Skarner needs a different passive.

We have reverted Rengar Q

We have reverted Kog'Maw

We have basically reverted LeBlanc

Skarner is chomping at the bits to be reverted as well... :-(

It's almost as if Riot shouldve just balanced the old kits instead of changing what players originally fell in love with. HMMMMMMMMMMM

Let's be fair, some of their rework were very successful and good for the champion and game overall. I personally think they did great with Irelia for example ( W is questionable, but eh).

Skarner, however was admittedly not that great by RIOT, didn't achieve their goals for him, and is only good when over tuned. Currently, the only thing making Skarner "work" right now is his overloaded E (fracture). It allows for easy cc (ganking early is a must for junglers) but also let's him access his passive for 1 second out of jungle, has bonus damage and cdr on proc, etc.

His passive was only "good" when it was broken.

He has been a prime candidate for a revert, especially given Riots dislike of the results.

Lets be fair.. okay, why was Irelia reworked before say.. Nunu? Cho'gath? Volibear? Annie? Aatrox? You know, champions that actually have dated and stale kits? My issue is mostly the champions they chose to update.. Irelia didn't need to be touched for quite some time. No bigger rush than the ones i listed.

Shahamut1 votes

The answer to that is more complicated than you think. How exactly Riot prioritizes it I am uncertain, but I know what they have said in the case of Aatrox, and that is it just took them that long to find a direction that they liked and thought the player base would enjoy.

It very well could be that those champions are.simply waiting for "inspiration". (Personally, I think Wu Kong's character is poorly explored and needs a full vgu)

And just in case you haven't seen it yet, Nunu is coming soon. After Aatrox and Akali I believe.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Nunu should be first lol

Shahamut2 votes

I understand how you feel. But again, it probably just took them longer to find the kit they wanted XD.

So, for example, if they are trying to update Morde, but can't find a kit idea they like, but someone comes up with a great idea for say, Annie, should Riot wait to do Annie until they force something out for Morde?

TeCoolMage1 votes

Okay so you've gone from saying we shouldn't rework champions and balance their old asf toxic kits instead to complaining about the order of which they're reworked

Dreadlocks1 votes

No i'm saying, you crying about a kit being toxic isnt a reason to rework a champion. But rather the simplicity of champions like Nunu needs to be brushed up on far before that of your perception of "toxic"

Because it is hard to come up with successful concepts and functional, healthy kits. Someone said Urgot had 3 different concepts that were scrapped before we got this one. And Urgot's rework was waited for years...

And I remember that Riot stated years ago that they were unsatisfied with Irelia's kit as a whole, because she had the same issues Volibear and Aatrox somewhat have: binary, all-in kits, that either smash the opponent or die. Akali is next in line, and she shares those problems too.

I personally prefer their current method. Otherwise, they could have done half-baked reworks, like Karma's, where they erase the base elements of that champion, and add already used mechanics to create a mediocre (but healthy) kit that simply isn't satisfying.

Sounds like a terrible excuse for a Billion Dollar company..

Riot made surveys on which champion should be reworked. And Irelia got a lof of votes (more than nunu cho annie or aatrox). Because people wanted to see more from the "flying baldes thematic" So riot shouldn't be blamed for anthing, if they do what the community wishes for.

I agree, in some cases its been great (I love the new galio and swain) but also agree with the OP that some have just caused more problems and/or have been complete wastes of time. Just look at malz. Was fun to play before rework (I wasn't even there for it but have seen plenty of videos and he looks SO much fun, and played him in s7 when he was also enjoyable if a little predictable), then changed his voidspawns and ult in a couple of mini reworks that made it all about hitting that ult, then just have up and nerfed him to the ground and walked away.

Why not just revert him back to when people enjoyed playing him, and people were scared of his voidspawns, and rework his ult to a gp size aoe slow with a damage/debuff effect? People seemed to think people playing malz enjoyed the e w flash/ghost ult then waveclear for a minute before you can do it again gameplay riot introduced last season. WE DON'T! xD

They're actually gonna VGU him down the line.

Shahamut7 votes

I want the old one back til then. Spires are a dumb mini game with poorly thought out mechanics that are 100% useless in lane or in base.

abdollah562732 votes

As a fellow Skarner main, I feel you and applaud your efforts. Especially since english is your native language, so you can better express his problems.

Keep up the good work TC!

abdollah562731 votes

Only problem is, Skarner isn't as popular as Aatrox and Ahri. So there isn't much demand for a rework. And as Riot's recent behaviour has proven, they only care about the popular champions

Gosh, Ryze is getting his 100th rework, they've spent 3 patch cycles on Ahri, they've reverted all the unpopular reworks. I think Skarner mains need to be more active and whine more. I remember how Rengar mains would whine 24/7 until they got their revert

Shahamut1 votes

Well. I am pretty regular, so I guess that's a start XD

Wtf even was Skarner's old passive? It's been so long.....

Shahamut7 votes

His previous passive was "Crystal Venom". It used to take 3 spell hits for Skarner to proc his stun, meaning he actually had to stick onto you. It also had a cooldown so he couldn't perma stun you. It also had a fun interaction with your ultimate, where you could gain bonus ultimate damage per stack of crystal venom, forgoing the stun, but being able to start stacking venom immediately.

Skarner's chain stun was still possible, but opponents had time to react.

Q used to have a stacking mechanic, granting him move and attack speed. Managing the stacks was part of his gameplay, and Q was his max first ability.

T4underbolt1 votes

Well it is yet another victim of simplifying and making it easy to have results by riot. Everything is turned into no skill champ that guarantees everything without effort.

Fertsa1 votes

i like the stuff his passive does, except for it being mostly tied to spires If he had a more reliable way to get the mana regen, movement speed, and attack speed outside of gaining it for 1.25 seconds with his E stun or his ult, which prevents him from attacking, it would make him an ok toplaner or even support if it didn't require last hits

Shahamut1 votes

Minus the mana regen, all of that used to be on his Q, as a stacking mechanic. If you revert his kit, and change the stun bonus damage to mana regen, it would be almost perfect.

A longer post I wrote about why spires don't make sense... at all.

I feel ya bro. All points.

Meep Man1 votes

Didn't Skarner's old passive just get put into a different part of his kit? His AAs reduce the cool down of his Q?

Shahamut1 votes

His old passive was lumped into his E (Mark and AA proc for stun). His Q used to give him charges(max 3) of attack and movement speed that fell off with his extra damage.
