What's the point on having 20min games ?

Here are people's arguments :

  • with 20 min games you climb faster.
  • 40min games are coinflip games.

Here is something i have to say about those people :

  • climbing ranked must be an accomplishment it shouln't be easy and shouldn't be fast. If it is what's the point to play ? Just get better and you'll climb. People are in a hurry to climb to show others who has the longest one... yeah but the longest one of the shortest one (games are short). Is that what you really want ? Climbing easily without merit ?

  • 40 min games can be coinflip. But if you are playing a 40min it is because you and your mates weren't able to finish it better. Or it is because you and your team had enough skills to make a turnover and recover. It gives the best players a lot of merit in victory or shame on defeat more frustating.

Now winning and loosing both have no taste.

They shouldn't have reduce the lenght of the games they just should have changed the surrender balance.

When 3 wants to surrender it should be over and this would have solve many issues in this game.

Honestly, I only enjoy shorter games whenever I just play to climb. Less time in a game = less opportunities to make mistakes and throw games.

If I play for fun, especially on smurfs, I enjoy the longer games.

This game was never tailored around 20 minute games, riot literally has a variety of champs many of which are mid to late game scaling champs that are now utterly useless. If they want 20 minute games they may as well delete 75% of the champions in the game nuf said.

That's true, even though I believe it's not entirely Riot's fault for having games snowballing and ending so fast. A lot of it has to do with the fact that people just figure out them game more and more and as a result, they get to utilize the most effective strats which then means that the plays are more efficient and games are over in less time.

Of course, Riot had their thing to do with that as well. Some runes are extremely snowbally. The ones the require you to kill minions or enemies to stack up are the biggest example. Now, if you're strong, not only are you rewarded with extra gold from kills or the ability, as a jungler for example, to steal resources (gold and xp) from the enemy, but you are also getting free stats. A maximum of 18% attack speed (450 gold) can be gained by that. Same with all the permanent max HP increases in Resolve.

With that said, again, back to my first point, people figuring out the strats is the biggest issue. This season, the go-to strat was feed the ADC, and rotate around the map to take towers and snowball the lead. It was a simple concept than pretty much anyone could apply to their game and it was giving free victories.

Other metas included having supportive or early game ADC (Sivir/ Kalista respectively) and either keep a passive laning as Sivir and let your mid lane scaling mage (Viktor / Azir) scale up or try to relieve pressure your mid laner by having an advantage as Kalista in the bot lane and let them have a free lane. This concept was far harder to execute though, since it had many varying factors. Will we have an actual scaling mage? Will they be given enough time to scale?

As it stands right now though, it's guaranteed than one of the two ADCs will get fed. One of them will 95% get the first tower, and then proceed to snowball the game. The only hard part here is for that ADC to be your allied ADC...

I generally prefer shorter matches because Im a drift player. Pop in, do a thing, go do other thing after. 20 minutes is more my speed than 45.

yea i can't stand shorter games.. it honestly feels MORE coinflippy now.. whoever gets a solid early game crit, or whoever might have a slightly better invade, or who manages to get the perfect counter pick to the first pick botlaner, etc.. (the RNG of which laner/side gets first pick is a big deal when talking about the games being coinflippy) those beginning of game/early game things are honestly the least balanced parts.. with all those random/luck based things in the early game, games have to last longer to truly show actual skill..

Oh, top laner got first pick? well now we know exactly which jungler and top laner to play against them. oh, botlane got first pick? gonna just build our botlane+jungler comp to tear them a knew butthole..

oh, I got first pick as Bot? well i can't counter pick at all, and am just going in blind, better hope they don't get lucky..

oh they invaded when we were going for red? well they got a lucky crit, killed our jungler and now are destroying us at 10 mins. FF at 15..

much more coinflippy IMO

hi

20+20+20=1 hour & 3 breaks not to tilt 1hour= check your self as its almost always something you could of done, even being doing things youre not used to. Reflect on why it was hard for you and easy for opponents and learn. the eye can only take so much. the lower body can only take so much too. my brawler's grip keybinding allows me to play for a day without cramp, thats why long ago id favor the easy stall till opp surrender. Now i dont, I play to win!

as for the team others dont like to watch youre metapod harden so pride aside respect others and there is still honor in losing but not in surrendering.

as for teens parents nag when youre young the second they see you play and not chores or job, they pounce nid style on you having 20min matches as ideal and not standard would help the family unit from stepping on each other

i normally dont like posting on other's but this was an old topic that i guess keeps coming back hope you find your answers, there should be more gl
