Alright, i'll ask some questions since i'm bored and tried him out with widely varying results.

  1. What are the positions he can take in the team?
  2. What are his core items?
  3. How to manage getting harassed a lot?
  4. Runes, masteries?
  5. How to deal damage?

I tried him jungle and bot. Jungle clears are pretty easy for him but ganks are god awful because of no CC and MS. For bot, i usually get harassed a lot and if my support doesn't know how to adjust to this type of a situation, we usually lose the lane completely. Still, i know i should have lost a couple of games but his late game power can be devastating and his ult helps a lot turn the battle in your favor if enemy recklessly dies - we won them anyway but i still wasn't happy how i performed.

I tried him with a Guinsoo, it adds a lot of power to his Q but i still feel like his E deals garbage damage and you are still squishy. Basically, this item can be good for champions who have to fight you but for anything else, it's not worth it. Can't manage his itemization properly as you seem to be shoehorned in buying Rylai for some CC but then should you focus on more HP or resistances? Or should you stick to items that offer HP/AP?

I think I can answer some of your questions.

  1. Lots of place. I prefer him top and bot (as ADC). Since he is item reliant, he tends to struggle against early champ/champ with lots of CC. He performs well against Assassins/Squishy in general, but struggle against tanks, like Sion, Poppy or Shen.

He can be successful bot, but you need to give your support advice about how he should support Morde. Morde with always be more succesful with a Tank support with initiation. Leona, Nautilus, Thresh, Blitz, Shen, etc... Becaise you need to play aggressive with Morde.

  1. Rylai is the must have on Morde. Boots are dependant on the opposing team. Hextech Gunblade is the item that gives him the most damage in the game. Since you need Tankyness, you must reserve two items slots, one for Armor, one for MR. These two will mostly be Deadmans's Plate and Spiritual Visage. Your last item is dependant on what you want, but must give you both HP with AD or AP, knowing that Black Cleaver and Titanic Hydra are not options.

I will respond to 3, 4 & 5 later.

  1. positions with greatest results: top/jungle
  2. always and will forever be rylais. it USED to be a spellvamp item, but with his W healing I dont think its necessary to take anymore (it can still be useful though). beyond that, your typical mixture of tank and AP items seen on AP bruisers. don't build trinity force (anymore)
  3. deal damage back to them. use E to generate shield on minions/champs. use W for life gain (especially against champs). if you're against ranged in the toplane (quinn), then the procedure is to curl in to a fetal position and wish for a merciful death
  4. my personal preference: http://i.imgur.com/iSioDLb.png this provides AD for last hitting and amping up your Q damage early game, as well as providing you defenses. AP centric runes (AP Quints + Magic Pen Marks) with armor + mr is also an option. my personally preferred masteries: http://i.imgur.com/kRyvGDk.png boosting my healing in any way helps laning immensely
  5. you deal a lot of base damage with simply leveling up. rylais will boost your damage significantly, an AP core of Rylais/Sorcs/Abyssal will probably kill anything that isn't a tank with all 3 Q autos

these are just my personal things that I've used to strong success, morde is actually quite forgiving when it comes to build paths, although I still don't suggest anyone ever build trinity force on him

Well i can tell you what i'd love to see. It would be a lot of work, but we don't have a** full guide** since before his rework.

  • Matchups: a full explained list of every opponent he can face at least in top, bot and mid.

  • A list of runes and masteries for the different typologies of games. (for example when you should go sustain, when full dmg and when generic).

  • Which ability should be maxed first, second etc, depending on the lane (something like "go max w against poke lanes, go q vs melee opponents etc").

  • A good itemization list. A lot of items seems to be optimal on morde, but what truly are? (for example, i was asking myself "now that theyr're nerfing sterak, could titanic or mallet be good on him?"). It'd be very nice if you'd explain the pros and cons of the ap, ad and hybrid build and which items are core in each one

  • Tips and tricks (like flash and 3d q and more).

  • Overall game strategy (early game, mid and late) and what to do if you're ahead or behind.

for matchups, I'd probably need to collab with other morde mains about botlane, since I abhor that lane and avoid it at all costs. for types of games, morde has a lot of sustain AND damage built in, his problems are sticking to targets that have the means to run away. abilities: so much of your damage is frontloaded in Q that I cannot recommend ever leveling something else up items: yup, so many items are decent on morde now. when in doubt, build bruiser. tips/tricks/strategy: those things can be gone over for sure in the guide

  • About botlane: yeah, i understand you...
  • About itemization: Can i ask you what do you think about titanic and\or mallet on mordekaiser? I agree that glasscannon ap doesnt't work anymore and an hybrid\ bruiser build is better, but what ad items are the best on him?

Anyway, i wait for you guide. I'm always curious about how morde mains play him and i watch a lot of replays and gameplays, but i dont see a good full guide since Kuralesache's one. Now that things are changed i hope somebody can do something similar.

A friend of mine pointed me over to your thread so sorry if I'm a tad late to the party. I play Mordekaiser exclusively in the bot lane since his rework. What would you like to know about playing down there?
