the snooze fest. Where both teams feel good whether they win or lose.

Teh Song1 votes

Non-Ranked: The game isn't about winning, and if you can't have just as much fun losing as winning, then you don't actually like LoL, you just like winning. If that's you, you shouldn't be playing LoL, and probably should stick to single player games. At least stay in bots.

Ranked: I could understand some kind of mercy-rule if properly implemented, but simply surrendering is extremely against what Ranked is supposed to be, so if you'd do it their you shouldn't be in Ranked.

My hatred of surrendering is not in support of stomps. The existence of stomps is a matchmaking and player-created (smurfs, etc.) issue, which are separate discussions, and do not justify the surrender feature.

TheSingularity1 votes

I'm perfectly fine with losing. As long as I'm able to decently oppose the enemy team. In fact I'd rather lose a 2 hour evenly matched game than win/loose a 50 minute snooze fest.

Smurfs and matchmaking are not the only causes of stomps bae. People like me, don't want to abuse FOTM picks or have that one champ/class we just have to play. Losing a game because they have one severely unbalanced champ (pre nerf graves/kat) who gets ahead and proceeds to be an unstoppable juggernaut is one cause. People just having bad games is another. I'm not innocent of this and I doubt you are either. Why on earth would a team want to oppose the champ who got hyper fed off you/me and carry our sad asses in the process?

It isn't fun playing a game that you know you're going to lose, against a team you can't do shit to. What's fun about stalling out a game where; Your team is bickering and there's no chance of unison and winning team fights. Someone's running it down mid. They scale better, period and already have a lead. You literally can't do anything due to the champs you play, ie utility tanks can't compensate for feeding dmg carries.

There is a time to NEVER SURRENDER! and a time to accept defeat and move on. I think you need to figure out when the second one applies.

Teh Song1 votes

Accepting defeat doesn't mean you deny your opponent their victory. It just means you know your going to lose, so now you can continue to play till the end without the competitive stress. Still play your best and all, but now you're only playing for enjoyment, not victory as well.

TheSingularity1 votes

Whether or not they surrender doesn't change who wins or loses. They surrender because they have already lost. You win because you pushed them to that point.

Victors aren't denied the victory. They still win, the enemies nexus still explodes and the enemy team gets a nice defeated screen. You simply seem salty and pissed off because YOU are denied the victory that YOU want. The victory gained by personally killing the nexus.

As a jungler I'm happy if I'm the one to make them surrender. It means I've made a large enough impact that they feel they can't recover or that it's too much of a chore to do so. It also spares them of a boring grind that only might result in a victory. And allows me to move on to a potentially more closely matched game.

Actually I thought Dota 2 did have surrendering, that's not what I didn't like. A lack of ff is not a "hold-back". If anything it would dramatically push a game forward. The first reason I didn't go for Dota was actually that it gave you all the characters. With that many you should have to unlock them. Other than that it was just minor gameplay and graphical differences.

A carbon-copy of LoL without a surrender function would be one of the best games ever, and I would play that far more than I play LoL.

The issue with the other Isometric MOBA's I tried is that they performed less than LoL does in the various other categories. I don't even know why I like HOTS less than LoL, almost all of the differences are things I wouldn't really disagree with.

I totally see where you're coming from, and I think it's great that you are sharing your opinion. However, having the option to get out of a 2-17 game, with 2 AFK players or trolls or just bad players in general is a HUGE quality of life mechanic. I personally get mad when I'm playing well or it's a good game and the enemy surrenders, but when I'm the one who's behind or getting trolled, the surrender button is a huge relief. I highly, highly doubt surrendering will ever be removed from the game. Looks like this will be one thing you have to suffer. Have a nice day, - Lez

It absolutely should. And it should be triggered with a 3/5 vote rather then 4/5.

Yes it is.

If you aren't in the actual pointedly competitive mode, then it's not about winning, it's about enjoying yourself playing the game. That doesn't require victory. If it does, you don't actually like this game, and shouldn't be playing it.

That statement is true for every single PvP game there is.

FioraWillCarry1 votes

If you played in my last game, you'd definitely realize why surrender is necessary. It should be allowed 15 minutes in, not removed.

FioraWillCarry1 votes

And if they removed surrender, I'd be afking a lot. Maybe OP needs to have a team of retards 4 times in a row to be reminded of why surrender is necessary.
