It's 2017, why do we still not have a way to flag unskilled players in ranked?

This should have been added long ago, and is necessary to fix how fucked up ranked is right now.

i.e. just played with a one-trick Quinn who rushed Ghostblade against Cho'gath while already behind, then started intentionally feeding because they had no kills and didn't want to play the game unless they were fed, but we wouldn't surrender.

This is a textbook example of players who don't belong at their ratings, but one tricking uncommon champions and the state of the game allows them to maintain.

This wording is confusing, by saying "still do not have" you make it sound like we didnt until just recently actually have a report for unskilled. It was of course a placebo report, as any kind of report like that would be, because the ranking system is literally structured to filter out the "unskilled players" out of an elo as is.

If they can maintain their rating, that seems like they're where they belong, and would just be unfair to the lower skill players who can't handle their prowess on their one-trick.

The problem is that skill is significantly less relevant in the current season, because games snowball so hard and end so early.

This player is an example of that. Most top players rarely see Quinn, so she can often cheese them and snowball without playing well, or her feeding doesn't matter because she's playing a lane with low impact over the game.

In this game, I was 10-3-5 as Ziggs, but both Quinn and our ADC were both playing extremely badly (i.e. Draven + Janna went 0-5 to Soraka + Ashe pre-6). I could have carried if only one was feeding, but not both.

Frankly: there is no real viable way to do this. This is why scoping out your team and the competition can be a critical aspect of playing ranked if you are trying to climb.

I also feel like any attempt to institute such a system would undermine the integrity of ranked play. If you want to make a list of baddies, do it yourself - there are hundreds of way to collect and catalog bad players.

If someone is consistently flagged as unskilled, they're very likely unskilled and should be penalized in some way so as to move them to a more appropriate bracket. It's not a hard concept.

This is completely abusable. If a premade or a group of people decide to all report me as unskilled, even though I played well, then the system can be abused.

So again - Not a viable option.

Because there is no possible way to prevent this abuse case, and reducing the impact of reports from people in the same group isn't a remote possibility, right?

Good post, 10/10.

Well sure, you could do that - but it doesn't solve the problem. What if the player really DID underperform? - There is just no way to check if a player was underperforming in a match without manually checking, which just isn't feasible. Your being to general for me - get specific. How many reports would it take? how many would 'demote' or 'flag' a player? **Letting players decide/vote/impact the rank of another is just not a good idea for any sort of a matchmaking system. **

Your suggestion also would fundamentally change the way league is played, because anyone who dies is seen as a 'bad player' .. Everyone would start playing much safer.

unskilled players will fall down the ladder sooner or later, that's "punishment" enough.

Flag unskilled players? That's like everyone under what?...challenger? Seriously though, they made this game so unskilled friendly with these overloaded kits its stupid. These aren't difficult kits like riot likes to make it out...they are simply over-equipped with escapes, mobility, shielding, etc., allowing skilled decision making to be simplified basically to whether you should dive someone under a tower or not.

The problem is with players who are unskilled relevant to everyone else in their games.

I gave the Quinn as an example. She had poor mechanical skill, poor decision making skill, and poor general game knowledge. She built entirely wrong against Cho'gath and made no attempt to fix her build. This player was all around bad, with no redeeming qualities.

Even worse is, you now have to understand your opponent's overloaded champs too. When I saw the eve rework I had no idea what the graphics were telling me was happening. While the piecemeal updates are fine for those of us who have been playing for a while, I have a new player I watch sometimes struggle to understand what's happening and not even know if it's good or bad till it's over.

You relize flag unskilled was just so riot could develope the mmr system. And unless they base lp gains and losses on how you did most easily expressed by the mastery rankings. Than sometimes people are just going to get lucky or unlucky in a team based game.

Naalith1 votes

The problem with this is that all the toxic people think anyone under them is terrible. I'm Plat 5 but my MMR was plat 2 for a while (before I stopped playing ranked) and I literally had a plat 4 dude calling me plat 5 trash in a game where he was 0/11 and I was 3/3, and his winrate was like 40% in ranked. Challenger people say that everyone not challenger is low elo, diamond 1 people say that everyone diamond 3 is under is trash, it goes on and on. There's no point of implementing a system that everyone will just use to spam flag people who did bad, everyone does bad some games no matter how good you are.

I See you went 0/9/2 in Talon in a ranked Game? You should be punished.

GrievousFetus1 votes

Because the punishment for being unskilled is losing games idiot.
