With Sylas in the game you may want to look at some of the silly AP ratios...

Several Champions were given disgustingly high AP ratios on their ultimate since 1) they likely won't be building much AP (or any, or the ultimate was designed with old Trinity Force and old blue buff still around). 2) Even if the champion went full AP, they become nearly useless aside their ultimate scaling.

However with Sylas in the game, he can kind of get around both rules and abuse nutty ratios.

Here's a partial list:

Ashe: 600 magic damage +100% ap. / 300 + 50% secondary targets. Hecarim: 350 magic damage +100% ap. Zac: 350 magic damage +90% ap. Malphite: 400 magic damage +100% ap. Amumu: 350 magic damage +80% ap. Rammus: 120 magic damage +20% ap for 8 seconds (doubled damage against structures). Miss Fortune: 75% ad + 20% ap for 16 waves over 3 seconds (320% ap total).

These are absurd numbers for some abilities: to compare Lux Final Spark does 500+75% ap.

And those are just the ones I can think of, excluding stuff that's single target like Nautilus and Tristana.

I would argue that this is precisely the reason why stealing ultimates is not exactly the best idea for a champion that builds AP. You would have been far better off doing this with a physical damage champion instead despite the fact that it doesn't fit with the theme of the champion.

Physical damage scaling puts aren’t safe from this either. Look at Sion.

well i think the magic is from his enchanted chains empowered with the heathens magic.

Getting some AP is for many of those champs a viable option, and going more AP heavy is a fun built that for many of them that is viable in funmodes and normal games. It would be very unfair towards the players that enjoy useing those ratios to nerf them just because of sylas. If it's an issue(and it is), then solve it at the source, which would be sylas.

Also, MFs ap ratio is a joke in the context of her ult and the ad-ratio, 320% sounds a lot, till you compare it to 1200% AD...

Or remove his shield. Or heal. Or one of his 3 dashes (6 if he ults Ahri).

I'm not complaining about Sylas being too powerful specifically, the jury is out on that one and I'm undecided. However there's going to be problems when stealing some of these ultimates.

There's a difference between something being overpowered and overloaded. Sylas is completely overloaded. His kit has everything, which will make him a nightmare both to balance and play against.

Lol, hes at a 40% win rate atm. There is no reason to even consider nerfs atm. Still need to wait a week or 2.

IMO he is super weak, he can be annoying to lane vs as some champs but I personally have never seen a sylas do well, and I've never seen a sylas win, either with or against one.

I've done well, but even in norms it's hard to win. Even if you go 14/2/18 Sylas with 200k damage tanked and over 50k damage, your team still throws the game hard, and late game the fights begin to dismantle you. It's hard to gauge his strength when norms trolls like that, and in ranked he's too risky to pull out.

What?

His shield and heal are all he has going for him in his base kit.

  • His passive does less per hit than Kayle's E.
  • His Q tickles unless you land both parts.
  • His W and E both do pitiful damage.
  • His only hard CC is literally half a second.

His base kit is versatile enough to let him use any ult, but there isn't very much raw power in there at all, even if his ult is amazing in the right matchups.

Yep, I saw this coming too.

You're also not accounting for bruisers and tanks with absurd AD ratios, although there are less of them.

This is just an assumption, but I expect Sylas to have one or more of his "tank stats" nerfed in a few weeks.

He kind of needs to be forced into an AP bruiser build path or he will get heavily abused in this way.

Otherwise, I think the ability's ratios should scale with his ultimate rank.

To use Ashe's R as an example. At level 6 (Rank 1 Ultimate) Sylas's Enchanted Crystal Arrow should deal 200 (normal base damage) + 60% AP (60% of Ashe's AP ratio)

At Rank 2, Sylas's Enchanged Crystal Arrow deals 400 (normal base damage) + 80 AP (80% of Ashe's AP ratio)

And at Rank 3 Sylas gains 100% AP ratios on all abilities.

AD ratios should receive similar scaling based on rank.

that sounds fair due to basically being a kassawin case practically if you hit late game you become godly ratio scaling.

Illabethe2 votes

I've actually stolen Ashe's ult. It's not that bad.

Furthermore, keep in mind that Sylas as a Full AP is a suicide build in ranked, so he's also going to have a little less AP to mitigate damage and enhance his survivability.

P.S. He can successfully use Neeko's ult better than Neeko can.

He can use Morgana's ult better than Morgana can

He can use Malphite's ult better than Malphite can.

doesn't mean he doesn't get shut out by team play though.

Don't change their AP ratios, Sylas shouldve been given weaker ults or smth if its an issue. These sorta things let people do offmeta things for fun in norms with friends and its honestly one of the funner things to do in league. AP Ashe is a personal fav (liandries op).

I agree, but there might be some issues. I for one think Sylas should only use the Ultimate at the same power as the user (their AD and AP at time he stole it, but reduced by a %).

Problem with Sylas is not that he steals high impact AP scaling ults and destroys with them, that is his point.

The problem is that he is broken even without any ult. He was supposed to be useless without a stolen ult which should be his counterplay. This way you just get another overloaded tumor. Especially with that heal, who the fuck designed that heal...

hrooza dota 1 votes

thats the whole point of the champ imo

he is supposed to be (or should be) a counter pick champ for ulti based champs like malph or amumu (not sure about ashe tho..)

Bârd1 votes

Considering how Sylas has kinda shitty ratios on the rest of his abilities, it's probably fine for the ults he gets from other champions to be strong.
