I would respectfully disagree. She is simple because she is supposed to be. I think everyone has lost sight of the fact that the champion pool is supposed to cater to a wide array of people. Not everyone enjoys mechanical heavy champions or even likes them at all.

Annie fell out of the meta because they decided to do that mini rework to make Tibbers more relevant by having more of the damage be about Tibbers sticking to the enemy. However, the whole point of playing Annie is to nuke people with the AOE ultimate. Getting Tibbers to stick to anyone is tough already, and the gimmick where he chases people when she dies is pretty useless. It's very easy to get him to switch targets or just walk in and out of a bush etc. At the time they were promising to do more follow up on minions, but after that they haven't done anything else with minions except for the Yorick rework.

Remember for a brief time when Banner of Command had increased minion power on it? That was part of that update. Then they deleted that item. : /

Her problem isn't simplicity, lots of champs are straight forward I play lots of them, that's not my complaint with her. It is that she has very few if any good lane match ups. TBQH she isn't even all that great even at support. She's easily out ranged, no on-demand cc, and utterly zero mobility.

Basically she lacks anything 99% of midlaners have.
