Riot, I dont know how you can call Poppy cancer

LupusNox··10 votes·1,798 views

When you release champs like Kalista and Yasuo and literally every champ (except Vel'Koz) for the last year or so who have just been super cancer to every role that they go in. They aren't even broken number wise, but just so overloaded with free stats and every skill has 6 passive effects in addition to an active and they do everything at all stages of the game.

Your power creep has gone too far, and don't even get me started on mobility creep. At least with older champs, you know what their weaknesses are. Poppy, the poster child for a "cancer kit" has a terrible early game, no sustain and outrageous mana costs. And you can exploit that so you can stop her from getting items and rolling you. Meanwhile, new champs have no weaknesses and no mana problems and do everything.

I get that you want new champs to feel powerful so that people will buy them, but this is getting ridiculous.

She also has a passive that cuts in half all damage to her, as long as it would do 10% of her health or more. So if she starts with 560 going to lane, and an ability would deal more than (or equal to) 56 damage, she's only taking 28 and above from that depending on how much she actually took. With a better kit, Poppy would be so rediculously overpowered it wouldn't even be funny. ......I lied, it would be hilarious

If an attack against her deals more than 10% of her hp then only the damage above 10% is reduced by her passive.

E.g. Poppy have 1000 hp and an attack deals 200 damage after armor/mr reduction. The first 100 damage is unaffected by the passive but after that the next 100 damage is reduced by 50% to 50 damage. The total damage is reduced from 200 to 150.

Kalista: No steroid to speak of.

Yasuo: Two steroids.

Popppy: Three steroids...

Kalista has a slow and can grant her ally a knock up. Yasuo can knock up an enemy every third Q. Poppy can knock you back without any ally or stacking any ability, and if you are knocked into a wall, you're stunned.

I can understand if you don't like the new champs, but Poppy is a bad choice of comparison.

If Kalista had a steroid, she would be beyond OP.

She is the antithesis of Ashe, because whereas ashe is super-unmobile but slows you constantly, Kalista just can't be touched because she can just hop away without ever having to stop

And I used Poppy because of all the champs that Riot believes has a broken kit, she is number 1, yet then they release these new champs like Kalista. Its so ironic it hurts

Kalista suffers for that lack of steroid though. It's going to ensure that marksmen with steroids scale a LOT harder than she does as the game pushes into late game.
Kalista vs Draven, Jinx, Kog'Maw, Tristana, Twitch or Vayne. When any of these other carries hit their power game, how is Kalista really going to out fight them except to run and try poke them down with Q?

Kalista also can't push or run from a Sivir.

Because she's not bursty, she loses against all the bursters -> Graves, Corki, Lucian

I do however think that she's better than Varus....and she is a better poke and evader than Ezreal.

Varus is in a really awkward spot and Ez I'm still trying to see as more of an Ad as opposed to Ap. But that's just me.

Incompetence mostly, OP.

Honestly, I think Vayne with ult is better at kiting than Kali. She's not that bad, she doesn't do that much damage, and she's incredibly squishy.

No one noticed this (or made a stink about it) when Fizz was released. Every ability the guy has provides 2 distinct effects. It really began with him.

Kalista has near infinite mobility for both kiting and skillshot dodging, which is broken but extremely high max skill cap, which is more than can be said for poppy's railroading kit.

Poppy: 8 seconds of 40% damage amplification to a single target, while being immune to damage and CC to the rest of the team. 50% damage reduction from attacks that deal more than 10% of her health. If poppy is squishy, basically any carry that has only BotRK will proc this passive with an auto... It might as well simply be 50% damage reduction from carries. Surviving an assassination attempt from poppy on a carry is damn near impossible if she has Triforce+botrk + summoners. The champion is super broken and only kept in check by her horrid laning phase.

By Comparison: Tryn: 5 seconds, can be CC'd, will basically end near 1 health. Weaker gap closer and CC

@Shindaiwa21 Poppy is EXACTLY what she was created to be. She is a Anti-Hyper carry. Her role is to isolate the super strong late game adc's that can 4 shot regular tanks, and kill them.

a hyper carry is still going to do major damage to poppy. The key here is, in the situation of a team fight, How does the hyper carry react to poppy and how does poppy engage onto the hyper carry. There is much more to how poppy is used then just 'uh ill ult the support and own everyone'

The huge CD on her ult makes it a pretty much all in engagement. All things equal, vayne, tristana, draven, all the hypercarries except maybe kogmaw can kite her (are ranged) and use their summoners to kill her. There are plenty of options for them to chose. Not to mention sivir, whose the best counter to poppy. Giant Q range/poke, Ult=move steroid for entire party, and the shield that absorbs one q.

But yes, if poppy gets on a hyper carry late game she can delete them. Just like she was designed to do. The counterplay to that is wards, communication, planning, stratagy, knowledge. Use them.

There is a reason why she's only been picked in LCS ONCE in their history and that was like 2 months ago. She is very hard to pull off in a actual team situation with communication.

If your interesed it was Unicorns of Love vs Millenium game 3 on youtube u can watch.

Yeah but I can see why Riot stepped away from anti carries. Their sole purpose is to ruin the game for one person unless that guy is extremely cautious. I think just all her skills are made of tumor cells, her dash stun is the only exception. She gets that invisible tankyness passive and W, a single Q proc alone takes 1/3 of some champs health, the speedbuff on W feels like it lasts forever and it feels like WW when she runs from a bad duel with it. Her ult is the worst of all. No amount of kitability should allow her to oneshot someone then oneshot the rest of the enemy team while she can't be cc-ed and killed.

A hypercarry will do zero damage to Poppy because she ulted the enemy top laner and is now mashing their face into the wall with complete impunity.

Her kit is super broken. Looking forward to the rework, because I totally dig the football tackle and she's a fun character.

Necro it, sticky it, worship it. Every rework since - and including - Karma have been literal slaps in the face to Riot's fanbase. Here we have a great game called League of Legends that we want to play. Then comes along Riot with their "esports" and shitty design philosophies that only cater to ADHD.

No champion should have such overloaded kits (ekko, kled, Rakan to name a few) nor should they have game-warping abilities/ultimates (tahm's devour, kalista ult, kindred ult). Riot has fallen and the players that they have brainwashed are the ones who will -literally and figuratively - pay for these crimes.

Your design team should be arrested for white-collar crime. You pimped out your own game.
